    Very slow, not impressed

I loved it when I unboxed it. Lightweight and sleek, which compared to my old laptop is a big plus. I turned it on and it took a while for it to set up, which I thought was fine because it was the first time booting up. The browsing speeds are *so* painfully slow. I can't even download basic programs (chrome or Spotify) without hitting some sort of wall and it just stops downloading. I did a reset of the computer and a clean update of windows, which I thought would solve the problem, and it absolutely did not. I'm very upset because I need a reliable computer for college and now I'm back at square one.

This laptop is AWFUL. I bought this laptop on Thursday and it is now Tuesday and the battery does not even last 2 hours. I did not start using it until Friday late night, So it should last longer than it is. This would NOT be good for a kid to take to school with them because WHERE would they plug it in at? The keypad is weird as can be. I just don't like it and I had asked around before I even settled on getting it. I do believe I am going to take it back. I am non to happy with it.

    dim screen, weird shift key

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Bought this because of the price, but returned in 3 days. When I unplugged the power cord, the screen dims to an uncomfortable level, without being able to get the brightness up. If your in a well lit room, no problem, but low light room, big problem. I read reviews about the shift key location, figured I could get used to it. No way, I know Lenovo will respond with their fix of downloading a program to move the shift key, but that isn't a fix to me. Anyway, take this into consideration when deciding on this or another.

It sounds like your power management setting is currently set to dim the screen when on battery. You can change this in the Control Panel. Click the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your screen. Type "Control Panel" within the search window. Click on Control Panel from the list. Type "Power" in the Control Panel search window at the top right of the window. Select "Choose A Power Plan" from the list. The power management plan you are current using will be highlighted. Click on the "Change Plan Settings" at the end of the power management name. Within the window that opens you will see "On Battery" and "Plugged In". There is a screen brightness slider for both on battery and plugged in. Be sure both sliders are set to the same level for both on battery and plugged in. Save your changes. Now your screen won't dim when on battery. Finally, with regard to the right shift key issue you mention, yes, our response to fix this issue is that, there is a free software APP called KeyTweak that may help you. You can switch the key functions of specific keys on your keyboard with this software, so you could change the right shift key with the key you hit in its place. Just Google search "KeyTweak" and you will find articles about what the software does and you will find the download location for this free APP. lenovo

I only use this laptop to watch Netflix and I still can’t stand it. I had wanted to use it for much more but have become so irritated with the laptop that I’ve succumb to only streaming. It’s slow and freezes all the time. The screen often goes black for no reason and it needs to be force shut down and rebooted. I have nothing downloaded on this laptop because I don’t want it to be any slower or more glitchy.

Would you accept buying a new car then finding that it started but did nothing else. How the tech industry gets away with this nonsense amazes me. I bought a similar laptop 5 years ago and had no issues getting up and running. On this one I've given up and will be taking it back.

This system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the left side of the device, right near the power plug port on the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Plug the device in. Let the battery charge for about 15 minutes. Push the reset button. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose "Restore To Factory Default". Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. If you don't have copies of the files, try to make one before you restore by selecting "Boot to desktop" and trying to back up your files. lenovo

Very dissapointed in this PC! Hours to setup!

I purchased this PC today, and my 6th grader was so excited to finally have her own computer with which she can do schoolwork on, surf the web, and run SIMS 4 on. I first turned it on at around 8PM this evening, and it is STILL loading updates at past midnight, OVER 4 HOURS LATER! It's at about 16% 'working on updates' right now, as I type (on my other PC). This is beyond ridiculous! My past Win 7 and Vista machines took all but 10 minutes to get up and running, but this Win 10 machine is beyond slow to set up initially! And this is with a fast cable net connection too (I did a speed test at 40 Mbps)! I am probably going to return this in the coming days, and look for a used Win 7 machine for her. Highly dissapointed.

So far...worst laptop I've ever used

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I got this because the price was right. I have used it sparingly over the course of the last two months. Even the most simple of tasks cannot be completed by this laptop. Things such as browsing and importing pictures once my device is connected cant even get done. Windows 10 on here is absolutely horrible. Everything is slow. Now I know what I was buying wasn't a race car as far as laptops but this is unacceptable. After only having it 1-2 mos, I turned it on today and got the blue screen. I have a lenovo for work and it works fine but most likely a higher end corporate model. I would not buy this one again.

    Screen Colour is really weird!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I drove to the USA from Canada to purchase this laptop yesterday and am quite disappointed! The screen colour is quite blue and fuzzy, unlike my Toshiba laptop. We have tried everything to figure out how to change it but nothing seems to work! It's not as bright even though the setting is at 100% brightness now and the colouring is very "not white." It's actually quite frustrating because my eyes can't seem to focus or adjust to it!!

"page up" key is located where right shift key should be and causes major problems when you press "page up" instead of "right shift" - especially in excel (wipes out data in other cells). I am SO sorry I purchased this laptop. I bought it for my job. Keytweak requires you to be computer programmer to use so I cannot re-map keys on my own.

This system should provide good speed with its AMD A-6 processor and 4GB of RAM. Be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programing errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. lenovo
