I was hoping that the sonic quality was going to be really improved here, but I don't really perceive that much difference from the other re-releases (I heard that Page used the actual masters rather than copies like the earlier re-releases???). I was hoping that in re-mastering Jimmy would have punched up the bottom end a bit and pushed the sound closer to what they got with the "In Through the Out Door" session. I really want to hear Bonham in that fashion, but if you're a "mid-range" sound guy and Page oriented I think you'll like these discs. Of their earlier matieral (1-4) I always thought this album was recored the best, and was really looking forward to this disc and the way that it sounded on the old analog equipment - maybe my mind it just making think it was better than it actually is??? One cool thing is the old album art has been faithfully reproduced. Nice to get some bonus tracks and alternative cuts - nothing to die for but nice to have if you don't already have those things.

Great CD to add to your collection, if you like Led Zeppelin. Had the album, had not heard it in years.

Great to hear this classic album again the way it was always meant to be. Page did a fantastic job.

The regular album is great as always and the outtakes give an insight to the tunes.

Best base album of three reissues, weakest extras

If there was ever an album that needed a "making of" makeover, it was LZII, a powerhouse of rock history, some of the most well known and beloved tracks in rock, like "Whole Lotta Love" and "Heartbreaker." Sadly, the producers missed a golden opportunity not including the history of these tracks in the booklet, which once again only features pictures and not any written documentation to one of the greatest rock albums ever recorded. The sound, however, it terrific, and it's pretty cool to hear some alternate takes on some of the tracks, but otherwise a major album done in a minor way. But, hey, you're gonna buy it anyway!

As a big Led Zeppelin fan, I was eager to get these remasters of Led Zeppelin mainly for the bonus material. However, if you already have the complete set from previously, this release is not necessary for the casual fan. The demos are interesting to listen to, but after one or two times, I can't imagine repeated listens like the album tracks. I couldn't tell a huge difference aurally between the two masters (but I am not an audio expert). So unless you are a die-hard fan, you may want to skip this one.

If you don't already have Led Zep II, then get this, but otherwise I'm not impressed. I'm not an audiophile and can't hear the difference between this and other remastered versions. If you want the disk of extras, then it's worth it.

Much like Led Zeppelin I, I can't give this a perfect score, because this isn't one of my favorite Zeppelin albums.
