    Does what I need

This computer does what I need now that I have purchased Microsoft Word for it. Since what this was my first computer purchase, I would have appreciated knowing that before I bought it. I'm using it for Zoom videos and the camera is a little bit fuzzy. The DVD playing quality is great. I use an ice blue microphone and I disabled the computer microphone in order to get that to work so if I am not carrying my microphone with me I have no sound in Zoom or any other web platform that I am trying to speak on.

    Good basic laptop

Normally I use Macs but I needed an expensive Windows machine with a gigabit ethernet connection and this Lenovo laptop met that criteria. Unfortunately, the sales person didn't know much about this computer and told me it had 4 RAM memory slots and thus could be upgraded. WRONG! It has 4 Gig's of RAM onboard that cannot be replaced and 1 RAM slot with a 2 Gig module which can be replaced. It comes with a bunch of junk software, mostly trials. So if you don't want those programs, you will need to spend time uninstalling them. Also, I just learned from Lenovo support that once you charge up the battery you need to unplug the charger from both the wall and the computer. Seems Windows has some type of "safety" feature that blocks the charger from continuing to charge after 90%. If you want to get to 100% charge you need to let the battery drain entirely and then re-charge it. That is inconvenient. NOTE: the charger gets noticeably warm if you leave it plugged into the wall, so you need to unplug it from there if your laptop is charged. I have noticed that the machine is getting slower and slower to boot up and perform tasks. I attribute that to Windows since initially the computer was reasonably fast. It has the latest 8th generation i3 CPU and DDR4 RAM. If you want a really great screen, then this is not the laptop for you. On the other hand if you just need a laptop, and not watching a bunch of HD stuff, then the screen is okay for every day computing. I may not be the best person to review a Windows machine, given my affinity for Macs, so consider the source when reading this review. I find generally Macs are better built, but also they are more expensive than this Lenovo. You get what you pay for. However, this Lenovo is pretty much serving the purpose for which I bought it, though eventually I will need to upgrade the one upgradeable RAM module. I look forward to the day when I don't have to use Windows at all and can stick to the Mac environment.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaPad 330-15 laptop. There is only one trial software program installed on this device, there is a 30-day trial of McAfee Software installed. Windows 10 comes with a 30-day trail of Microsoft Office 365. This configuration ships with 8GB of RAM. To maximize battery life, if you plug the charger into the device when the battery is at 90%, the battery will only trickle charge to maintain the charge at 90%. To charge to 100%, let the battery charge go down to at least 30%, then charge the device. If the charger is plugged into the wall but not plugged in to the computer, there charger should not feel warm, as there is no completed circuit. With regard to the device slowing down, be sure all software you have installed is compatible with Windows 10. Great Up-To-Date Laptop with a few catches

    |
    Posted .

Purchased this laptop in the open box rack and I figured out why this laptop got returned in the first place. 1. The laptop is extremely slow once it turns on and connects to internet for the first time. Give it some patience and upgrade to an SSD after Windows completes it initial setup. Lenovo included a migration application "Acronics True Image" which can be found in Lenovo App Explorer. 2. Wifi is not using Intel Solution and can only reach top speed of 433Mbps on Wireless AC even with 5 bars. It can be fixed by swapping it with an Intel solution or plugin an Ethernet cable. Other than these two catches, this is a great laptop. If you want to save some upgrading time, you might want too spend more on the Core i5 model which came with an SSD but you still have to deal with somewhat disappointing Wifi Solution.

My family and I were in search of a new laptop for work, school and everyday needs , we stumbled upon this laptop and was immediately impressed with the value for the price , feeling the excitement of the new pc we rushed home opened it and started it up . We were immediately impressed with the speed size and ease of set up 8 gb of ram with a intel i3 accompanied by 1tb of storage at the given price! It was a absolute no brainer and I would definitely buy again . We are completely satisfied with our purchase!!

    Perfect as a basic laptop

    Posted .

Lenovo did a great job balancing the components of this laptop. It has everything you need for basic browsing and Office. While nothing about the laptop is amazing, nothing is terrible either. As I said, it has everything you need for a very good price. The i3-8130 is quite fast (PassMark 5123) which compares favorably with an i5-7200u (4636). It only has two cores, so won't be a great multi-tasker, but has about the same single core rating as the i5-8250u. So should be really good for most things. The 8 GB of memory seems to be an ideal amount. I usually don't use more than about 60% of that. It is not a gaming machine, but the Intel 620 graphics is not bad (passmark 995, an NVDIA GTX 1050 is 4566). I tried running the Unigine "Heaven" benchmark and it gave about 16 fps on high with normal tessellation as compared with 66 fps for an i7 6700HQ/GTX 960M combination. The screen is matte, which I prefer. It is not very bright. I have an old Acer from 2012 and I would say 100% brightness on the Lenovo is about the same as 75% on the Acer. The default on battery is 50% and I had to turn that up to about 70% to have a reasonable screen intensity. I like the keyboard, it has a nice feel. I had an older Lenovo 310. That also had a keyboard with a nice feel, but Lenovo screwed that one up by making the right enter key half size to make room for a full size up arrow key. I was always making typos. Lenovo has fixed this with the 330 (upper and lower arrow keys are half height and the enter key is full size!). They also added lights on the caps lock and scroll lock keys, which is a nice touch. There are two USB 3 and a USB C port as well as an HDMI port, SD card reader and ethernet RJ45. The laptop is "left-handed" in that all the ports are on the left side. My wife prefers a corded mouse, so no USB port on the right side means running the cord all the way around the back (unless you are left-handed). The 1 TB hard drive is no better than in the 310 (2016) or Acer (2012). If I could change one thing on this laptop, it would be to support Optane memory as a cache for the hard drive. That would be a nice compromise over a full SSD. However, I chatted with Lenovo and even though the 330 has an 8th generation Intel processor, they said you could not add Optane memory. I think it does not have an M2 slot. The other limitation of the 330 is the battery life. It seems to be about the same as the 310, around 3.5 hours. I found a 10 minute YouTube video dropped 5% from the battery charge, which is consistent with that estimate. On the plus side, it has a DVD drive, which I still find useful. I originally went looking for a machine with a 1920x1024 ips screen, an i5-8250U, 8 GB of memory, Optane memory, a 1 TB HDD and 6-8 hours on battery. The reviews of the laptops in my budget (~$500) typically had 1920x1024 TN displays that were not well reviewed and either a 256 GB SSD or a 1 TB HDD. Often they did not have a DVD drive. They were often also described as getting somewhat hot. By the time I got to laptops where all the upgrades were good quality, I was in the $700-800 range. So I am pretty happy having chosen the Lenovo. It's one step down from my "perfect" laptop, but at half the price it is an excellent value.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaPad 330-15 laptop. This configuration has the 8th Generation Intel Core i3-8130U processor. This is a Dual-Core/Four-Thread processor. The screen on this model has a resolution of 1366 X 768 (HD) and a brightness level of 200 nits. This model has a battery life of up to 5 hours, depending on the work that the device is performing. This model does have a CD/DVD-RW drive built in. lenovo

I bought this to do my everyday home duties, like paying bills and making sure to keep up with my family and friends. It ended up being a computer to do my homework on. I was able to download software required to do my college homework and still have space to add on other things. It's been a real lifesaver. Originally I was going to buy a Chromebook, but they had this in a glass container for displayed (used) items, and the price was lower than a comparable Chromebook. It was completely worth it!

Great Back up Computer to have around.

    Posted .

I had to bring my 4 year old 17 inch Laptop in to Geek Squad twice in 7 days time due to not being allowed to sign in . The 2nd time I brought it in I decided to buy a back up computer. The Lenovo 15 inch computer is a great little computer. I love the keyboard on this computer. The letters are much larger and easy to see. The keys seem flatter and a little bit larger than my 17" which making it easier to type letters on it. It is the right size to pick up and go in comparison to my 17 inch laptop. The Lenovo has enough software to accomplish what you need to get done. The Graphics are great. It's like the pictures have more depth to them with Brilliant Colors. It has enough power and speed for emails, internet shopping, typing letters, documents, etc. I have not print out any pictures yet but I'm sure they will come out beautifully. This Lenovo is just what I needed. It is a Great back up Computer to have around. I enjoy working on the Lenovo-330-151 KB Laptop.

Great value for a reasonable price

    Posted .

The laptop is kind of big, but not too heavy. Nice keypad touch with gray keys instead of black for a change. Good specs: plenty of memory and hard drive space for my needs, 8th gen Core i3 processor helps with fairly fast boot-up and app launches. Nice that you can still find a laptop with optical drive. Wish it had one more USB port (only came with 2). It was between this one and an identically-priced Asus with comparable specs, but with 3 USB ports and 6GB RAM. So far the Lenovo seems to be a good choice.

The build is pretty good here. Plastics are a little thinner than the similarly-spec'd HP it competes against. Wireless AC is good, has a DVD drive, battery life is pretty decent. I also like that it's easy to get apart, as the entire bottom pops off without a ton of force. This is what I did first, to add a solid state drive. Now, it boots in 7 seconds and opens everything at the drop of a hat.

This is a reliable basic computer. It holds a charge for several hours, is sturdy, and has more than enough memory. Our main complaint is the frequent updates and how it slows the computer. Although this may be more of a Windows complaint this computer is slower than our other computer which is am i7 with a faster processor. For the price, this computer cannot be beat.
