    Beautiful but terribly slow

I struggled for two weeks before making the decision to return this. Honestly, it has a great build to it, nice style, great keyboard and silky smooth track pad and big hard drive. The problem unfortunately, is that it uses a conventional hard drive coupled with a measly 4 megs of RAM. Running Windows 10 and any of the big applications (think Microsoft Office) brought this laptop to its knees, waiting for apps to open. My toes would literally curl. I'm using this primarily for business - a portable to use when I'm not at my office desktop. But the sheer unresponsiveness or lag with virtually every application I threw at it led to me to look for an alternative. And I searched high and low. I looked at the Spectras from HP and looked at the ASUS books --- you can find things wrong with almost all of them - folks complaining about the heat they give off, etc. I also didn't want to drop $1500 bucks on a laptop. So I thought about the things I loved about this Lenovo laptop and decided to trade up to the Lenovo Yoga 720. I will tell you so far I've spent the day reloading all my apps and I absolutely love the Yoga 720. It's got a solid state drive (just 250 gigs) but it's got 8 megs of RAM and let me tell you -that makes all the difference in the world. Every app I throw at it literally pops! Opens quick. The unit does not seem to heat up. No noisy fan. It's got the same great keyboard and even backlit. Battery seems adequate. Do yourself a favor - spring for the extra few bucks to get the 720 because its the difference between having a computer that can keep up with you or having one that is constantly lagging behind you.

I bought this laptop to replace my 10yr old Toshiba Satellite 15.6" laptop. I was looking for something in stock around the $300-$500 price point that was smaller and sleeker than my Toshiba. I am primarily a web and word processing user but am also getting into coding and web development. I wanted to get my hands on a demo before I purchased a laptop so I went to the store. The look and feel of this laptop gave me the impression that it is of good quality. The top lid has a rubbery feel that is not sticky and seems to be scratch resistant so far. It took some time to get used to a smaller keyboard without a standalone number pad but I've found this keyboard to function well and be comfortable. My backspace key is a little squeaky but it may get quieter as it get's worn in. The awkwardness of getting used to a smaller keyboard is worth it for the overall portability and comfort of having a smaller laptop in various situations. I don't use the touch screen much but it is pretty responsive and convenient. I'm impressed with the battery life on this guy. I haven't really tracked how long it is lasting me under heavy use but I'm not worried about always having the charger and an outlet at the ready. This laptop is quiet and generates very little heat when in my lap. Every other little thing I love about this laptop is mainly due to having the features and benefits of a modern laptop! i.e. webcam, bluetooth connections, and larger hard drives. My one negative about this laptop would be that the RAM cannot be upgraded. It's not really a negative for me now, but it may be in the future.

    Little confidence in the laptop

    Posted

I waffled between one and two stars, deciding on two because both issues have been resolved relatively easily. I have had my IdeaPad for six weeks. I have already had to contact Lenovo support twice. Right out of the box, the sound was not working. My first support stop for this was a video that (ahem) required sound. Online support then said I needed to download some whatsit program to walk through a fix. As soon as the program loaded, I magically had sound. Today I had to call in because five keys were not working. The background noise at the service center made it nearly impossible to understand the support personnel. The person was helpful and the problem resolved, but the call was excruciating. I bought Lenovo after researching the best inexpensive laptops. I use one for research and writing, so I don't need media bells and whistles (but it is nice to hear them when needed). Reviews said the IdeaPad would be slow, which I can deal with, and I wasn't expecting fancy. But two calls in six weeks has shaken my confidence in the purchase. I wish I had bought another Toshiba (not sure why I didn't).

This new Lenovo IDEAPAD 2 in 1 is a great addition to the Lenovo 14 inch laptop family. It is competitively priced and has great features. It has one 3.1C HDMI port and two 3.0 HDMI ports. The keypad is second to none and this laptop has a speedy Pentium Gold processor. I used this laptop for about an hour before I installed a 8gb RAM chip and an Samsung 500gb SSD drive. Once I installed those upgrades this little laptop is as fast or faster than my I-5 laptop with an SSD drive as well. I exchanged the Lenovo Flex 4 that is sold by Best Buy for this because I like the feel of the keyboard, color and small features better on this IDEAPAD better. If you don't mind upgrading the RAM 8gb and Installing a SSD drive, then this computer is a steal for all of the features that it comes with.

    A Beautiful Disappointment

Bought this as a gift for myself in January of this year (2018); the look and feel of it is gorgeous! That is until after a few months. I only use it for online things, and I use maybe ... 40 GB? Out of the total 440 GB on Drive C: and almost 2 GB on Lenovo Drive D: Usually I delete what I do not need, and this is often. But honestly, the darn thing is so slow, I can hardly do anything with it! Even if I keep to 2 open tabs, it freezes up on me sometimes! I've gone through any "uneeded" apps and such, and literally have nothing extra running... At one point I did the "fresh start" (In May this year), hoping it would help, but it made it even worse! Yikes... I've tried everything and am at my wits ends that I paid almost $400 for this hunk of junk! :'( I would NOT recommend; my last laptop was way cheaper and lasted a heck of a lot longer. It's just too bad I spent so much on it; because now I cannot afford a new, better laptop either way :(

This is an entry level, light use system with its Intel Pentium processor. It is not meant for multi-tasking or demanding programs. It is good for Microsoft Office and light internet browsing. If this describes your computing needs, the IdeaPad 330-15 would be a good choice. lenovo

It is a great value for the price. While it is not a powerhouse laptop, it was the perfect gift for my wife. Her use mainly consists of keeping up on Facebook, email, messaging, surfing the net and simple online gaming during the day. In the evening she uses it to stream television shows from Netflix and Hulu. She loves the fact that the keyboard can fold back into presentation mode for this and that the touchscreen allows for easy navigation. The sound quality from the built in speakers is what you would expect from a laptop so is usable, but she generally uses headphones when streaming. For me, the screen resolution is a little low but for her it works just fine. In fact, a higher resolution display would be money wasted for her as she likes the larger text for readability. All in all, if there is a better laptop for the money at this price point.

The price is OK with some issues. One of my complaints that it has no option to upgrade the system memory (RAM) to higher speed, but in specification it described as expendable up to 16Gb, which is FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. Second concern is more related to BestBuy insulting policy regarding customer's valuation system; If you have everything at home and don;t need to buy anything or do't have sufficient funds to spend several thousand a month than you deserving the poorest approach with 14 days only return or price adjustment policy. The price of the laptop dropped by $80 dollars 20 days after purchase and the "discriminating" policy not letting any price adjustment because you didn't spend several thousands and cannot be treated as "valuable" for them. Next time first choice will be amazon; I never had such issues with them.

I purchased this laptop for my “work from home job” I wanted a touchscreen for my convenience. After using it a month, when drawing a circle it is no longer a smooth circle but choppy(the circle has sharp edges if that makes sense) not sure if the screen can be collaborated haven’t figured it out yet. Also if the laptop detected something it would turn the laptop off in the middle of me working (I understand this maybe a safeguard). For the type of what I do this is not acceptable I could lose money or my job if it happen to many times. I brought a iPad as a backup. I will be returning. I would recommend but I would also share my encounters. This laptop is very light, it doesn’t have a Ethernet port so I had to buy a adapter and it only had two USB ports.

My "real" computer crashed, and I needed something to keep working. This had the power, low price, and good brand name (to me, so far). It's my first 2-in-1, touch screen (other than a phone); and I like those features. My only dislikes are because I didn't spend more for a bigger screen and bigger hard drive. But for portability and back up computer, it's great. Power has been plenty for creative programs (I'm not a power gamer though). Only issue: I get a message the BIOS need to update, but each time I say okay and it tries to update, it fails. Other (windows) updates have worked smoothly. I like Windows 10 better than 8, but who doesn't?

If you need a laptop do not get this one. You can run 1/2 a mile before it boots up. No power at all. Your better off getting a budget tablet for the price for movies and entertainment. If you need a laptop, save up and get a better one. This one is probably the slowest one I have ever purchased. I returned it within days of not being able to get it to do anything. For 150 or 200 more you will get more bang for your buck. I spent 300 more and got what feels like triple the power and performance, more storage and an all around better buy. I also found my current laptop online not sold at Best Buy. This is too expensive for what you get.

I needed a small laptop that could run a few programs, and a few older games. This was definitely it for me. It runs my Rosetta Stone, and old computer games really great. I love that I can fold it in half in tablet mode, and make notes with the "ink pen." I bought a case to go with it, so when I leave for lunch I can take it with me to browse the web, or whatever I need to do remotely. I even have let friends borrow it who have also ended up purchasing the same laptop. It's pretty awesome, and you should check it out. If you're not a heavy gamer or online type of person it will work for you.

I looked for a couple of months before I finally settled on this laptop and when I got home I charged it and after charging it I turned it on and from the start up it was laggy and annoying... I am not sure if I got a faulty laptop or what but it is almost like it has too much junk on it and is keeping the laptop from working properly. I should have taken it back to return it but was so busy that I forgot about it and didn't return it within the 30 day window...that's on me but now I have a laptop that I am unhappy with and l honestly don't even want to use because of how slow and glitchy it is.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 2 in 1 14" laptop is an entry level, light use system with its Intel Pentium processor, 4GB of RAM and a standard 500GB hard drive. With regard to slow boot up, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programing errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. lenovo

I bought this laptop 3 week ago when my Dell laptop totally crashed, it had lasted about 6 years, so no complaints. I am having the same trouble as I did with the old laptop, slow connection, but also unable to connect to sites to make my car payment, credit card payment, etc. I see trouble already, worse than with my old laptop, so I need to get back to Best Buy for help :( I will add that this was an 'open box' sale, a return or otherwise, saving me about $50 off the 'new' price. I'm not sure if this is relevant or not, I am thinking that it is the laptop itself, as it was as good as new in the box when I purchased it.

A friend bought me a Compaq laptop years ago as a Christmas gift which was awesome. It was my first one. The motherboard gave out and although I could replace the motherboard, I found out from the computer tech that the laptop had a defect and it would've killed the motherboard again. This time I bought a Lenovo because I've heard some good things about it. I love the fact that's its user friendly and it was on sale. I do hate that it doesn't have a cd drive, but I know most laptop they make now don't carry them anymore. All in all, it's great especially on trips or when I don't want to fire up the desktop!

Bought this laptop when it was on sale for $100 off. Only planning on using this as backup laptop and to bring with me on vacations and traveling. I have upgraded to 8 gb ram and swapped out regular 500 gb disk hard drive for 500 gb SSD (from old previous broken laptop). Speed has improved a good deal, though still not going to play any games on it. Otherwise, just planning on using for email, simple internet browsing, watching videos, streaming, and light duty Microsoft Office work. This is a good decent laptop for simple use. Touchscreen not too bad either.

Honesty after opening this product I have had problems. Certain websites don't open correctly, it is very slow, sometimes it doesn't correctly switch from laptop to tablet mode, and purchases in the app store through Microsoft will be processed on my credit card, but will never download (the process of getting refunded took 3 hours because I was transferred 6 times because no one knew what they were doing when I called customer service). This was a waste of money, and I wish I did not hesitate and had returned it. I would not recommend this product to a friend.

the laptop runs at a good pace and has expandable storage (replaceable hard drive, 1 ram slot up to 16gb, and a NVME m.2 slot for SSD) the problem is the LCD screen is so bad when you tilt it slightly off angle the entire screen washes out which makes a 2in1 tilting screen useless. The colors are beyond terrible and you have to have the brightness at 100% to even see the screen. The keyboard and trackpad are really good too. You can have all the good features in a laptop like this but they are all useless if the screen is this bad.

So I purchased this as a gift on December 24, 2017. The hard drive that comes with it is a joke and would crash Illustrator constantly with only 4gb of RAM. I installed an SSD which worked great and the computer still worked. I then upgraded the memory to 16gb and the computer wouldn't turn on, not even a charge light when plugged in. My girlfriend has a cheap HP she got from Walmart in 2008 and it still works fine, but this piece of garabage quits after a RAM upgrade. Don't waste your time with Lenovo products and stick with HP.

Purchased for a friend - she LOVES it. Performance is more than adequate for typical online shopping, YouTube, Netflix, etc, touchscreen is responsive, and the hinges feel like they will stand the test of time (this was important as the hinges failed on her previous laptop). Don’t know that it’s still for sale but we do recommend this laptop to all but the most demanding power user - it does a lot for not a lot of money.
