Great for a student!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this computer mainly for my school work, and for my own recreation. All together I paid $327 for the whole thing. The processor is great! The screen resolution/size is great! The speakers are ok, but I am not using this for that purpose. It was a great investment on my part and I would definitely recommend.

Do not buy this laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop was extremely slow, I mean worse than my 15 year old desktop computer, even right out of the box it was awful. I bought an HP laptop with 4 gb. of memory and a slower processor and it was WAY better than this one!

I was expecting something better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read the reviews and thought this would be the best computer for getting more bang for my buck. Well, sadly I was very disappointed with this machine. First off it feels so cheap - all plastic. The computer was easy to set up. Afterwards it went downhill. The machine was continuously warmer than normal and the mouse skipped around which made completing tasks difficult and frustrating. What really unsold me was the short battery life. I got 15 - 30 minutes of battery time, at best. So, I returned the laptop for a full refund.

Linux use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased so I could put Linux (mint 17.3) on the system. I was able to install by using the first partition (the one with the boot flag) for the boot loader during the install. The system worked fine on Linux but there was no driver for the WiFi. The card is an Atheros and has been problematic in the past, and hit and miss on drivers. It is an NGFF slot M.2 card so you can't take a card from an older laptop and plug it in. Seemed to be snappey on Linux but a bit sluggish on Windows 10. Can not recommend because of issue with WiFi driver for my preferred operating system.

Great Bang for your buck!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For being on the cheaper side it works great! Just need it for mainly internet stuff and a few documents. Did watch a live WWE event and was very impressed with the resolution. Little to no buffering while watching it.

Nothing but frustration
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this laptop as a gift from Best Buy and it has been nothing but trouble. Came preloaded with viruses, screen keeps freezing and displaying horizontal lines, tried to do a reset and now the Lenovo screen just keeps flashing. Not to mention McAfee is saying it removed 65 viruses since January but we've had this laptop for less than a week (It's March). Utterly disgusted that Lenovo would would sell such a product and that this would be sold as such though it's more than obvious it's been used

All show, no go.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this computer after doing a lot of research. It had a configuration that promised great value, it had a lot of good reviews, it was easy to upgrade, and when Best Buy put it on One Day Sale, it was irresistible. Unfortunately, I guess I should have listened to my inner dislike of Lenovo and resisted. The keyboard randomly refuses to type letters. The edges of the screen are sharp in places, and the textured finish shows fingerprints vividly. The documentation is poor, and customer service is non-existent. The power jack demands that the plug be inserted very hard or the battery won't charge. On top of these little annoyances, the wi-fi card is only one channel, and, though it promises 802.11n performance, it barely matches the speed of my 6-year old g-class laptop, and is just half the speed of a year-old Acer chromebook with a CPU only a fraction as powerful as the Lenovo's A8. Is it a computer? Yes, and it runs programs adequately as long as you are very careful with your typing. But it is slow, inconvenient, poorly supported, and - like all Lenovo products I know - cheaply made and finished. This weekend I went out and bought an Acer Aspire, and I am looking forward to trying it out.

9 hours in and I'm done
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't need much. I need to run an MMO, but don't need a gaming box. I need a cam and mic, and the ability to plug in a headset, and halfway decent speakers. Well, I got the computer at noon and played with it a bit on my breaks from work (I work at home so I had it the moment it arrived). I get off work at 8:40 pm and by 9:30 I'm ready to throw this piece across the room. 1. The speakers sound like my ears are plugged. All echoey and muffled 2. Using a voice chat program I sound garbled and unintelligible 3. The headset jack is a single plug like that you would use for a wired headset for your phone. I have a 2 pronged jack. This is more of a minor irritation that I need to buy a new headset, but managable. 4. While trying to fix the mic settings the computer randomly disconnected from wifi and then froze completely. No mouse controls with touchpad or wireless, no ctrl+alt+del, all the while it's making a grinding noise. I work a long shift tomorrow, but the next day this thing is going back to the pit from wence it came.

Jumping Cursor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn't expect bells and whistles buying a $300 laptop, but I did expect it to perform basic functions. This laptop did not. The cursor jumped all over the page, constantly interfering with my typing. I spoke with a Lenovo representative 2 days after purchasing it and they basically said to turn off the touchpad and just use the wireless mouse. A few days later, I called Lenovo again because the issue would not abate, using the wireless mouse or using the touchpad and that representative basically said, oh well, sorry, return the item to Best Buy! He didn't even want to help me solve the problem. I returned the item to Best Buy today. That's the first and last time I'll ever buy a Lenovo!

Great for homework.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like the computer. It does everything I need it to do for my school work. The only thing I did was put goggle chrome on there. It works alot better for my needs.
