Thing we don't like is pretty trivial but the foot release rattles when you push it closed

This replaced my 25 year old unit. Looks great and works even better. Piece of cake to install. The air filter option was a surprise addition.

Easy to install, quiet in operation. Drawer mechanism seems a little flimsy. All-in-all a nice appliance.

Really happy with this purchase. Old one broke and rather than get it fixed just replaced it. The brand is reputable so I didn’t think I could go wrong. I was right.

Replaced another brand. This one is much nicer and the SS finish looks great and matches our other Kitchenaid appliances. If you like using a trash compactor this is a real nice one. Bags are very cheap to buy at Costco unlike our other brand.

The drawer doesn't open fluently. When I press on the foot pedal to open it the drawer disengages but doesn't open---I then have to lift up AND pull on the handle to get the drawer open. I had a factory rep repairman to assess it and he said nothing is wrong with it---that it was functioning properly. I am not appeased at all. This unit replaced my prior KitchenAid built-in trash compactor that lasted 28+ years so I'm speaking from experience that the door should pop open unassisted. Note: I made the purchase on 9/1/20. The delivery date was 11/25/20. Install was 11/30/20. I've been too busy to submit the review nor have I used the trash compactor.

Overall good product, only issue so far is that its not offered in a black stainless front.

Item was defective. I had to reorder a new one and hopefully it will work properly

A very nice machine, worked great and a low price of an open box item

A new KitchenAid trash compactor did not work when it was installed in early Jan 2025. It was replaced and the replacement had the same problem - drawer wouldn't automatically open. A KitchenAid certified technician was scheduled and he had to special order parts in mid Feb. The compactor has still not been repaired.

Looks great compared to other brands. Very little black plastic on the front other than the foot petal to open the drawer.

Getting used to the new pedal push compactor. Wish you didn’t have to push it twice.

Not the sturdiest appliance. Aesthetically pleasing

It’s a little on the loud side as others have noted, but it’s a few times a day for 10 seconds - not a big deal in my opinion. Everything else is great.

We have several Kitchenaid appliances and this product replaced our older compactor. I wish I wouldn't have. We only replaced it so it would match our new refrigerator and dishwasher. The stainless steel on this product is horrible - not sure if it's only mine or if it's a problem for others . I don't know why they don't make it in a "printshield s/s" like they do the fridge and dishwasher. If any spot (water) gets on the compactor it is there to stay! I had to stop hanging a hand towel on the bar because the water spots are impossible to remove. Would not recommend.

Convinced that trash compactors are better than ever! I was worried it would look out of date, but Kitchen Aid REALLY knows how to make something look great and modern!

We have owned several compactors. The is as good as we've owned.

L love it❤️. So great to just have one trash bag a week!
