It is a good deal for an inexpensive 2 in 1
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok for what it is, but it does freeze. Otherwise, it is ok for basic functions. The cursor is not very reactive.

Good For Travel, Light Use; Limited Upgradability
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a unit that was cost effective as well as versatile as a 2-in-1. Most 2-in-1 units either come with the restrictive Intel Atom processor that limits functionality (Surface RT comes to mind) or exceed $500. The Lenovo Flex 3 11" comes with an Intel Celeron dual-core processor, so it's a legitimate, albeit low end, PC for less than $300. This model comes with 2 USB 2.0 and a USB 3.0 port, as well as an ethernet connection and full HDMI output, yet the limited graphic processing power does hinder any dual monitoring you may wish to do #but running on an HDTV or HDMI Monitor is not problematic#. The 4GB of RAM is soldered to the mobo, so that is a downside for users who like to upgrade. However, the 500GB 5400rpm HDD is removable, so installing a SSD would be a great and inexpensive way to vastly improve performance. Battery life is solid, as a full charge with moderate use can net about 4 hours, and while I didn't test in airplane mode, I do believe that there would be a great extension of the running time #an SSD would also improve this, as they use substantially less power than a HDD#. In the end, this is good little machine for day to day work and light travel, but don't expect too much bang for your buck.

It would be a nice if it worked properly
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Computer set up just fine. Used it for about 3 weeks then it couldn't find a network and the sound would also lock up. I would have to reset the sound but still unable to see any networks.

Celeron Bottleneck
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using this hardware for about 2 full months now. I bought it full price, but when a promotion made it cheaper, I just took the receipt to the store within 2 week after the purchase and BestBuy refunded the difference. DESIGN Very NON-CHEAP FEEL for the price. The keyboard has VERY LITTLE KEY-TRAVEL. Also, try not to notice too much the WIDE BEZELS as they make the screen look small compared to the notebook itself. I chose this model mainly because of the MANY PORTS available, which is hard to find in a notebook this size nowadays. Although it's a struggle to take the Ethernet cable out. This model is really thin and light and has a rubber-like top that makes it feel very durable. I found the mousepad large and sensitive enough to be comfortable. HARDWARE The main issue I found with this model is the processor. The performance loss is really noticeable if you come from a i3 or better. Celerons are based on the Pentium processors and have less features like smaller L2 cache and weak multi-processing performance. BUT this is what makes this model cheap! To be fair, it is reasonably usable for light tasks. The model has 4GB OF SOLDERED RAM, so no upgrade possible. Although, I don't know why would you want more than that with a Celeron. It's plenty for normal usage. The second issue I've had was with the HD. 500GB is plenty of storage, but it really makes Windows REALLY slow. I'd recommend upgrading to a SSD ASAP, or at least a hybrid. Another reason it makes it cheap. CONNECTIVITY The Intel Wireless-AC 3160 wireless card performs well and is capable of taking advantage of 5G networks. This model has a FULL SIZE HDMI output and RJ-45 interface, which is hard to find in these kinds of notebooks. It doesn't have a VGA out, but there are adapters for that. It has 3 USB ports, all capable of charging when turned off and one of which is 3.0. Also, a card reader. BATTERY I usually get 4 to 5 hours of web browsing and word processing or about 3 hours if watching videos and movies. I found it to be acceptable. DISPLAY HORRIBLE VIEWING ANGLES. Lots of reflection. No under-the-sun usage possible. Videos can only be viewed at 720p maximum, but it doesn't make such a difference with a screen this size. Again, look away from the bezels! SOFTWARE I bought this notebook on a trip to the US. To be honest, I used it the way it came out of the box for just a week or so. I'll tell you that: Windows, Celerons and Hard Disk drives, don't mix well together. I found myself waiting at least 5 seconds for the browser to open. But at least there wasn't too much bloatware. When I got home, I almost immediately replaced the HD with a 120GB SSD and installed Fedora 22. From that point on, the model was A LOT more usable. But Gnome with GDM was still kind of heavy for it. LightDM helped a little. I installed Arch Linux with XFCE and now it's really zappy. But I guess Xubuntu would also work fine. The keyboard volume and brightness keys, etc work fine. I had no problems with the wireless card to work on Linux. CONCLUSION This laptop is cheap for a reason. It has a great design and only Lenovo can make a keyboard feel cheap and comfortable at the same time (I used to have a Thinkpad). Everything works how it's supposed to, but with their own limitations. I really just bought this laptop to put in a backpack and not worry too much about it. It does the job really well, but I wouldn't recommend it to be a main PC, even if connecting to a monitor. The Celeron is really a drawback and not able to perform well with heavy or multi processing at all. The model would really have benefited from a Pentium instead, but that would have made the price go up at least a hundred bucks. If you want to use Windows, buying an SSD or SSHD is practically mandatory. This laptop should only be bought for the purpose of mobility and nothing else. If you don't fit in this category, PLEASE do yourself a favor and buy a desktop.

Nice entry level laptop but severely underpowered
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop on sale for under $300 so my expectations were not particularly high. I have a very high powered desktop and all I was looking for was a laptop I could browse the internet with and perform basic productivity tasks. The dual core Celeron processor is fine for MS Office work and non-multimedia web consumption but falls flat when working with multiple tabs in Google Chrome. By multiple - I mean 2... Although I'm not a huge fan of Asus, but performance is considerably better on their sub $200 Transformer Book.was better than the Flex 3. I loved the Flex 3's aesthetics and appreciate that Lenovo was able to put together a serviceable 2 in 1 with adequate storage and 4 GB of RAM for around $300. I was really on the fence about returning the Flex but decided to "upgrade" to the base Yoga 2. HUGE difference in performance for about $80 more. This PC is difficult to recommend to anybody except those on the tightest budgets however I would highly recommend the Yoga 2 to anyone looking for a solid performer for under $400.

Great Buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this machine 2 weeks ago. I wanted to use it a bit before writing a review. I am very pleased with my purchase. The purpose of my purchase is to have a machine that can be a companion to my main laptop. I work outside of the office fairly often and I need to be able to access files, email and use video chats. I wanted something light, with a decent battery life. The Lenovo Flex 3 really fits the bill. I almost always have 2-3 tabs open & the Flex battery last about 5-6 hours. The Celeron chip provides sufficient speed for my purpose & this memory configuration is perfect for people who mainly save to the cloud or external drive. I would recommend the Lenovo Flex 3 for anyone who wants a smaller machine that is great for people on the go! I also noticed that Best Buy placed my machine on sale about a week after purchase, so I went back in to the store & they refunded the difference with no questions asked.

Amazing for commuters!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I opened the packaged how small and leight this computer was, what a great advantage for people on the go and commute their computer to school. I love that I can literally fold the screen in half and it's like a tablet. So happy it came with Windows 10 as well. Charges super fast too and couldn't be happier with my purchase. So easy to use and extremely nice sleek look to it. For only $300 this is such a killer deal. I recommend this to anyone who wants a small computer and wants a touchscreen as well.

Great laptop for business travel
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all, I was looking for a smaller laptop that would supplement my Samsung tablet when I travel. While I love my tablet, it does have limitations, especially when faced with extensive typing and filling out expenses for several days. I wasn’t looking for a super fast laptop that would cut my battery life, nor was I looking to watch dvd’s or streaming content. I wasn’t looking to play processor intensive video games. My biggest concern was size. I needed to be able to use it on 3-5 hour commercial flights in coach. Based on my needs, I would give this Lenovo Flex 3 five stars. This model has Celeron with 2.16 clock speed, 11.6” display, and 4 gb ram with 500 gb drive. It doesn’t contain a dvd drive. It can be used as a tablet. And it has a touch screen. I have used the touch screen only a couple of times, and didn’t notice any issues Things I like: Windows 8.1, to match my desktop (will upgrade to 10 when it becomes available to me) Battery life is about 6 hrs, faster charging than my tablet Boot times are less that 15 seconds Easier to connect to various wifi connections than my tablet USB ports (1 3.0 port) Good touch with keyboard Price: $299 on sale Size: I did research online before going in to Best Buy. When I finally went into the store, I immediately realized that the 15.6 display I went in to buy wasn’t going to work. I saw some 13” displays that I thought might work, but even for the specifications I wanted, they were in the $500+. Products such as Chromebooks wouldn’t work, since most of the flights I take don’t have internet access. I needed something that would be used offline a significant amount of the time.. When I flew on American Airlines the next day after my purchase, the size couldn’t have been any larger (American has some of the smallest leg room of the commercial jets. Plus the lady in front of me had her seat reclined before we got off the ground.) On United and US Airways, I believe some of the 13: models would work, But since I fly primarily American, I require the 11.6. So far, the smaller size packs well and weighs less (0.86x 11.8x 8.2, 3.0lbs). One of the smaller 13.3” screens is .84 x 13 x 8.8 but weighs an extra pound (4.0). Most are larger. I’ve used the laptop traveling for the last three weeks. It’s great to have a keyboard again when traveling. Charge times are fast. No issues with connecting to the internet. And today, I watched a movie on American Airlines entertainment channel. There was no flickering or delay. The display (1366x768) is more than adequate for a 11.6” screen. As for multitasking, I had a youtube video running on chrome, a web page open on Explorer, as well as three spreadsheets, and a word document open. There were no issues. I received great assistance at Best Buy. The sales lady understood my needs, and realized that for me the slower processor offered advantages, such as battery life. It was nice to have a salesperson that actually listen to my needs, rather than try to sell the latest, fastest, biggest.

great value for money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was comparing tablet vs convertible, finally ended up with flex 3 for browsing and light usage. I own tablet but not fully satisfied, convertible is more convenient. I bought flex for 299, I already started loving it. Its great value for money.

Excellent 2 in 1 for school and play
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this 2 in 1 primarily for use in the upcoming semester of classes, however after replacing the stock hard drive with a solid state drive and installing the Windows 10 RTM, I have also been enjoying it as a great device for streaming movies from my Plex server and games from my Xbox One using the built in Xbox application for Windows 10. The device is amazingly responsive and remains cool to the touch, while making virtually no noise at all. I would highly recommend this device to anyone looking for a budget device for school, work, or recreational use.

Great, however...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would have really loved this laptop had it not been coming apart. The unit that I purchased was an open-box item and I didn't notice that it was already damaged. The performance, however, was great. Responsive and really good for writing up documents and surfing the internet. I wouldn't do too much on it though since it's only a Celeron. You start to see it get laggy when having more than 4 internet tabs up and streaming something.

Great Computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer isn't the fastest, but it's a great product. It has plenty of storage space and is capable of light gaming. The battery dies really fast- I can only get about five hours of it, but I could easily get 8 out of my Asus T100 Transformer Book. This computer is small, so it's easy to carry amount. I'm a high school senior, so portability is important.
