I bought this laptop in an "Open Box" sale. This computer was returned to Best Buy and the Geek Squad had gone over it and approved it for resale. I had no idea why it had been returned. From day one, the computer would freeze up and I would have to reboot. I don't think this is a fair review for this computer because I did buy it used.

This laptop is good for every day internet browsing and simple documents. However, its dimensions and weight make it difficult to carry around. The number pad layout, which overlaps with the arrow keys make using the number pad to type out longer numbers annoying until you're used to it.

I purchased this laptop for my son's first semester at college after getting a recommendation from a store employee. I gave it to him in an unopened box the 3rd week of August. He used it in until he had to bring it home the first weekend in November because he couldn't get it to boot up. It's just a black screen. It's now been sent out for repair and the store tech I spoke to said that sometimes hard drives just don't last as long as they should. Now its a 2 to 4 week wait, assuming my warranty covers it. Very frustrated.

As I only got to enjoy laptop for less then 2 weeks before it wouldn't power up again . It's almost going on a month since it was shipped out to Lenovo since sorry geek squad couldn't fix. Also didn't like Best Buy changing return days from 30 like everyone else to now 14 days. Bunch of bull and if laptop comes back does same thing I will create havoc .

The laptop I purchased is a great Lenovo product. It suits my needs quite well and I enjoy using it. I have never used a flat keyboard before, but have plugged in a raised keyboard. This provides a more comfortable and familiar surface to type from.

I have had issues with the laptop since buying it. Needed to get in touch with the geek squad on line once and had to bring it into the store twice. Am planning to bring it in again since it's slowing down and I'm having problems again.

Sensational value, especially if you can BYO-RAM

    Posted .

'Bring your own RAM," is what I mean of course :). So yeah, 4GB is a little lower than the industry standard for RAM on laptops, but that didn't stop me, nor should it stop you from buying this computer at this price. Chances are you can easily remove a 4GB chip from an old laptop, or grab one on the interwebs for like $12-15 at most. Fortunately, I had an old 4GB chip to bring to the party, and this laptop's existing 4GB chip only occupies one of two available ports. So two mini-screws and about 60 seconds later - BOOM! I've got 8GB of RAM, and now this thing is really humming. Trust me when I say you really don't need to be a tech expert to do this. If you're feeling richer, you can spend $60-70 on a pair of 8GB RAM chips, and boost the memory to its maximum capacity of 16GB. But for now, I'll take 8GB for free :). Anyway, the intrinsic value of this Lenovo beast is in the processor, and that wonderful 17.3" screen. Yes, it's just an Intel Core i3, but it's a 6th generation i3, so it moves as fast as a lot of 5th generation i5 processors, ones they're still putting in a lot of "new" laptops these days. I'm not into touchscreens on computers, so I don't care that this one isn't. Despite the huge display, it remains thinner and about the same weight as my old 15.6" laptop. So there's the verdict. I'm not saying 4GB RAM is unbearable, especially if your main exploits are web browsing and email. But still, with just a little investment in a RAM upgrade, you can have a pretty serious machine for a really low price. I know there's mixed reviews here, but unless you get a lemon, you can't go wrong with this thing. Mine was $307 in Excellent Certified Open-Box condition. Again, awesome bang for the buck.
