One of the worst brand LENEVO Never buy products from them. Purchased chrome book 360 degree flip. After 3 months the hook broken out while flipping the chrome book. Called customer support and they said it won’t cover under warranty.

    Best Chromebook I've ever used.

I've had Chromebooks since they first started supporting Android apps, ranging from basic Acer models to more recent ones like the Asus CM34. The Asus is a direct competitor to this Lenovo, and I must say, the Lenovo is a much better experience. There's no weird dynamic contrast on this model, which the Asus exhibits, it feels much slimmer and lighter, and it's less of a fingerprint magnet. In my search for a decent laptop, I also purchased the Asus Zenbook 14X OLED with 16GB of RAM, but that thing is simply overkill for every day use. This Chromebook does everything I need and zips with ease with whatever I ask it to do. CPU and RAM do their job. Performance is very smooth. ALT-TAB, gestures, web page loading, switching tabs, it's all just crisp and fast. Screen is great. It indeed does seem to be around 300 nits of brightness, contrast is good, colors are solid, and 60hz is fine. Forget the usual SRGB nitpicks, this screen is all you need for media consumption and typical tasks. Its touch capability is responsive and this can indeed replace a tablet since it's a 2-in-1. Time will tell if Lenovo's infamous hinge issues begin to develop. The hinges have a nice stiffness, do not creak, and seem properly assembled on my unit. Keyboard feels fantastic. Use ALT + the gear keys to adjust the backlight levels. Feels clicky, responsive, no issues. Hitting ~90 WPM without a hitch almost out of the gate. Will only feel better with more time. Touchpad feels solid as well. I don't think it's glass, but it's silky smooth. Satisfying click. Zero qualms with it. Port selection is great. Love that there's a USB-C port on each side, which the Zenbook annoyed me with since it had both on the same side. Micro SD slot is a little iffy. I wish the card didn't stick out at all, since this laptop will live in a backpack and move around. 128GB of built-in storage is adequate enough, I suppose. Physical side buttons for power and volume are a nice touch. Speakers get decently loud and I'm very happy they're top-firing. Bass is lacking, but I'd rate overall clarity and dynamic range about a 6.4/10. This is coming from someone who runs Focal Performance car speakers for their front stage and Monolith home speakers, so take that as you will. Battery life seems accurate, maybe ~7-8 hours with BT enabled, reasonable screen brightness/KB backlight settings, and light CPU load. No comment on stylus support. I prefer something like a Samsung Tab S8 for that, since you definitely need higher refresh rates for smooth inking. 8.7/10, easily one of the best laptops of the year. It does nothing outright wrong and it has no glaring flaws. Maybe battery life could be better? I chalk that up to the Intel CPU. Otherwise, this laptop checks just about every box you can think of. Once the usual open-box deals start to trickle in, this Chromebook Plus will be VERY hard to beat for the money and trounce comparable Windows laptops in the ~$400 price bracket.

I'm very happy with this Chromebook after trying a similarly priced option and really disliking that one. This Lenovo looks and feels quality, has a great screen, acceptable battery life, and the display is very nice. I'm working on multiple screens with many tabs and Spotify playing in the background and the speed and flow is pretty much uninterrupted. Very happy!

I have several desktops I've built and several laptops, so no stranger to computing technology. Discovered Chromebooks and loved the idea. Bought my first one over 10 years ago, loved the ease of use, the safety and especially the price, and have gone through several over the years. I keep one next to the couch for quick lookup of information, cruising the 'net, watching a few videos, and checking work and personal email. I was intrigued about the new Chromebook Plus when they first came out due to all the upgraded specs. Decided on this Lenovo model over others since it has the touchscreen, the 2-in-1 design, and more recent processor. Bought this one with Best Buy's Black Friday sale so got it even cheaper. This has been the BEST of the bunch. The I3-1315U processor, released in January of this year, makes it scream with speed...MUCH faster than my previous Chromebooks. With 8GB of memory haven't been able to bog it down yet. The 128GB storage is more than enough for my needs since I keep everything in the cloud, may not need to use the microSD. Great display...clear, bright. Number of USB connections is OK. Battery life is OK...I'm typically getting about 8 hours. Good keyboard, appreciate the back lighting of the keys. Touch pad tends to be a bit touchy (not a pun)...be careful about hitting it while typing. All in all this is the best Chromebook yet that I've purchased or used. As long as one understands what a Chromebook is and what it does and its use case, I strongly recommend this model.

...and I do. The keyboard is quiet, the track pad works great--far better than a 7 year old HP Spectre 2 in 1 that it will replace. The screen is bright enough for my indoor use and HD sharp. I also like the 16:10 display ratio. The touch screen is also very responsive. Everything works quickly and web browsing is snappy, but it is new and uncluttered. Only time will tell how it fares with use. I had to replace the old HP because the battery died and it cannot be updated to Windows 11. So far, it looks like I can edit WORD doc.x documents via Google DOCS (within some limits). I had occasional glitches with the virtual and physical keyboards freezing, but that seems better recently. I don’t play any action video games, but I noticed the fan runs much of the time while running a simple game like Sudoku!?! With word processing the fan runs intermittently on low speed. I think Intel Core i3’s run hot so that may be the reason. I expected a learning curve transitioning from a Windows PC, but due to the simplified keyboard on a chromebook, there are a lot of new keyboard shortcuts to learn to make up for fewer keys. I like a 5 button wireless mouse, but was unable to customize all the buttons even after enabling developer options. Maybe a new mouse designed for Chrome OS would be fine. The dimmable lighted keys are a nice feature that require a simple keyboard shortcut to adjust. The speakers in this chromebook sound decent but don’t play very loud. However, they are fine for a quiet environment. This chromebook is heavier than many, but I don’t carry it for extended periods. The case is bulkier than many modern offerings, but I still think it is attractive. The bottom also looks simple to remove in case of future servicing. If I can adjust to Chrome OS, tune out the fan noise, and learn enough keyboard shortcuts, it may be a keeper.

With a beautiful 14” screen, backlit keyboard, fast i3 processor, 8gb RAM and 128gb storage, this Chromebook is more than enough for my use. Open as many tabs as you like. Will take with on trips, lessen the worry if lost, damaged or stolen, compare my MacBook. Battery life is good, not great, but that’s expected with the powerful I3 processor. But what a beautiful screen. I definitely recommend it!

Was looking for a less expensive laptop for internet browsing and note taking in informal meetings. I bought a chromebook back in the early 2010s, and I wasn’t blown away. Decided to take a chance in 2024 based on some positive feedback from others. I am extremely impressed! The laptop is quick and responsive, and integrations have come a long way. You still have the android store for general apps, and the native google apps which work well with the chromebook, but now there’s the possibility of installing apps that function like desktop apps through linux, which is also natively supported. Setting up the VM is incredibly easy, basically done with a few clicks. Now, I have VScode and an in-built linux vm to play with. The device i thought I’d just use for web browsing, I can now do mostly everything I need to on (short of gaming). Additionally, the battery life is great (when not running several apps or your linux VM), and the interface is very responsive. The touch screen and the way it can convert into a tablet is also really convenient. Overall, great purchase for the price!

This was the third chromebook I purchased during the past 10 years. I was not impressed with the previous two chromebooks and so I gifted them away to friends. However, this Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5i is a keeper. I use it mostly for browsing the internet and email. The performance of this machine, including quality of the screen, keyboard, battery life is astonishing. At the price range of up to $700 (I paid $328 including sales taxes), this is the absolutely best computer I ever experienced. The Chromebook plus redesign by Google made a huge difference. The performance rivals much more expensive Windows 11 machines. From now on, I will follow the Chromebook market closely. One improvement which Google should implement in the future is a user adjustable charging level of the battery of up to 70% for users who use this notebook as a desktop constantly plugged into a power outlet. That would significantly extend the life span of the battery.

I have been using this chrome book for about a week and I can safely say it's the best Chromebook I've ever used. The battery life is fantastic, the screen is solid, and the speed is also very good. I have not run into any problems so far. The only thing that I would say it was a negative would be the weight. It's a bit heavy but nothing too bad.

I love this Chromebook Plus. I have two, one at work which I bought last winter and I just got one for home this weekend. The 16:10 aspect ratio is fantastic. The screen is bright and a pleasure to use for work and media consumption. Very well built, solid chassis. The keyboard is top notch as Lenovo is famous for. Nicely backlit. The upward firing speakers are amazing as well. The Intel i3 13th gen is fast and there is never any fan noise. I highly recommend this device.

It's better than some Chromebooks and even laptops that cost higher the amount. - Bright stunning screen - Speedy with no lag using multiple apps - Great trackpad and backlit keyboard - Awesome port selection - Great battery life to last you all day Only con is it's a little on the heavy side. The computer itself is really nice. I like the screen and the keyboard feels nice. Haven't had any performance issues either. The trackpad is kind of wonky and the speakers aren't very loud. However, the worst part of this computer is that it thinks i'm in tablet mode almost every time that i open it and there is no clear way to tell it to use desktop mode unless you plug in a mouse. The hinge is also already starting to get wobbly. This computer is supposed to get updates until 2029 or something but i don't know if the outsides will make it. The aluminum lid feels really premium too.

Is there no way to set default brightness to max?

    |
    |
Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The only real negative: Every time the Chromebook is shut down it resets the display brightness level down to only about 70% brightness on battery power. And this is problematic because the screen is only 300 nits. 300 nits is pretty decent. 70% of 300 nits not so much. Anyway…. I can’t find any setting to change this behavior. A google search result from 2021 gave me hope that I could fix things by using some hidden “chrome flags” settings. But those specific flag settings apparently no longer exist. And a search result from 2022 indicates this is intentional behavior from Google. I could be wrong, but I suspect all other current chromebooks being sold also do this??? Anyway…. I know lower brightness will increase battery run time, but it’s kind of lame that Google thinks they know what’s best for me. It’s not a safety issue like seat belts in cars. Give me the choice to set max brightness as a default! For what it’s worth, I don’t think the computer has any kind of ambient light sensor. At least not one that increases or decreases brightness automatically. I tested it by using the laptop in the bathroom. **But not on the toilet! ;-) ** The bathroom allowed me to test the display in complete darkness and also under very high brightness. Not a once did I notice the display screen brightness go up or down. On the plus side, the screen does apparently default to a higher level of brightness when plugged in to power. Not 100% max. But maybe 85% or 90%. Positives: I was pleased to discover that charging can be done by plugging into either the left side or right side USB-C port. Prior to buying it I thought it only did the left since that’s where the charging icon was located. But it charges on both like most laptops do these days. Sound is decent enough. Keyboard feels good enough and I like the backlight. Mousepad I have no complaints. Bluetooth mouse pairs and works good. And I was pleased to see the printer settings carried over from a previous chromebook. (Chromebooks have always been a pain to set up printers ever since Cloud Print was shut down. But maybe Chromebooks are getting better here?) Personally, I like the looks of this Lenovo. The cover when shut has a two-tone gray color that varies slightly how it looks depending a bit on the angle it’s viewed from. I like that the Lenovo label is on the right side of the keyboard part rather than centered near the bottom of the screen. Build quality is fine. It’s a nice plastic. (Maybe decorative aluminum cover? Not sure). Feels fairly solid. And I liked the look of this over the similarly priced HP Chromebook that was also on sale. Though that one looks nice, too. I also choose this over the Asus CM3401FF Chromebook Plus that is also at Best Buy. (I actually ordered that one initially before cancelling.) Anyway… The Asus has a nice screen, too. But the Asus shape overall is maybe a little boxier and heavier than this Lenovo. This Lenovo has an i3-1315U intel processor. It’s very fast for a chromebook. Additionally, it is apparently quite a bit faster than the AMD Ryzen processor found in the Asus chromebook I almost bought. I was looking at the website nanoreview to compare processors. They didn’t specifically have the Asus chromebook’s Ryzen 7320C, but they did have the 7230U which from what I’ve read is basically the non-chromebook version of the 7320C. Is that true? I don’t know for sure, but I read they were about the same somewhere. Long story short. If the 7320C and 7320U are indeed essentially the same, then that means the i3-1315 in the Lenovo is faster than the 7320C in the Asus I also liked. Finally, this is not my first time with a chromebook. It’s actually my mom’s. I got her going with chromebooks because they’re supposedly a lot harder to get viruses on. And they basically update instantly with no long wait for updates like Windows does, which is a good fit for my mom’s use case. She basically wanted something that she wouldn’t use for normal web everyday browsing. She needed something that was reserved only for occasional stuff like banking. Probably not a bad idea. My parents have managed to get viruses on Windows computers. (Not the fake popups that say you have viruses when you really don’t, but real viruses some of which were a major pain to remove.) Anyway… the previous Chromebook I set her up with was a Samsung Chromebook Plus. I paid too much ($500) and got “scroogled” because Google only supported that model for 5 years of security updates. Unlike some other older chromebooks, Google did not extend it’s AUE date. So it’s expired now even though it is otherwise still functional. At least this Lenovo is set to get security updates until June 2032 according to the “about” settings on the Lenovo I bought. So despite my criticism of my inability to find a way to default to max brightness, I do recommend this computer. On sale at $379 it is within an acceptable price range, IMO. I won’t ever spend $500 on a Chromebook again. I wish it were $300, to be honest. I could’ve spent less, and maybe should’ve spent less and purchased the Asus, instead, which was $300 when I made my purchase, but this Lenovo chromebook is nice enough I’m OK with paying slightly more. Finally, the description on Best Buy’s website says this is 2K. I’m guessing they mean 2K display? If so, they’re wrong. It is closer to 1080p, but still very detailed.

This is my first Chromebook and I'm pretty happy. I paid around $330 before tax and for around the $300 price point you can't go wrong. The Chromebook is snappy, the screen is crisp and the battery life is above average. It gets me through a day but I would like to see a bit better life on this Chromebook but for $330 I am pretty happy.

Great Chromebook. Good sturdy body, solid hinges. Battery life is decent if not exceptional. Sound quality is quite good although max volume is limited. Would like more screen brightness but it's good enough for indoor work. And it works great with my iPlume USI stylus. This is my second i3-based Chromebook, and the performance is very good. With 8 GB of RAM it never slows down. I am a fan of 12-13 inch laptops as a sweet spot, and I wish this one was a bit smaller and lighter. But overall I am very happy with it.

Honestly love this Chromebook! I use it for work, for grad school, and for personal use. I have a pixel phone, but I've also been using gmail, google drive, etc. for many many years, so all-in-all everything has been very compatible from files and folders to photos, messages, and more. I've also been able to use it for digital art, and it's been doing phenomenal in that regard as well, especially having such a large screen. It has the sophistication, size, and overall feel of a standard laptop, but retains the ease and efficiency of a Chromebook (albeit a touch heavier than most Chromebooks). It's simple without having to make sacrifices. Professional without any perplexities. 10/10 would buy again.
