I recently picked up the Legion Go S 8” 120Hz Gaming Handheld with the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, running SteamOS, 32GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD. As someone who’s been diving into portable gaming, this device has quickly become my go-to for on-the-go sessions. Here’s why I’m absolutely thrilled with it: First off, the fact that it runs SteamOS out of the box is a game-changer. Unlike Windows-based handhelds that can feel bloated and clunky, SteamOS is sleek, lightweight, and laser-focused on gaming. It’s built on Linux, which means it boots up in seconds without all the unnecessary background processes that drain battery life on Windows devices. Updates are seamless and handled directly through Steam—no dealing with intrusive Windows updates or antivirus pop-ups mid-game. Plus, the integration with my Steam library is flawless; everything just works without needing to tweak settings or install extra drivers. If you’ve ever fought with Windows on a handheld for controller mapping or performance optimization, SteamOS eliminates that hassle entirely, delivering a console-like experience that’s optimized for efficiency and immersion. Portability is another huge win. At just 8 inches, it’s compact enough to slip into my backpack without feeling bulky, making it perfect for travel, commutes, or lounging on the couch. This is the current best SteamOS device by far, the screen is excellent, the size is manageable, and the power of the Z1E is incredible without windows holding it back. All that said battery life is lackluster at best bad at worst and Lenovo makes a lot of poor design choices with their devices. Going into sleep mode leaves the power button flashing infinitely. You have to take off buttons and find hidden screws to change the storage or unplug certain elements to reach others. And it’s sooooo expensive. It’s a solid device that just has a ton of small issues that can really add up into big problems for some

Great handheld, steam os is simply the best for handhelds and the aesthetics of this device is impeccable. Wish the battery held up longer but there are tricks to min maxing this device, just have to find the sweet spot for each title.

The best gamingheld I have ever owned. I traded my SD OLED to get this device and do not regret it at all. Amazing screen, extremely comfortable to hold, and plays all my games without issues. SteamOS with the Z1 extreme and 32GB Ram is perfect. I highly recommend this device, you will not be disappointed.

A great handheld gaming option! The screen size, power, and performance make for a great experience, and have allowed me to explore new ways to play on the go! The ergonomics are excellent; I can play for long stretches without discomfort, and it feels a lot like a regular controller.

This thing is amazing. As someone who owns both the steam deck and oled, this thing blows them out of the water. 32 gb of ram and the z1 extreme chip is a powerful upgrade. The higher resolution makes every game look so smooth and detailed. I can play most of my games at high settings and get 40-60 fps sometimes even up to 70-80. For Indie games and well optimized games I get 120 fps! If you are used to playing on a steam deck this is a massive upgrade. And the steamos option makes this handheld even better! I can’t wait for the oled version to come out. Lenovo is the future of handheld pc gaming!

Very good quality especially with ram prices at the moment 32 gb is nothing to scoff at, will replace my aging steamdeck lcd that is starting to have battery issues. Feels good in hands and battery life isnt to much a issue if you set to low power mode and play more light fare games if ya want it to last a long time but really just keep your expectations on the kinda game your playing and performance mode and you can guesstimate how long you will have

This is my first high powered PC handheld and I love it! Steam OS makes it work right out of the box. The screen is amazing even though it isn’t OLED. Battery runs out a little quicker then I would like, however I’ve also been playing demanding games on performance mode. I am a working Dad of two and being able to jump in and out of games is a must. I’ve been looking for a more powerful steam deck and the legion go s is exactly that.

I'm very happy I chose the legion go s over a laptop. The only downside of it is the battery life but I knew that before purchasing. The unit that I got was defective and crashed a lot but BestBuy replaced it with no hassle within their two week return window. The crashing is most likely defective memory. The replacement works perfectly and I have not had any issues with it. Honestly it's the best pc gaming experience outside of a big desktop pc.

Lightweight, powerful, and really easy to use things to intuitive software. I cannot praise this handheld enough. Very customizable to your current play situation. Able to adjust performance to save battery or increase performance during high demand games. The screen is huge without the device filling bulky and the handheld feels really good to hold.

Steam OS on this machine makes it an absolute beast of PC hanheld. And it hands down has the best ergonomics. The way it fits into the hands feels like it melds into your hands for an ultimate feel. The screen is large and is stunning to look at. Its not an OLED but its syll beatiful to view.

Love the Legion Go for quick play sessions and the way it jumps straight into Steam. It boots fast and gets into games without delay, and the eight inch 120 Hz screen looks smooth and sharp. The Z1 Extreme chip and the generous memory make menus snappy and keep games feeling responsive, and the one terabyte drive gives real room for installs so there is less shuffling. The controls feel soft to the touch with precise inputs, and the body feels sturdy with materials that hold up well. After a few days the shell still looks clean, the buttons have a consistent feel, and the whole unit gives a solid in hand impression that makes it easy to use on the couch or at a desk. Battery life is the weak spot for me, though having USB C cables around makes it easy to top up between sessions. Storage or battery upgrades are possible but take patience and the process is more of a chore than I expected, so I plan to rely on the internal drive for a while. The good news is that day to day use is smooth, the instant start is reliable, and the software side feels stable with Steam at the center. The price sits on the high side, but if you will use it often the performance and build make it worthwhile, and the price for the quality is good.

The device offers a comfortable user experience, particularly when connecting with PS5 controllers for gaming. While initial testing revealed some performance challenges with Mortal Kombat 1, which required adjusting power settings and graphics configurations to achieve a playable 60 frames per second, the device demonstrates strong performance with games optimized for its capabilities.

If you're looking to get into handheld gaming like I was I think this is the best option for performance, comfortability, and ease of use while still being able to tinker with it and enjoy messing with settings and performance. I would only get when it is on a sale though at I think 800-900 is too expensive with the screen not being OLED. The 8 inch LCD is still a really nice screen though. I got mine for black Friday for 650 and so happy.

GET IT. I had the original OG Lenovo Legion Go (LeGO) and I really liked it. But my issue with the OG LeGO was that it was really heavy and the ergonomics on it sucked (personally). and I found myself hardly gaming on it because it felt slows sometimes and it's annoying having to quit the game and then fully turning off the LeGo since windows wasn't the best experience for handheld gaming, in my opinion. HOWEVER, with the Legion Go S (LeGOS), I find myself using it all the time and gaming on it for extend period of times bare bones. The Software and User experience is unrivaled with SteamOS. STEAMOS I WANNA APOLOGIZE, I WASNT FAMILIAR WITH YOUR GAME!! It's so good to play a game, put it to sleep, and then youre back in the game exactly where u left off 3 days ago. Performance is amazing on this with the Z1 extreme as I'm playing HellDivers 2 (game installed on an SD card) and I put about 45-62 FPS on balanced settings (and I often play Helldivers connected to my monitor and see about the same performance!!). This thing is just a beast! Get it, You won't regret it unless you like other brands and Windows experience more.

This is an amazing device. I love steam os and with the z1e it rocks. I will say that the battery could be better so lower settings or plug in or a battery pack or else expect to only play an hour on triple A games. It’s like a steam deck on steroids and the 8 inch screen is nice but top notch quality. I just wish it had a larger battery and it would be five stars

The device is excellent in many respects and the best of all I've tried, and I've had at least all the major OEM devices. Compared to the deck, the standout features are the display (even compared to oled), performance and ergnomics (man with largish hands). Compared to the Ally, well, SteamOS is the icing on the cake. Instead of power on, dismiss various notifications, swipe up, long press, close app, x2, x3, update armoury crate, reboot, update windows, reboot, wait the armoury crate update didn't take, repeat...it's wake up, press play, play. Every time. When you do need settings adjustments, the menu is more intuitive and streamlined with the most commonly adjusted settings front and center with easily ledgible text.

Picked this up for $650 and it's probably the best value on the market. Works really great. Showed coworkers and they were impressed. I can play Spider-Man 2 (with performance mode) at 60 fps full resolution but with the graphics turned all to low. (Still looks good like that tbh) Fallout 4, Mass Effect Trilogy, and Halo MCC run flawless. Full price being $900, I would suggest moving up to the Xbox ally x, but if you can get this puppy for sale, it's worth it. Very satisfied with: my sale price of $650, performance, and build qualify. After holding the Xbox ally x, I will say this isn't as comfortable, but you put on a Dbrand case and you'll be good to go.

Snatched it on sale for $650 and this can handle pretty much anything you throw at it. Build quality is amazing: The grips, holo sticks and triggers to the big display, plus with the z1 extreme. I love this thing. Two cons: the fan noise and battery are pretty bad

Been using the Lenovo Legion Go S and it’s been really solid. Performance mode runs well and battery life is decent for what it is. When it gets low I just plug it in and keep playing, no problem It’s comfortable to hold, doesn’t overheat, and the fans aren’t loud. The big screen is probably my favorite part. Overall just a great handheld
