Windows 10 is bad, so ignoring that fact, this computer doesn't have the hardware capable of running all the unnecessary but still somehow mandatory processes that windows 10 has as well as the fact that it's well known that lenovo (not windows) installs spyware on their machines prior to shipping.

This is a great laptop for personal use - its fast, good touch screen, great keyboard that lights up, battery life is good, great amount of memory, wifi reception/speed is great and it's lightweight and thin. The main problems with the laptop are: 1. it uses a micro HDMI which do not provide strong connections like a USB and if you wish to connect to a TV or a monitor, the micro end is very loose and easily disconnects from the laptop; 2. there is no CD/DVD drive so you must buy an external drive; 3. the power source connection is known to have problems and my son's wore out after 5 months (I bought 2). Overall , this is a great laptop but I would never recommend it for business since the monitor connection using the micro HDMI is poor quality, there are only 2 USB connections and there is no ethernet port/interface, this is a wifi only laptop although you can buy another cable to connect from ethernet to USB...however, keep in mind you only have 2 USB's.

    Great Laptop but...

This laptop is great value for the money and I would highly recommend it. HOWEVER, a few gripes. 1) Do yourself a favor and get an SSD for this machine because the standard hard drive is HORRID. Seriously, spend an extra $80 and get a 256GB SSD, It makes the machine extremely snappy. 2) The display is quite dim. I may be a little spoiled with my desktop and my bright monitors but this display is definitely in the lower 200 nit area. It's not necessarily bad by any means but it can get frustrating when you use the laptop for an extended amount of time. 3) Battery Life. A computer with a dim display, low wattage CPU, no dedicated graphics, and an SSD, and I still can't grab more than 5 hours of battery?? What gives Lenovo? My old Macbook Pro with Retina Display was smaller, had a brighter and higher resolution display, and basically the same CPU, and it still managed 7-8 hours of battery life with ease... It's most likely a Windows problem but still, 5 hours of battery life without a legitimate real reason? Really? Despite the gripes, overall this is a well-built machine with horsepower to drive almost all common programs with ease. The aluminum build is quality and the machine is quite sturdy in the hand. The touchscreen is accurate and the track pad is decent. What more can I say? This laptop has everything you need if you plan on doing productivity work, school, etc. DO NOT expect to game on this model of computer, it is very poor in graphical horsepower. With all this said, go buy this laptop, put an SSD in it, install Windows 10, and enjoy.

Pulled the trigger and purchased a new lap top after my nine-year old Acer finally would do no more. Intelligent discussion with sales rep at Best Buy yesterday afternoon had me returning to this model after looking at others--both more and less expensive. Downloaded, installed and ran Windows 10 last night with no trouble. I have Xfinity's X1 Triple Play package so my Wifi was performing with good speed. Sweet and easy set up from the moment i turned it on. Touch screen is great. Love it, especially for an old dog (I'm 66) learning new tricks. For me, a lot of it is intuitive. I had Windows XP on the old Acer and have Windows 7 on the office PC. I am running Creative Suite 4 (InDesign) and love how fast it runs.

I've owned it for several days now. It's a great laptop.. so far, but too early to tell. Anyway, I just wanted to WARN everyone about the preinstalled software SUPERFISH, which IS on this model. Lenovo issued an apology last week about it. Here's one of the latest articles on Lenovo getting sued: http://www.pcworld.com/article/2887392/lenovo-hit-with-lawsuit-over-superfish-snafu.html Here's how to check if your laptop has it: https://filippo.io/Badfish/ Here's how to uninstall it: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/product_security/superfish_uninstall That is all! Good luck.

More to laptop purchase than specifications

    Posted .

Had this laptop for 1 month of use and 3 weeks (so far) at Lenovo repair center. Pros: excellent screen quality, responsive and quiet, easily assessable components for HD and RAM upgrade, reasonable price. Cons: Laptop has a Wifi recall on certain models (mine was recalled - purchased in Nov 2014), absolutely terrible customer service (can't find parts to replace defective WIFI, they offered a refund through higher level management - however no response to email and phone communication with higher management to find status of refund (no response to email and phone messages), chat line support doesn't work - I'm still waiting for the status of my refund - not sure when or if it will come), trackpad can be a little strange because of the large buttons areas. Because of the bad customer support, I will avoid Lenovo products in the future. There's more to a computer than good design and specifications (reliability and support are top priority to build a loyal customer base).

    I'm so upset with BestBuy!

i had a very hard time finding a good laptop at Best Buy. Usually, the customer service is great. But last night, the customer service reps were more concerned with sitting down, texting and hanging out instead of helping customers. The sales associated ( brooklyn location) convinced me this was a good laptop (blowing me off). I left that location and went to another Best-Buy further away from my house. I end up purchasing the same laptop at this location from the supervisor. After i make it home, i open and set up this laptop, it crashed 4 times back to back. The screen has been unresponsive 4 times now. After 5 minutes of using it, i had so much spam on my computer, i couldn't read my email. Theres so much bloat wear on this computer it isn't funny. Its very glitchy. I've never owed nor used Lenovo products. I don't think i will ever buy another one. i'm very dissatisfied with this purchase and with Best Buy. I will be returning it later on today. A SAD EXPERIENCE!!!!!

Had to purchase for a new sales employee. So I ask him what he thought of it. His reply "You couldn't have picked a better laptop. It's feels durable with its metal case and its the perfect size for having to take it with me everywhere I go......You have some awesome swag Sir." True story.

The computer over all is phenomenal. It runs everything perfectly and smoothly. I'm a design student so I need photoshop & illustrator; it runs smoothly BUT the battery is a little weird. I've already sent it in for repair once because suddenly the computer wouldn't turned on, plugged into the charger, nothing. And it just recently broke down on me again. So that is my only con for this computer.

I've had this x 24 hr.s and while the brushed aluminum chassis and touchscreen are nice and light, this laptop is so slow it's like being on dial up all over again. The screen is lovely though even at it's brightest setting is somewhat dim. The lighted keyboard is excellent-though takes a bit getting used too-the separate number pad is a nice touch. All in all, even though the price for the specifications seems good at the $599 sale price- I just can't recommend this build. It takes over a minute for pages to load and not even heavy on the graphics. Lots of bloatware, no biggie that can be removed. I don't think this would be a good laptop even for just surfing the web. My 2 year old iphone is much faster on the same wifi. It sure looks pretty but it doesn't have any guts at all. Sorry BB & Lenovo, but I will be returning this in the morning.

PROS: great full sound and hi-end feel and appearance of keyboard and laptop in general. CONS: everything else. either will not connect to wifi, or drops wifi, SLOW, BLOATware,, no DVD player I wanted to keep this computer; it was beautiful to touch and feel, but it was just too slow to load pages, and connect to internet. Could not get any pages to load upstairs despite wifi showing strength and other devices connecting without difficulty. I read in some online forums of similar problems so after 14 days I returned it and purchased a HP Envy 15.6" (K211DX) for more money and the new 5th gen intel I7. Working amazing so far compared to the Lenova. Don't waste your time and money on this computer

Our new Lenovo laptop is wonderful. We are streaming videos faster than with our old machine. The Geek Squad did a great job transferring our files and putting the new software on.
