Lenovo Listened To What Everyone Wanted

Lenovo simply listened to what everyone wanted in an upgrade to the original Legion Go that there should not be any surprises. However, people should not be surprised that all these things cost a premium and that’s where the legion go 2 comes in. This is a big device and anyone looking at this probably already knows this from having the original. The ergonomics were improved from the first device so they are better but keep realistic expectations with a device this size. The screen blows everything else out of the water with a 8.8” OLED with VRR and 144HZ refresh rate. The Z2E chip isn’t the biggest jump in performance but the other upgrades to screen, ergonomics, 32GB RAM, improved speakers and improved software is exactly what people asked for. The price might seem high, but the cost of these upgrades are what they are. The rog xbox ally x might have better ergonomics but the chip is the same, it has less RAM and the screen is terrible. This is the device to best right now and is well worth the high price.

Lenovo followed the small ideas as the original legion go. Detachable controllers that are more ergonomic making it less of a strain on your hands over long play sessions. FPS mode now has a puck that wil latch to the remote so it doesn’t go flying or falling off when in use. Only handheld with an oled screen and hdr with VRR. Bigger battery and better cooling. Performance over original varies with marginal gains over the previous model. Included carrying case is welcome however feels like a downgrade when compared to the hard case the came with the original legion go. Other things I’ve noticed after using for a few days. Uma buffer for video ram is set to 2gb from the factory leading to poor performance and the power controller is set to manual instead of auto leading to stability and crashing issues both of which can only be changed in the bios. Sometimes the quick access menu button just fails to do anything turned on the simple fps counter and after a few minutes of verifying settings stability could not bring up the quick access menu without restarting the whole device. Legion space is definitely more fluid however there seems to currently be a bug that shows Bluetooth being on even if it is turn off in windows. My least favorite thing is the joysticks while they do have better placement this time around they still seem to want to go all over the place with the slightest movement or maybe I got a bad unit I have no idea since I haven’t seen much about the joysticks being talked about yet. Hopefully a third party manufacturer will step up to the plate and offer replacements at some point.

Lenovo Legion Go 2 – A Serious Upgrade That Feels

I’ve spent solid time with the Lenovo Legion Go 2, and honestly, this feels like Lenovo really listened to feedback from the first gen. The performance jump is noticeable right away — games run smoother, load faster, and overall stability is much better, even during longer sessions. The display is still one of the biggest highlights. It’s sharp, vibrant, and immersive, especially for a handheld. Playing AAA titles or even indie games feels premium, not cramped like on smaller screens. The improved ergonomics make a big difference too — it’s more comfortable to hold for extended gaming without feeling awkward or fatiguing. Controls feel tighter and more responsive, and the detachable controller concept still sets it apart from competitors. It’s great for switching between handheld mode and tabletop setups without feeling gimmicky. Battery life is improved compared to the original, and while it’s still a powerful device that benefits from tuning settings, it’s more reliable for real-world use. What I appreciate most is how versatile it is. It’s not just a gaming device — it genuinely works as a portable PC when you need it to. Lenovo seems committed to refining the Legion Go lineup, and the Legion Go 2 feels like a confident step forward rather than a minor refresh. If you’re into handheld PC gaming and want something powerful, flexible, and different from the usual options, the Legion Go 2 is absolutely worth considering.

Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? Abso-freaking-lutely. I've gone through a laundry list of handheld PCs now - I've owned the ROG Ally Z1E, ROG Ally X, Legion Go 1, Steam Deck OLED, MSI Claw 8ai+, and OneXPlayer F1 Pro. All of these devices were great in their own ways, but had compromises either in performance or efficiency. Legion Go 2 is the only one that I truly cannot put down that I have no major complaints about, so much so that I've sold all of my other handhelds. Let's start with the star of the show: THE SCREEN. This is hands down the best screen in this form factor. Colors pop, VRR minimizes stuttering, and the resolution is just right. I am shocked just how good this display is and after using the Go 2, I couldn't go back to another device, even if they also had an OLED screen. I hope that Lenovo releases a lightweight tablet that leverages this display in the future. The speakers are much improved from Gen 1. I returned the Legion Go almost immediately because the speakers on that device were an absolute joke. Even though they are still top firing, the sound stage is much bigger and I've had 0 issues with it. Battery life on this device is incredible. I love how I can just charge it while not in use, then play through an entire session without having to plug in again. The Z2 Extreme is very efficient at lower wattages and the battery is much improved over the previous model as well. Ergonomically, it feels very good in the hands and somehow feels lighter than the Gen 1 Go. It's still heavy compared to other devices in the market and you will feel some strain if your favorite way to play is in bed like me. I don't love the release mechanism of the controllers and wish that Lenovo implemented a magnetic mechanism like the Switch 2. The trackpad is the best one I've used on a non-Steam Deck handheld. I love the bottom port for charging. One minor gripe I have is the sheer number of buttons on this device which are really hard not to press inadvertently just from gripping it. Would be great if Lenovo could release controllers that are a little more trimmed down on the extra buttons. Minor complaints: The carrying case is a soft one. I wish they provided a hard case like the Gen 1 Go. The controller sticks have very low resistance. Not bad enough to be a dealbreaker. Would have liked to see a 2TB SSD at this price point. Don't love the type of SSD they used either (2242). Upgrading is pretty easy though. Windows still sucks. Install Bazzite on this and don't look back.

    The best handheld gaming PC

The Good: - 8.8" display is the best and most immersive experience you can get on a handheld. - OLED brings vibrant colors, perfect inky blacks with infinite contrast, and HDR looks incredible. - 144hz with VRR makes games look butter smooth. - Performance on the Z2E processor and 32GB of RAM is solid with being able to play all my favorite games on the go. - The most versatile handheld with 4 different ways to use it. Handheld, console, FPS, or tablet mode. - Streaming to the Legion Go 2 is awesome. If you have a decent PC, you can use sunshine or apollo app (I use apollo) on your PC, and moonlight on the legion go, and stream all your games to your handheld. This is one of the ways to take full advantage of the display and play your games on max settings at full 1200p 144hz on the OLED screen. The mid: - Windows 11 is a clunky experience on a handheld that takes up a lot of resources. Look into getting the "xbox full screen experience" on the legion go 2 for a better UI that allows you to access all your games and launchers from one space, while using far less resources to increase performance - Comfort is ok. It is a big and heavy device, and the right thumb stick can feel a little cramped during extended playing sessions. Not a deal breaker, but something I've noticed. Also, playing with 2 separate controllers when they are detached feels awkward. It would have been nice include a plastic piece to make your 2 controllers into 1. I know you can buy these separately, but with how much these things cost, it should have been included. The bad: - The price of this generation of handhelds is pretty crazy. Also compared to the first Legion Go and the fact that this costs almost twice the price is even crazier to think about. - The setup process of windows 11 is annoying. You got to update windows, update your apps in the Microsoft store, update your BIOS and/or drivers in the legion space app, possibly uninstall and reinstall your gpu drivers, and then, if you're lucky and didn't run into any issues, then you can start downloading your launchers and games.

This has been a great device in the time that I’ve had it. If you want a handheld with a big OLED screen with VRR, this is the one to get. The display is perfect. It’s played everything I’ve tried at reasonable settings and the battery life is decent. There are a couple draw backs with this device: 1)It is a very large device. I have big hands and this thing is barely manageable without shifting my grip. 2)Windows Sleep/Wake is terrible. The device regularly turns back on in my bag and in the middle of the night. Drains the battery and gets hot in my bag. 3)The detachable controllers are cool, but I don’t really see the use. If you have space to put it down and hold the controllers, you’d be better off with a laptop and a controller. I’ve also had to restart the device a couple times to get the controllers to register button presses.

    4.5* - Wash w/ Xbox Ally X IMO

4.5 Stars. Most important thing to note, Steam Deck OLED vents still smell better. I had the XBAX (xbox ally x) and returned it to preorder the Legion Go 2. I rated the XBAX a 4 and will stick with that but it had the superior ergonomics, and IMO the xbox full screen experience beats the glitchy Legion Space when comparing the native software. Also The LEGO2 D-Pad and right thumbstick placement is horrible, reminds me of the Switch. I have large hands and have to tuck and bend, I find it easier to just use the ball joint of my thumb, though not as accurate. And my palm is constantly touching the touch pad making it do funny things, so I disabled it completely. Since it's detachable, I hope Lenovo or a third party can make a more ergonomic controller even if it makes it wider. Also speakers, it's decent but the XBAX front facing speaker is much better. Initial impressions I wasn't impressed. The OLED is nice, but some games I have to lower the resolution on top of upscale which made it look hideous on a nice OLED display. I'm also never frame gen as my eyes/brain is sensitive to the fake frames. But eventually the LEGO2 grew on me, it takes a bit of tinkering for each game, if you don't mind that you can get decent results. Most games I'm running lower settings with FSR, and I prefer Balance energy/power profile for a more quiet fan experience and mildly better battery. Windows 11 is actually useable as a computer, that's why I'm giving this the extra .5 stars. It has the spec to be a decent PC and can be a casual laptop replacement.

FOMO fueled this purchase, as I already owned a Legion Go S, but I am glad I pulled the trigger on this device. One of my big complaints with the S was an inability to easily and natively play anything that was not part of my Steam library, which covered a lot of newer and more demanding titles. While it does take some tinkering with settings, I have yet to come across a game that does not run well on the Legion Go 2. Currently, I am alternating between Cyberpunk and BG3, both of which look absolutely stunning on this device. The size and weight of the device may be a deal breaker for some, as they were my wife's biggest complaint as she tried to use it, but I have not had any complaints in that regard.

Compared to the Xbox Ally X they’re pretty much the same in terms of performance. The LeGo 2 has a bigger screen that’s Oled and attachable controllers and kick stand like the switch that makes it to where you can have put it down and play anywhere. The larger screen is what got me to like this over the Xbox Ally X. The comfort is good but the screen is too small.

Very impressed with this model. As a person who is always on the move, I wanted a system that could satisfy my needs for gaming/ getting work done. Sure, some could say get a laptop, but why not have comfort at your fingertips with a large, yet sleek enough device that could be a powerhouse. It games all the AAA titles, and when i get home, i dock it and its a powerhouse PC. Love it and can’t wait for more memories with his device.

I think the Legion Go 2 is worth it if you want a premium gaming handheld with strong performance and a great display. The 8.8-inch 144Hz 2K OLED screen is the standout feature for me. Games look sharp, smooth, and vibrant, and the larger screen makes handheld gaming feel more immersive. Performance has also been solid, and the 32GB of RAM with 1TB of storage gives it a more high-end feel right away. It handles gaming well and feels like a strong option if you want power and flexibility in a handheld device. The main downside is the price, since it is definitely not a budget option. Overall, if you want a premium handheld and plan to use it a lot, I think it is worth it.

Amazing handheld. I'm able to run Stellar Blade on max settings on this beast. The OLED screen is leagues better than other handhelds with LCD screens. Performance is great, barely hear the fan when it kicks on. Only gripe is it's only has 1 tb of storage, but if you know how, it's upgradable with an SSD swap.

This has been an amazing purchase for me. I am a father of 2 who used to game but have seen my chances to do so become more limited. Anytime the TV is on my children take over the tv. I was getting resigned to the fact that i would no longer be able to game but the hand held pcs changed that. For me this is the best device for fathers. Sure there are other oprions but that OLED screen and the size are just perfect. I can game while my kids watch a movie or show. In the rare ocassions i can use a TV, this hanheld just does mazing at 1080p. Tabletop mode is also great. FPS mode is hit or miss on games, not because i feel an improvement on some games while other feel just the same. This thing has been amazing for me, its expensive if you have other options but for people like me who cant really play on a tv, this is the best option. The OLED display is soo nice that i prefer gaming on the device other the Tv.

Other than the typical Windows user experience and tweaking of games etc this thing is awesome. If you understand what you are getting into owning a windows handheld, that shouldn't be a reason to complain. I wish the right thumbstick was a little higher but its never gonne be one size fits all when it comes to ergonomics and hand sizes. All the games i enjoy playing have had a significant boost in performance due to the upgraded ram and processor. For reference the games i have run on it so far have been: D4, D2R, D3 (emulated), Last Epoch, PoE2, Bf6, RDR2 and CoD. None of them have been a bad experience once tweaked for maximum performances vs graphics. The screen is as advertised. An upgrade i wasnt particularly interested in but I dont think i cpuld go back to the non Oled screen. All in all if you know what youre paying for in this niche market you shouldnt really have a problem with this device. The only bit of buyers remorse I have is the potential of not being future proof once the next gen rolls out. Thats the same with all tech though.

It is a bit heavy and will wear your hands out after a solid gaming station. The oled screen and power is worth the investment. It plays most new gen games very well. Obscur 33 is averaging 70 fps at low settings but is very playable. BF6 is sold at medium graphics, just would recommend a third party controller.

I would like to start off by saying ive owned the original rog ally z1 extreme since day 1 release and i loved it, i also bought the xbox ally z2 extreme and returned it. I love lenovo products i own a 4080 i9 liquid cooled desktop that ive had for almost 3 years now with 0 issues, after the disappointment (with the screen size and weird handles) i had with the xbox rog z2 extreme i decided to purshase this legion go 2, best thing i could have done. The screen is beautiful and games can actually run at that 1200p at mid to high settings. I play only AAA games outerworlds 2,stalker 2,red dead 2, spidermam and all those gsmes run amazing at mid to high settings at 1200p.

I came from ally X/Xbox ally X. Comparing to this thing is on different levels. The 8.8” Oled screen is amazing. The detachable controls are great. Some people complain about the weight of this thing but I have big hands and it feels very good. The build quality of this is great. It’s very hard to move to a different handheld after this one.
