I grew up with Lego games (Batman 2, Lego marvel being the goats) and it was awhile since I played one and even one that released so I was got really excited with how the formula would be different and it’s Star Wars!!! After beating all 9 episodes and doing a fair amount of content, I was letdown heavily. It’s different but it’s also really boring, not funny as the original saga from 2007, and somehow a new feeling I didn’t expect, too much to do that it is overwhelming and pointless to do.

Great game, really interesting reworking of the Lego combat system. Fighting feels more fluid now.

I used to play the original LEGO Star Wars games. The Complete Saga was one of my favorite games as a kid, and I remember playing the opening level of "Revenge Of The Sith" on loop to grind out studs. When I got to this level, and saw that just like many others, it was reduced to nothing more than a cutscene, I was gut wrenched. TT Games took everything that the LEGO Force Awakens game did wrong and decided to go all in on those features. What made the original games so fun were wacky takes on the movies, but I genuinely think that actually playing missions from the movies takes up at most 10% of the game. The rest is a tedious, never ending spree of side missions of translating alien text or finding characters around Tattooine. It hurts me how bad this game was in comparison to its predecessors. If you enjoyed the Original 3 LEGO Star Wars games... AVOID THIS LIKE THE PLAGUE.
