    Wiring issues cause ice maker failure

    We bought this model six years ago for a new home build, bundled with two KA ovens and a KA dishwasher. Apparently this model suffers from poor wiring design along the base. Our ice maker has ceased working because of damaged wiring, the only option is to replace the door, at a cost of $2000 or more, and the part is currently unavailable. Very disappointing to now have to buy a whole new unit. We expected more from this brand. Scott A

    This is the worst fridge available to buy. Ive owned it for 3 years now. Ive gone through 3 ice makers, ive had to repair the wires on the freezer door multiple times because they break right at the hinge. Ive had to replace the refrigerator thermistor twice.

    Rust bucket

    After three years, the skin on the refrigerator is rusting. At first it was just on the surface, but now it has acne-like rust pustules on the freezer door. I can wipe them off, but they come back the next day. I fear they will keep growing.

    Non stop noise maker, junk

    Already had a repair person out once, they are coming again this week. Has been excessively loud from day one, does not hold temperature. Set at 32, operates in the 40’s most of the time. Food is not as cold as it should be. Seems like a toy, made cheap, not worth $3,500. Huge mistske puchasing this crap

    love kitchen aid but not sure about refrig

    drawers are very small with counter depth an extra bin on doors is really needed Water line issues within first month! had to call a repair person bought stove too, love cook top, oven takes forever to heat up

    The worst refrigerator on the market. We have had 2. Both crapped out within 3 years. Iceing, defrosting, and constant problems. Tech told us to get a new refrig. This is a bad model with alot of problems. Run, do not walk away from this one. I cannot sugar coat how bad this thing is.

    Don't overpay for Kitchenaid

    Purchased this refrigerator for the counter depth feature and matched other appliances in the home. So far not very happy with Kitchenaid. I thought Kitchenaid was Whirlpool's higher end appliance line based on their higher price. After installation and removing all the packing tape, discovered that bottom crisper drawers do not open smoothly and support shelves do not lock in place. This is a design flaw and not a QC issue. Each time we open a crisper drawer the support shelf comes loose and everything has to be put back together. Only had the refrigerator 4 days and we're sending it back. As for my other Kitchenaid appliances, New oven installed in 2021 is already in need of repiar as the wiring connections or circuit board are causing the lights and the oven to cycle on and off intermittently. My gas stove works great but the knobs get very hot when the stove is in use. Overall not very happy with Kitchenaid unless you just want to pay more for styling vs. quality.

    Ice and water continually stop working.

    We have had this for 8 months. Already had the service company out 6 times. Every few weeks the ice maker and water stop working. So far they have replaced the ice maker and the mother board. At what point if this keeps happening will I just get a new refrigerator? I’m told by the service tech that will never happen. Just keep calling. Problem is my warranty expires in a few months. What do I do then?

    Design Flaw

    We bought an earlier version of this fridge a few years ago, and it has a design flaw. The wires for the panel bend at the bottom of the door, and get stretched every time the door opens. This will eventually cause them to break, ruining the ice maker or other things in the panel. It requires a replacement of the door, which costs $1,400 (parts plus labor). I do not recommend buying this refridgerator.

    Don’t buy if you expect to use the ice maker and w

    Don’t buy if you expect to use the ice maker and water! It worked great for 2 weeks then nothing. Took another 2 weeks for a maintenance guy to come. He defrosted it. Left and now it STOPPED WORKING AGAIN - THE NEXT MORNING! $2300 and it’s now a month and I still have a broken fridge! Did not expect this from Kitchen Aid. Poor design! They should be ashamed of themselves for still selling a product that clearly doesn’t work properly. They also give you one refrigerator door tray less then you need so you need to buy another of the thinner ones for further below. And the drawers are much smaller than my previous kitchen aid fridge. There’s 2-3 inches of wasted space behind the drawers. Must be for air flow but could also be the reason the water line is freezing.

    Long time owner/buyer beware

    I bought my first side by side Kitchenaid refrigerator in 1992. It was an outstanding machine. Moved to a different house in 2019 and left it behind. Bought a new side by side Kitchenaid and so far have had to replace two LED light panels at a very high cost. Now the evaporator fan failed. I found the fan to be a cheap computer box fan and it was mounted and taped into two pieces of styrofoam. I cannot recommend this refrigerator and I will not buy another.

    If I could give this a zero I would. We bought this KitchenAid in replace of another older model side by side which worked great but not aesthetically pleasing. This is in 2017. Since then the refrigerator keeps freezing even though it’s at recommend temperatures. Found MOLD behind the shelving. And NOW the ice machine is broken because from what the technician who came out to repair this-that it is a very common problem that the wires on the bottom of the door just break for no REASON. So of course I called KitchenAid and they said there’s nothing they can do..and to FIX the problem from this MODEL is to get an entirely NEW DOOR FOR $1600! So don’t waste your money on this..

    Had this item for 6 years and every year a problem. The ice maker would not work, the bottom would leak. the way they designed the wires on the bottom of the door caused all the problems with ice maker. Be warned.

    Looks Great, Replaced 4 times in the first 4 months. 3 years later Ice maker stopped working. The door has a broken internal wire and Kitched aid will do notning. Kitchen Aid is garbage!!!!

    had to service 4 times in one YEAR!

    Every 3 months, this refrigerator becomes inoperable and we are waisting both money and time trying to keep food cold for our family. I am completely disappointed with the customer support we have received. Kitchenaid sends a repair team who replaces the same part. Each time we are left without a working fridge for at least a week. They refuse to replace the refrigerator.

    Died 17 months after delivery

    Do NOT buy, it was delivered January 6, 2019, stopped working May 6, 2020. Bought Geeksqaud warranty, tech was out on the May 7, 2020. Would have cost $681, if no GeekSquad. No eta on the final part, 2 of 3 have arrived. Called Geek squad, was told I have to wait 30 days from Day parts are ordered. $2800.

    12-28-2022 bought a kitchen aid regrig 3 years ago Cooling issues started 1 year ago refrig stopped cooling 2 days before thanksgiving tricity an AIG company has been here 4 times still not cooling replaced compressor and other stuff haven't had refrigeration for 5-6 weeks. we bought a kitchen aid because we thought high quality - not so their cust service sucks dont buy a kitchen aid if you have a problem you are SOL

    Disappointing stainless steel finish

    We’re very disappointed with the finish. Everything we’ve tried leaves a very dull streaky finish. The stainless steel is magnetic which I suspect means it’s a lower grade and low in chrome and nickel. Either way, we have a 15 year old GE oven next to it that looks a lot nicer.
