Fun, Unique Game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn't completely sure what to think about the game before I purchased it, but after playing through it (twice), it is an extremely enjoyable game. One thing I would like to start off with: -Just because it is published by Rockstar does not mean it is a 1940s version of GTA. Outside of the movements and open world gameplay, it could not be further from GTA. There is not nearly as much action and probably appeals to a completely different crowd. You are an ex-Marine, named Cole Phelps, who works his way up through the LAPD. The main story is of the cases you solve and how you work your way up the ranks, but there are also several back stories that add to the game's overall storyline. There are a variety of cases to solve, ranging from murders, to drugs, to arson. The good majority of the game is not action based, but searching for clues, interviewing people, and driving around. Team Bondi does a good job of adding in some action with most of the cases though, whether it be chasing down a fleeing supsect or a gun fight. Interviewing suspects is not always easy, especially if you lack evidence for accusations. Reading the faces and actions of persons of interest can be more of a focus than what they actually say. Positives: -LA Noire has very good graphics. The new facial technology Team Bondi created and the several years of development definitely shows throughout the game. -The story is well thought out and very deep with its back-stories and numerous characters. -The length of the game is outstanding, especially since there is not a lot of replay-ability. It took me around 28 hours of gameplay to finish the story and probably half of the side missions. I have finished the game to 100% and played through the story and DLC roughly twice each and am up to 40+ hours. -It is a challenging game, never really too easy or too hard, which is good since there is not a difficulty adjustment. Negatives: -Not a lot of replay-ability. Once you play through the cases twice and figure everything out you may have missed the first time, there is not a lot to get you to keep playing. However, trying to get all of the trophies will help get the most out of the game as well as DLC that will continue to be released (at an extra cost though). -At times it can seem repetitive when looking for clues or interviewing, but as I said before, Team Bondi did a good job mixing in action at appropriate times. Overall this is one of the best games I have played in recent years. The positive aspects completely outweigh the negatives. It is another great game that is published by Rockstar, even though it is vastly different from what they are known for like GTA and RDR. There is a good mix of crime solving/interviewing and gun fights/action. The long and interesting story is well worth at least one play-through.

Easily Rockstar's best game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking for a game similar to GTA or Red Dead Redemption gameplay, this game isn't really where you'll find it. LA Noire is it's own game, and the only thing I've seen close to it is Heavy Rain. You start out as a patrol cop, but you gradually work your way up, so the whole game isn't just one genre of cases. Throughout the game, you'll see some pretty gruesome stuff, and you'll start feeling that you're no longer just playing the part of Cole Phelps, you're actually in the game. People say this game gets repetitive, and I can see why. However, all cases are different. Different suspects/victims, locations, causes of death, ect. I played this game for about 6 hours straight, and I didn't even get bored. Aside from the main cases, there are also 40 side cases that will get called in, and you have the option to check them out. Personally, I would recommend doing them. You get experience, and can unlock new things. Another thing, experience. Side missions, interviews, stuff like that can get you it. You can rank up to level 20, and each time you unlock new things. Aside from investigating and interviewing, there are plenty of car chases/foot chases and shootouts to keep you entertained. That actually reminded me most of GTA. You'll have to drive A LOT. Everywhere from place to place to get to wherever you need to go, it gets kinda boring sometimes. But, your partner can drive too, as like a fast-travel thing. ALSO, they're making plenty of DLC for this game I'm sure, so it'll just keep stretching out. I liked GTA, and in my opinion, this is so much better. I completely recommend it.

I'm Impressed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I started playing the game and I must say, I am very impressed. Many people are comparing the game to Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto. In my opinion the game is much more different. You do have free roam but it is not as fun as free roam in Red Dead or GTA. This game actually makes you think through each case and interview. The graphics are pretty good and the cases are full of detail. The game is worth the 60 dollars, trust me!
