A Basic Laptop for Basic Needs

It was kind of beefy for just a basic laptop and the specs of the laptop left more to be desired, however it would work for projects and word documents if a student needed a laptop for basic needs. The quality was alright, however I had some issues with the 4 GB of RAM, as over time the laptop became unbearably slow. Eventually wiped it and gave it to a buddy for their basic school needs.

With regard to learning your way around Windows 10, you may want to try YouTube.com (just type that address in your browser address window). There are hundreds for free instructional videos there about Windows 10. Just type Windows 10 Introduction in to the YouTube search window. You can watch free videos there that will show you the basics all the way up to tips and tricks videos and they're all free.

Okay for the price

It is slow I have a chrome book that responds better. The track pad is awful and I only use it if I can't use a mouse. It has basically become a desktop because I have to use a mouse because of how bad the track pad is. Save up a little extra money and buy a better laptop. I should have returned it but I waited too long so I use it when my kids or wife have my mac books tied up. I wanted my kids to experience the windows world so they are prepared when they get into the real world but they have no interest and will get on their iPhones before using this laptop.

Posted .With regard to the touchpad, you can make adjustments to the touchpad in your system settings. You can get there by clicking on the magnifying glass at the bottom left your Windows 10 screen. Type "touchpad" in the search window. Select "Mouse & touchpad settings" from the list of choices. You can make general adjustments to the touchpad there. You can also select "Additional mouse options" for more detailed adjustments to the touchpad sensitivity by increasing the delay of the touchpad.

Performance is adequate once you uninstall all the useless programs that are preloaded in this system. My main problem with this computer is that the right shift key is half the usual size, causing you to press the "up key" every time you want to capitalize a letter. This is a serious design flaw that is present in the new Ideapad and Yoga series (bought a Macbook Pro instead of a Yoga 910 as my main computer due to this issue). I hope Lenovo would issue replacement keyboards, but this is an old and widespread problem that is unlikely to be addressed by the manufacturer.

The only adware on this device is a 30-day trial of Microsoft Office 365, included with the Windows 10 operating system and a 30-day trial of McAfee virus protection. With regard to the right shift key issue you mention, there is a free software APP called KeyTweak that may help you. You can switch the key functions of specific keys on your keyboard with this software, so you could change the right shift key with the key you hit in its place. Just Google search "KeyTweak" and you will find articles about what the software does and you will find the download location for this free APP.
