Ok Laptop if on major sale, pretty disappointing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Given the specs and price-point of this laptop I obviously wasn't expecting anything great purchasing this. I purchased this for a relative who's not super tech savvy: just wanted to get them something functional for basic internet usage, document writing, etc. Having had this for about a month, the best I can say about it is that it kind of works? It's mostly functional, with a very simple, but relatively clean, design. However, it is just so incredibly, inexcusably slow, even for a $200 laptop. Videos often buffer for apparently no reason, even when you turn video quality down. Websites take seconds to load: I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but when you try to go to Google and it takes 4-5 seconds to get there it gets frustrating. Open more than 1 or 2 tabs in a web browser and the load times sometimes enter into 30+ seconds territory. The Wi-Fi card is also awful, very low quality. The charging cable is too short and bulky (though I knew this when purchasing, it was a concession I made for hopefully decent performance for the price...did not get that.) I've updated Bios and checked a whole bunch of other things, including troubleshooting with Lenovo Support. I can definitively say I recommend **not** purchasing this laptop.

Posted .We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo IdeaPad 130-15 laptop. This model ships with the latest 5G 802.11AC frequency WiFi. For optimum WiFi performance, be sure the router you are using has the latest firmware updates available from the router manufacturer's web site. Be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programing errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686.

I have never heard of Lenovo, but the sales rep at Best Buy told me it's an IBM product. That was a good sales point. I was afraid of Windows 10, but the sales rep said I'd just have to get used to new menus and 10 made everything easier. And the price was quite nice also. Bottom line, great laptop for the price.

There are hundreds for free instructional videos there about Windows 10. Just type Windows 10 Introduction in to the YouTube search window. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If the issue still continues after these updates, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help.

She needed something to do email, web browsing, social media, etc. and this was perfect for the job, especially considering the price tag. Great Deal for a Basic Laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was able to get this on sale as an open-box mode, and it's worth every penny! It's small, sleek, aesthetically pleasing and has a great feel to it. It will run Office, YouTube, web browsing and some lite games just fine out of the box, but if you're looking for much more than that up front (graphics/photo editing, CAD, more intensive gaming, etc.) and aren't handy enough to make upgrades yourself, then this might not be the one for you. I upgraded the RAM to 8Gb (the max) and swapped the original hard disk drive for an SSD and it runs like a CHAMP. It's the lightest weight laptop I've ever been able to run CAD on for work projects. My only real complaint about the construction is that the clips for the back panel make it hard to pry off without breaking them off. The back unscrews AND snaps on, and I definitely popped a couple clips off in the process of swapping out the hardware. The optical drive also came unseated and was a pain to get back in place and keep connected while reassembling the chassis. If you're not planning on taking it off, you can disregard that bit entirely. And if you are planning on making upgrades, don't let my criticism dissuade you. This model is still worth consideration, and despite the minor issues I had I don't regret buying it one bit!

It is more than fast enough for that purpose. If you consider that a single copy of windows cost about $100 you're getting a lot of computer for not much more money. My son is very happy
