For as much as this cost, it noise. My last microwave was going out making a lot of noise, use to be quiet. So I decide to buy this KitchenAid at a much higher cost and a lot of feature my old microwave didn't have. But guess what the KitchenAid microwave sound like my old one that was dying. Making a lot of noise when in use. Should have bought a cheaper one, Might have been quieter when used.

No Support if One Function Fails

After a lot of searching, we chose this microwave and the available trim kit because it met our space, and we were especially pleased with the convection oven function. After less than two years of use, the convection oven feature stopped working, though everything else continues to work. I was unable to find a replacement heating element, so I reached out to Whirlpool/Kitchen Aid Customer Service for assistance. Despite being told that "We appreciate hearing from you." and "I understand the importance of knowing how to order replacement parts", I received a canned response that due to one feature failing: "a technician would likely recommend that you replace the unit." My experience has left me very dissatisfied, especially after spending over $800 on the microwave and the trim kit less than two years ago. Again, the main reason we settled on this item was due to the convection oven feature, which no longer works, and apparently can't be fixed. There are much cheaper options we could have chosen.

It has been a good microwave but disappointed that it stopped heating after 4 years and 9 months. Average life of microwave should be 7 to 10 years.

Purchased 10/24/14 The paint has been peeling away from the side of the microwave! DEFECT!!!! This paint is peeling away from the top of the microwave near the vent holes. A place that rarely gets touched! It has not been scratched. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT! KitchenAid/Whirlpool's response: We recommend you don't use it! Throw it away. KitchenAid/Whirlpool refuse to offer any assistance with their defective microwave! I recommend you not buy a KitchenAid/Whirlpool microwaves.

    Poorly Manufactured

You would expect that a microwave that lists for $609 it would be well constructed. This unit is not. When unpacking, I noticed a square piece of cardboard on the interior side wall. I suspected it was some packaging for shipping and removed it exposing a large intake vent. The flimsy cardboard piece is indeed an integral part of the product. After successfully installing using the $100+ trim kit, I tested the unit. The convection fan was so poorly aligned that it grinded against its housing. Kithenaid support was very unhelpful so now I get to uninstall and return to BB.
