Poorly made
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is a terrible product. Within 1 month the automatic door closer broke. Kitchenaid wanted to take 2 weeks to replace it, and wanted to give me a repair window that could be anytime during an entire day (8-5pm). I replaced it myself. Now 6 months in the condensor fan is broken (the loud noise several reviewers complain about) and it has stopped cooling. Kitchenaid took 2 weeks to send a tech out, then another 3 weeks to attempt to repair it because the fan was on back order. It still doesn't work and they refuse to replace it. It looks good and that is about it. Most of the positive reviews are from people who have owned it less than 6 months. To add to it the repair person badly chipped the brand new kitchen cabinets taking the fridge in and out.

Black Stainless Steel resists fingerprints beautifully, very roomy fridge and freezer, very very happy with this purchase!

A total lemon!

A couple of months after we got it a huge component in the fridge iced over leaving us without a fridge for almost 3 weeks. The tech that came told us this was a common problem with this fridge so why he would not have the part on his truck is beyond me as we had to wait over a week for the part to come The temp would not get below 42-45 in the fridge and we lost most of the food in our fridge. Fast forward to December....same problem. Waiting on tech to arrive today. Hopefully, he will have the part when he arrives and to add insult to injury, the ice maker has not worked in over 3 weeks so hopefully, he can fix that too while he is here. Not dumping on the tech or tech company as this is a manufacturer's defect. We have asked Whirlpool for the fridge to be replaced with a new one as this one seems to be a lemon. This is the 2nd time we've lost most of our refrigerated food. Funny thing is our basement fridge is an old school Whirlpool and it is probably 30 years old and we have never had a problem with it. Hopefully the tech will confirm with Whirlpool that they just need to replace it.

Poor Quality, Poor Customer Service!

Just short of 12 months the refrigerator stopped cooling and service was initiated. Tech could not diagnose the issue, replaced and ice maker, a main control board and now 4 weeks later says the compressors and evaporators are bad and the unit may be leaking. Kitchenaid refuses to replace the refrigerator and Best Buy will not either. Both Kitchenaid and Best Buy are not standing behind their products they sell.

Too expensive to only last four years
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We purchased this refrigerator in September 2019. The first fridge that was delivered did not work. Best Buy/Kitchenaid were great about getting us a replacement fridge. The second fridge stopped being cold after 4 1/2 years (lights worked, seemed to be running, but was at 60 degrees). The repair guy came out and replaced the electrical board. That didn't fix our problem. We are now replacing the evaporator cover. When it's all said in done, we'll have paid roughly $1K to fix a $4K refrigerator after 4 1/2 years. While it's a beautiful fridge, its not worth anything if it doesn't perform its one job: keep things cold. Second issue is the ice maker. The ice dispenser doesn't reliable close, which allows heat to enter the ice bin, causing the ice to melt and jam up in the bin. So we can't consistently get ice. We typically need to rough it up a couple of times a week to get ice out and completely empty/let the ice melt and start over about 1/month. Also, there is not enough room for "tall items" - milk, juice, ketchup, leftover white wine, etc. I won't purchase another french door fridge that doesn't allow shelf heights to be customized on the left and right sides.

If you want ice on your floor buy this Fridge!

I have been a long time KA customer, their quality has gone down in recent years and you pay for "looks" vs quality. On top of that, get this, they by design have the ice maker software hold open the ice maker dispenser door for 15 seconds after you are done dispensing (most refrigerators and past KA refrigerators shut the door upon finishing dispensing / once you pull glass away from paddle). So about 80% of the time, we walk away and sit down on the couch and then you hear ice hitting the floor because any ice between the auger and ice maker door can get kicked out when the door shuts. The tech that came out to service this refrigerator (8 months after we got it) said he has gotten complaints about this since KitchenAid changed over to pausing the shutting of the door! That has got to be the most idiotic decision I have ever heard and obviously they didn't test it out because after the first 10 times you have to go clean up melting ice on your floor would point out the design should be scrapped!

Very bad quality product and Warranty is a scandal

No Problems for 3 years, yet we decided to buy the extra 3 years extended warranty. - 2 Months later the fridge stopped cooling. Calling the support, it got fixed = Good. - 6 months later same issue. Called services.... Then the Warranty team told me that they wouldn't repair it as it wasn't worthwhile for them and proposed me to pay me back $500. Conclusion: Spent $4000 of this fridge added total of 6 years of extended warranty (Probably $600). Fridge failed and the warranty team denies the claim it as it is too expensive to fix. No solution proposed, I am stuck with a broken fridge and the Service plan denying my claims. This is unbelievable service from Kitchenaid (using AIG), Total this fridge would have costed me $4600 for 5 years... Absolutely scandalous. Writing this message as I am seing this fridge in many places, it is a nice design but when having issues, no one is here to support you

Some pros and cons

This is probably one of my favorite things about our complete kitchen remodel - it's so pretty! No technical problems, but there are some things about this fridge that I wish were different. #1 - The freezer is TOO SMALL! There's only two of us in our household and we don't even have that many freezer items. #2 - The shelves are not really adjustable and they are close together. For example, a standard water bottle can only fit on the bottom shelf. Other than that I love all the bins and temperature controls.

Expect premium support for a premium product?

Three months of service for this price? It is under warranty, but we're told the fastest a technician can get here is at least 10 days from now. We did enjoy it while it lasted. Loved the small ice cubes. Great lighting. It just failed at doing one thing: keeping food cold or frozen.

All Flash, No Substance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We purchased this unit 6 years ago. We should have known from the first day this was not a good unit. Soon after it was delivered, we had a leak coming from where the water filter is located. A repairman came out and said the unit needed to be completely replaced. This was literally the 1st week. We soon started having other small issues. Small parts that hold up shelves would break off. The light in the freezer doesn't come on anymore. The manual says we should never have to replace it. And the switch is not frozen in place. The handles do not have any give so you have to be careful of stripping the small screws and having loose handles. The ice maker is probably the saddest thing. If you are having guests and need ice for drinks, go to the store and buy a bag. This thing makes enough ice for about 4 people. The ice maker also freezes up often requiring us to remove the container and undo any clogs. About 3 years in, the unit stopped cooling. Luckily we had a BBY protection plan and it was fixed. Recently, the unit stopped cooling again. Unfortunately this time, we do not have a BBY plan on it anymore. We had a repairman from KitchenAid come out to look at it. He said he would have to take the whole thing apart to run a test to determine where a leak was occurring. He estimated that the cost to get the unit up and running would be $1500. That was it for us. We decided to junk this unit and buy new appliances (yes we bought an entire matching set) of a different brand. If you are thinking about buying this unit, don't. Don't be fooled by its good looks. It will just bring you frustration.

Waited 2 weeks for a Kitchenaid warranty replacement part - it lasted 2 weeks before it also broke. Tech said "it is unrepairable" and "Kitchenaid will contact you". What can they do because I am most certainly NOT going to purchase another Kitchenaid/Whirlpool. For a $4000 appliance this is NOT OK. Can only recommend to someone who does not want a working fridge. Wanted to buy American - a desicion I now sadly regret.

Constant noise / tech issues, poor follow up.

Geek Squad remedied once, but the issue returned, part ordered and appointment scheduled, but they never showed up nor did I get a response from Customer Service. Now out of service date and have been asked to pay for service and new parts. POOR.

Worst refrigerator I have ever had

I have had this refrigerator for over 2 years and have just about everything replaced from new door due to electric harness, ice maker, missing parts and now faulty compressor. Unfortunately customer service is just as bad as the refrigerator. They are inconsistent with their notes. I was told by a representative that total repair costs are now over 2500 and they will declare the refrigerator a lemon. When the compressor went bad I was told they will replace the compressor. I just want the refrigerator to work and stated I will even buy a new one with the buyout to no avail Luckily I purchased a 5 year warranty which I sure I will be using regularly.

Disappointed to say the least

Reliable, knowledgeable technician came out diagnosing that it needed a new control board but could never get voltage to the compressor. Handy husband tried replacing the main circuit board but that didn’t work either. Had to buy a new fridge and went with a simpler less $$$ model. Side note: My 30 yr.old GE Profile has been running continuously in my garage….guess they don’t make things like they used to! I expected more from KitchenAid as they’re supposedly a premier product line. Do NOT buy this fridge!

Do I try again??
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this refrig 4 yrs ago because the ice was smaller and reminded me of Sonic. 6 months after I bought it I had a loud noice coming out of it. Like a compressor. I had bought extended warranty, but part was not able to be found even by Whirlpool. I could not go on to list for a new refrig as the part was back order for at least 4 months. Last two yrs it continued to need repairs. Not cheap fixes, and no warranty. Question is. Do I buy the same refrig for my new house?? It’s pretty but, do I want the headaches? Wish they would give me discount on a new refrig, same model....Moving next week. So, not sure.

No, pass on this one

It completely stopped cooling (even though the temp. settings did not indicate an issue). Ice machine worked great for awhile but has constantly stopped working all together. Had an authorized repairman appointment last week. He was here 4 hours eventually replacing the entire motor. Still is not working. With a family of 8, for the price, a hard pass. The plastic parts also break easily, not to mention the leak underneath the entire refrigerator. I wish I could give it zero stars

Major problems with 2 units!

Kitchenaid replaced the fridge and now this one stopped cooling, again after just a few months. The ice maker and water also stopped dispensing. I'm now waiting on parts. Its all under warranty but I'm feeling very frustrated after losing food twice and the inconvenience of not have a refrigerator for weeks on end!

Stopped working again. Nothing but problems with this fridge. You can’t fix it from behind. Seeing if turning it off and letting it sit for a few days to melt the ice will make it work. Yep, threw a lot of food out!!
