The screen flickered would not stop returned Best Buy was great.

The specs on this are hard to beat for the price point, especially if it's on sale. Setup was easy. Geared toward the less technically savvy. I can't speak to the performance because I didn't get the chance to push it. As another reviewer pointed out, the build quality is cheap. This is not the precision design of an Apple. The keyboard on mine flexed noticeably. The reason I returned mine was because it wouldn't reliably charge the battery. Sometimes the battery would charge as soon as I connected the power cord. Other times it wouldn't charge for 20-40 minutes. Once, I plugged it in to charge over night only to find it stopped charging. Bottom line, it's a gamble worth taking if you don't mind the hassle of dealing with returns. IF you get a machine that works, you're getting a steal, albeit an ugly looking steal. Be aware there is a good chance you'll get one that needs to be returned so I would only suggest buying this when it's on sale.

This notebook works fine. I only wish it had a touch screen

I brought this when it was on sale for $299.99. This is a value laptop with the hardware it has compared with other brands at that price around that time. I want to point out that: 1. The Windows 10 version is a 64-bit. 2. There is no Hard Drive LED. It has only two LEDs: a Power LED and a Battery LED. 3. The mouse pad surface is not 100% smooth. 4. The laptop does not come with any recovery disks. The laptop's 1TB hard drive has a hidden partition with the recovery software that you can use to backup to an external hard drive. However I am still trying to figure out how to create an external recovery dvd(s) on this model. 5. This laptop comes with the latest 802.11ac wi fi. Most other laptops and modem routers still use 802.11n. I think the build quality is slightly below other popular brands, but when the price is low enough compared to other brands with the same hardware, it becomes a value laptop.

This computer is perfect for what I need to use it for.

I was a little nervous getting this after reading the reviews. There were only three all with low scores. My son who works in IT said the specs were great for the price. I'm a writer and I depend on my computer. I wasn't crazy with the keyboard. I guess I will have to get used to it. So far I am enjoying the speed.

Errors and warnings right after powering on, returned

I've had any laptops from best by and this one has given me more problems in the last 3 1/2 months than the one I've been for almost 3 years. I only use if for school!

Found bad reviews on this laptop, but this is working good and its pretty fast. This is good value laptop for this solid price.Go for it if are looking for good laptop from lenovo with low price.

After reading all the Pros and Cons reviews I could find about this computer I purchased it as a replacement for my i7 Toshiba laptop that died. I will never purchase another Toshiba again which by the way cost over 5 times what this computer cost. I decided to purchase this computer because it gives you the most bang for your Buck! I purchased it the night before last online, went down to my local BestBuy yesterday morning and picked it up. Got it home took it out of the box and was surprised at how well it seems to be built. After plugging it in configuring was pretty simple. Just following the onscreen instructions then going to updates and updating Windows 10 to the latest edition I have used it extensively the past day with no issues. At least none of the ones found in the reviews. Battery charged to 100% and lasted over 5 hours. This computer has so many features and is amazingly fast for an AMD processor. It connects to the internet fast and has handled everything I have thrown at it thus far. I don't write reviews but this time I'm making an exception incase there are others in the same situation who are looking for a computer, whether it's for yourself or as a gift and want the most for their money. At $ 299 you won't find another computer with all of these features and one that operates as well as this one. I think those that purchase this computer will be Happy with what they get as well as the money they will be saving. Performance not an issue here. Great product!

I'm guess most of the people who left negative reviews either don't know anything about computers or just like trashing stuff. For the price - I paid $300 - this has a quad-core processor akin to I5 and 8 gis of memory. Computer's fine for even more advanced work. I did remove some bloatware, but it's light-weight, large enough to replace a desktop, has a tone of storage and does more than a $1,000 laptop from two years ago would do. I suggested my daughter buy one.

I did not understand why the sound does not work in notebook. I uninstalled and installed again the driver but could not make it work

keyboard and touch pad are defective, BB won't fix

Do not buy this laptop. The power adapter blew and the plug on the side for the power adapter is cheap and broke. Had to send it back for repair. Luckily before the warrantee ran out. Also feels cheap. Typing on it feels like a child's toy.

Overall the laptop performed exceptionally, even with games that would require high amounts of processesing power. The amount of ram is sufficient for any general or moderatly powered applications even with the graphics processor taking 1.2gb of ram away due to it being incorporated. If you wanted to, you could add another chip of RAM to the laptop because only 1 slot is used with an 8gb ddr3 chip. But that is your call. However the only issue hardware wise was the hard drive- even though it is an hybrid disk drive, it is SLOW. the solution is giving it either a 7200rpm hybrid disk drive or get a solid state drive and use the original as a backup. I put the solid state drive in the laptop and re installed windows and it was fantastic the system ran faster than before. Now the issue with software, i personally love using windows but they messed up when they added all of the useless programs to this laptop. Pre installed programs were conflicting with eachother and actually making it a hectic envoirment. The solution? Re install windows and only put on what you need.

This is my first Lenovo. Just bought it today (11/28/15) because of the price and options. Don't know what kind of expectations the other folks have for this computer. But, or why they are having problems. I have had nothing but a good experience with the computer since I pulled it out of the box. It took a few minutes to get booted up the first time. But after that no problem. I will agree I'm a little disappointed that it didn't have a lot of software already preloaded. Otherwise I'm enjoying the computer.

Lenovo - G51 15.6 Laptop - AMD A8-Series - 8GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive is a unique piece of hardware that require changes of setting to maximum the performance. I recommended that you go System Configuration>Boot>advance options>check the Number of processors to 4. Go to Task Manger and disable all the unnecessary software from start up. And finally turn off the Advance System setting> Performance> check the adjust for best performance. My overall review for this laptop, it has a lot of extra add-on including Bluetooth, 8GB of RAMs, larger keyboard, very smooth touch pad, a bit larger screen for 15.4in. The processor AMD has made strives to significantly boost the performance of the on-board Radeon graphics while adding support for DirectX 12. The processor performance depends on the configured TDP of the SoC. Set to 25 Watt, the CPU should be slightly faster than the old A8-6410 and therefore similar performance to a Haswell-based Pentium or ULV Core i3. The only down side is the RAMs usage because the hardware require that you reserved 1.1 GB to hardware and I DO NOT recommended that you change the setting because it will crash the the computer, however this will leave you with 7 GB of RAM but still faster with a 3.5 GB left over for low-end gaming and other application software.

First off the price is awesome. I had no problem at all setting up the computer it was fast and efficient. It connected to the wifi like any other laptop I've used. I download Adobe Acrobat reader easy with no issues. It doesn't freeze and it isn't slow. I'm beyond happy with it and would recommend anyone to purchase it.

Boot time is excellent. Web surfing is smooth. Handles basic gaming, and some other Steam games. Handles software such as Word well. Look and feel definitely not cheap. Same as the review before me, I don't know how someone could be upset with the machine for the price paid. I'm completely satisfied.

Read the specs. You can't get a laptop with 8 megs of RAM and 2.2 gig speed for this price. Awesome!
