Great Game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just played the demo for l4d2. Controlls are similar but doesn't seem as responsive. The controls seemed slugish compared to the 1st one. Graphics are amazing and the different normal zombies are great. Seemed like there are too many swarms of zombies which i can see as being a problem in versus. Ai is still dumbed down. Expert is impossible unless you have 4 great players because you can no longer wait hordes out thanks to new special infected like spitters. Also, the melee weapons are just stupid. The melee weapons replace your pistols, so when you run out of ammo you have to use a frying pan or a bat. Don't even waste your time with the melee weapons what would you rather have 2 handguns or a guitar to fight endless hordes of zombies? Overall the game should be great apart from the few gripes i posted. If you liked the 1st one youll like this.

A Fantastic Sequel!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No doubt this game makes a fantastic sequel to the original zombie thriller. It is a blast! Fight your way through 5 campaigns now that all link together. Fight new, dangerous zombies on your quest to freedom and rescue, all the while using new melee weapons and guns to meet your goal. While this game provides hours of entertainment, for those who were bored easily from the game play of L4D1, be prepared to be bored again. The repay quality is high, but as play will dictate, it is more of the same old Left 4 Dead with new weapons and fighters. I love the game, and it keeps my attention, but don't be prepared to spend hours upon hours playing. This game is good in small doses.

Gorey Violent Fun
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok, first off, if you don't like zombies, stop reading this. If you do like zombies, BUY THIS GAME IMMEDIATELY. It has 5 campaigns that all go in a story, 4 characters, and around 20 weapons. It also has 4 modes called Survival, Versus, Realsim (new), and Scavenge (new). In sirvival, you have a team of four people and you try to survive as long as you can. In versus, your team and another team switch off trying to kill the survivors as the infected while the survivors go through the campaigns. In scavenge, your team faces another team and you both try to collect as many gas cans while the other team tries to stop you. Overall, buy this game, it might teach you how to survive a zombie apocalypse.

Made for Multiplayer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very fun game. If you have played the original, the basic concept is the same: You start in a safe room with 3 other survivors and basic weapons, and try to make it to the safe room at the end of the level, pciking up more powerful weapons along the way. There are the basic zombies, which will come at you en mass, and then there are the special zombies. Special zombies have niche roles, all of which are aimed at either doing massive damage, or dragging you away from the group to kill you. While one person can kill endless amounts of basic zombies, special zombies often require teamwork to kill, so the players that runs ahead or falls behind the group will often die first. This means that teamwork and sticking together become a neccessity to beat the levels. The game starts off with 4 environments, in which there are 4 or 5 levels for each. The game itself is not that long and can easily be beaten in less than a day, but it is the replayability that makes the game so much fun. Since the number of zombies that spawn and their spawning location are always random, each level is a different experience each time you play. In addition, you can also play multiplayer mode, where the special zombies are actually other players trying to prevent you from finishing the level. As stated previously, this game is especially fun for the multiplayer experience and the replayability, if you do not have xbox live, and no one to play with locally, you might want to grab another title such as Dead Rising 2.

Better than the first
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A great improvement over the first installment of this franchise. I got bored and sold off L4D1 in several months, but already I can tell that I'll be keeping this one in my library as my go to multiplayer game for a while. The inclusion of 5 campaigns, versus mode on all, survival and now scavenger make this a great purchase. They also upped the gore, and the added melee weapons are a blast to play with. The only drawback is that the overall graphics are not much improved from the first, maybe higher resolution. It seems too bad that with all of the awesome graphics in games these days that Valve seems to be resting on the house that Gordon Freeman built (graphics-wise). But with the frantic gameplay, you'll be more concerned about not getting your a** kicked than how many pixels there are on the screen.

Calling All Zombie Hunters...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Listen, guys. You, a few buddies, and a zombie apocalypse. What more needs to be said, eh? But seriously, with a fully-loaded arsenal of zombie slaying equipment and a few friends to help you smash skulls, you will be racing to catch your breath, running from safehouse to safehouse, and narrowly avoiding your own demise (hope you grabbed that med-pack...) until you somehow manage to escape the horde at the very last minute with but a few last headshots and a pipe bomb or two. Of course, if you'd rather just pummel your zombified opponents to the grave (again?), there is always the melee option (and one I'd strongly recommend - especially taking the ol' golf club to a few "baddies" like you're Tiger Woods or sumpthin'). Just watch out for Tanks! And WITCHES! Please, PLEASE don't disturb the witches! Unless you've got a death wish - or a buddy that's quick to lay down some heavy fire on your behalf. Otherwise, they'll dedicate the episode to you - our fallen survivor...

Best multiplayer co-op game ever!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I played hours upon hours online with my friends running around shooting zombies and fleeing from hunters. This is one of those games where it is extremely fun to put a mic on and scream at your friends as you shoot and die to hordes of zombies. Definitely one of my favorite games of all time!

Great game, intense!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game isn't for everyone. The "mature" rating is quite appropriate with the level of carnage and graphic detail that goes into killing zombies. Everything from chopping off heads with machetes, attracting hoards with pipe bombs, and yes, using a chain saw to cut the zombies in two. Needless to say, I loved it. It was challenging and intense as a video game should be. Sometimes it became less fun as it became extremely difficult, but don't let that shy you away from the game. There are several different modes of play. Offline you can only play with 2 players per console which is a bummer. Online campaign mode however allows you to play with 4 persons under the main characters Nick, Coach, Rochelle, and Ellis. Valve did a great job on many elements of the game. Notably is the way the infected take damage. There are over 40 different ways the zombies can take damage, and each weapon has some special damage abilities. Valve also managed to lace in some humor to the game which provides some comedic relief to the chaos. Ellis has inappropriate stories which no one wants to hear, and well the sound of hitting zombies with a frying pan or guitar never gets old. Besides the campaign mode, there are several more online modes where you can play as the infected or humans which provide for even more fun game play. The best seems to be scavenge. This round based game has you take turns between the infected and humans. Humans score points by filling a generator with gas from gas cans scattered around the map. The infected try to keep the point total low. Who ever wins the most rounds claim the bragging rights. Overall, I would highly recommend this game. Valve tends to make great games (Orange Box anyone?) and this one is no exeption.

now with machetes and chainsaws
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.L4D is one of the few Xbox games I've spent more than 50 hours playing. I have a feeling that the sequel, L4D2, will be more of the same. I usually only play single-player, though the game was designed for co-op play and I hear that's where the game really shines. Still, they took the gore and frenetic violence of the original and upped it a notch. There are some great storyline locations that are very scary, an amusement park, a swamp, etc. The addition of melee weapons is fantastic.

Excellent, excellent game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this game when it first came out years ago. We got a new puppy who ate it so I had to replace it. How many games do you own that if, two or three years after you purchased it, you would have to rush out and replace if it were lost or damaged? Off hand, I'm not sure I can think of one other than Left 4 Dead (1 and 2). I won't go on and on talking about the game itself (game review mags and websites can do a much better job than myself) but I will summarize by saying it is the ultimate online co-op experience. It is endlessly re-playable and years later the developer continues to provide new downloadable content to keep the experience fresh. Even buying this game twice, I have gotten my money's worth out of it many times over. This game is a classic.
