This is one of the best remakes of the King Kong movies! With the exception of the original King Kong this is the best one yet! Although I did enjoy the last one with Jack Black and Naomi Watts! This Kong movie is set in the 70's, 1973 to be exact! Kong is protecting his Island and the inhabitants, which include other animal life as well as the natives that live on Skull Island, from harm by the Skull Crawlers and from mankind! Samuel Jackson is an officer out for vengeance to kill Kong after Kong killed several men in Jackson's command! I enjoyed the music, which was popular during the Vietnam era and I enjoyed the movie as a whole. I like action and this movie has lots of it!

Originally saw this movie on a cruise..son LOVED it so had to get a copy for home..

I liked the story line and the way it is set up. Great cast and nice action scenes.

I always loved a good monster movie. But when I saw they were doing this, I wasn't interested. The only reason this film exists is because the studio greenlit Godzilla vs King Kong and didn't realize the size disparity between the two combatants. They rushed Skull Island so they could ultimately get back to the main event. However, I enjoyed this film more that I ever expected. Unlike the 2014 Godzilla, Kong spends a great deal of time on the screen. They weren't shy at all about putting the big guy front and center! There is plenty of eye candy and beautiful vistas (it was shot partly in Hawaii). It has the framework of the Kong films that came before, but with some subtle tweaks. There is no abducting the pretty girl in this one, for example. Overlook the gaping plot hole when they first reach the island (bombs away and not one scientist objects?!?), and enjoy the ride. The steelbook itself is a version of the teaser poster and looks nice. And it is available in a 4K version - score!
