Dead after 3 years. Buyer beware!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are paying more than $1,000 for a dishwasher, you expect it to last a long time. I have had cheap dishwashers that lasted 8+ years. We LOVED this dishwasher when we first got it. It ran quietly and cleaned dishes well. Then after 3 years, it suddenly stopped working. Repairman told us it was a bad circulation pump. The cost to repair is over $700!

Kitchen Aid 44bd Flex Dishwasher
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the low noise level. It performs really well. However, we have had 3 replacements due to the Main Circuit Board failing. This unit has its own surge protector. We did this after the first failure, living in Naples there are a lot of lightning strikes. Maybe four times is the charm. Full Disclosure, this unit was not purchased at Best Buy.

Do NOT buy a KitchenAid dishwasher
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just replaced my second Bosch dishwasher with a KitchenAid (KA) model KDTM604KPS (~$1200, depending on the retailer). The KA was purchased Dec of 2021. The primary reason I went with KA is because I could not locate (low pandemic stock levels) the Bosch. Unfortunately, I have found the KitchenAid far inferior to the Bosch. At the time of replacement, I sat the two side-by-side - making for an easy comparison. I also performed the installation myself – further identifying a host of issues. The Bosch was covered with high quality insulation (individual pieces glued to each side of the chassis/body). The KA was draped in a single, thin, poor quality ‘blanket’, which simply sat on the unit. Prior to installation, I had to duct tape the KA’s blanket to the chassis – in effort to prevent it from falling off while pushing the unit back into my cabinet. I found the base (stand/frame) of the KA horribly flimsy. The thin gauge metal parts were fragile. The injection molded plastic parts were also thin and of far cheaper quality than the Bosch, which enjoyed a very robust plastic frame. The wiring on the KA was also super thin gauge (vs the Bosch). Several control unit wires were so thin (in gauge) that I was concerned one would be errantly pulled from the unit - if lightly pulled. Drain Hose - The KitchenAid came with a very thin wall plastic drain hose, which I am concerned will leak at some point. Especially if accidentally nicked or dinged during installation. I tried to rob the drain hose from my Bosch, but found it properly hard connected to the unit). Oddly enough, the drain hose exits out of the front of the KitchenAid. The Bosch exits to the rear, as it should, to facilitate an easy install (added hose length while sliding the unit back into the cabinet. Electric Power Cord – The KA comes with no power cord. Why does a $1200 unit, require me to leave the house to purchase a $5.00 cord? The KA unit’s power connection box is cheaply mounted to the front of the unit. As a result, the power cord ends up almost too short to facilitate an easy installation - as it first must snake under the unit, to the rear, and then thru the cabinet hole - resulting in a loss in almost 2’ of a 5’ cord length (standard DW power cord length appears to be just over 5’). Finally, the KA asks the owner to purchase a 1 1’2” rubber cabinet grommet, to make sure the wires don’t chaff when exiting the thin-walled KA power box. Serious? I have buy a $1.00 rubber grommet because KA cannot provide that costly piece. Could a missing $1.00 rubber grommet result in the KitchenAid being a fire hazard, if not properly installed? The Bosch includes a power cord which simply plugs into the rear of the unit. The Bosch required no trip to the store or requirement that the owner wire/install the electric power cord his/herself. Before KA responds that the drain hose and power box are located in the front of their unit, in effort to facilitate access, please note the unit is so poorly designed that a service tech could not physically access either. Just no room. After pushing the unit back into the cabinet, I opened the door to unveil the KitchenAid’s coup de grace: Apparently, on a $1200 KitchenAid dishwasher, the heating coil (element) simply sits on the bottom of the washing cabinet. Thus, if an errant plastic or rubber utensil falls between the basket grates, it would likely create quite the mess. What year is this, 1980??? Of course, the Bosch’s heating element is contained within the cabinet, thus not exposed to the interior of the washer. Of course, the KitchenAid’s interior baskets are made of very thin poly-coated metal (vs the Bosch). The KA’s baskets feel horribly cheap. I miss my Bosch…

Disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Died after only 4 years. It was amazing until then. Zero issues. Super quite. Then one day it didn’t do a good job washing the dishes. A few days later we noticed the wash cycle was taking longer than normal. A few days later, we noticed a faint burning rubber smell and dirty dishes. That was it.

Great when it worked, lasted less than 1 year
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good Luck, 9 months in it started giving a common error code, had the repair man out 5 times, they still were not able to fix it, they then blamed the problem on installing an air gap, which is called for in manual and is actually code. When it worked it was great, but get something else

Damaged
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We received a damaged dishwasher. Kitchenaid and Best Buy both cannot tell us when a replacement will be available. Very disappointing. The product may be good, however we can not use it properly and the customer service has been a let-down.
