It's light weight, starts up quickly and has a great battery life. He's not doing heavy gaming or word processing so it's the perfect tool for him. Haven’t had any problems as i use this for work. Streams movies pretty great when I’m not. Overall I think it’s a good comp if your in a budget.

My favorite feature is that it is touchscreen, and you can also covert it to lay the screen flatly as if it were a tablet.

Boots up quickly, and has the essential apps required to read emails and surf the web. It can also be folded up like a YOGA into a pad. And it has touch screen. CONS - need to support SD drive so that I could insert an external drive to store video and photos. But, this is not so bad, because it does have USB ports to connect to external portable drives (e.g. like the 4TB WD drive for $80 from Best Buy).

This was a birthday gift for my 8 year old nephew and he REALLY loves it. I haven't tried downloading any large games but he downloaded a ton apps and it still runs pretty well

The battery life is pretty good (about 5-8 hours). The boot up takes about 30 seconds. Just don't game on it though its not designed to do that.

Regarding slow boot up of your Chromebook, Chromebooks rely on your Internet speed and if it's slow or unreliable, it messes with your Chromebook. Google's Chrome Connectivity Diagnostics is a detailed analysis of what is slowing you down. It does a better job than a standard speed test because it considers the unique factors Chromebooks rely on. We like the touchscreen interface, and how we can bend back the screen to use it as a tablet. It certainly is great to use the Chrome OS instead of Windows—we have two PC laptops that constantly bug us for updates every.single.day. For media consumption, emails, internet browsing, and general everyday work it is more than sufficient. The screen is even quite bright, clear, and defined (even better than our pricier Dell PC laptops). It goes on sale often, so I would not buy it for the regular price; we bought it for about $50 off, but I’ve read that it goes even lower for Black Friday and the holidays.
