Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the ideacentre 300S's price, ease of use, performance, and compact size, finding it suitable for basic computing tasks. However, customers are negative about the motherboard, RAM, and hard drive reliability, with some experiencing failures shortly after purchase. The small form factor is a plus for many, but some users felt the included RAM and storage were insufficient. Issues with the cooling fan were also reported by a few users.

    Decent computer

The computer will start up quickly, but it takes a while for programs to open up. When I check the CPU usage, it shows that it is using 80-85%. The 4gb ram is not enough.

    Failure after owning 6 months

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

After buying this product new, 6 months later it stopped booting up. Hard drive was fine, so after reading other reviews on the Internet, it seems the motherboard has a failure. I tried to submit a service request online with Lenovo, and never hear back from a technician. Called them via phone and after spending several minutes on the phone while the technician tried to find a part number, I was able to get a part number. I was going to buy a new motherboard, since the repair policy is that a technician would come to my home to install the new motherboard. I didn't feel comfortable with a stranger coming to my home, so I asked them if they could just ship me a new motherboard, but they were not willing to. I am going to have to just toss this item, total waste of money for me. Currently using my two HP computers that don't have this problem.

    Great disappointment

I purchased this same model computer earlier this year (2016) and after 2 months it had to be replaced. This is the replacement and I am very unhappy with the performance, especially the speed. I had my internet service checked and upgraded my router and used the Lenovo system updates but this computer is still very slow, perhaps slower than my Commodore 64. I have 2 other Lenovo laptops and one other desktop (Think center) working great. This one unit should be pulled off the market and given to retirement centers. This is the most underperforming computer I have had. I received it 7/1/2016 and will call about returning it. I can not recommend to anyone. I use for just basic email and internet surfing and light word processing. If anyone has an idea on how to improve the performance please let me know.

    Horrible Do Not Purchase

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

As all others have stated, I purchased two Lenovo computers in April, and in August, both computers failed within two weeks of each other. I had purchased them for my business and now have no way of ringing up my customers. Lenovo is telling me it is going to take weeks for them to resolve the issue. It is an issue they must be aware of, as it is the same as everyone else reports, fan error message and then bam, computers done. Do not waste your money, I wish I had read these reviews before I made my purchase. I am also disappointed that best buy would sell units with such proven poor track records. I will no longer be shopping with best buy.

This computer is waste of money!!! Do not buy it. Beside working very slow due to windows 10, I had so many problems with rebooting and CPU Fan failure. I wish I had paid more attention to reviews before buying it. I purchased this in May 2016 for work emails and just for few dox nothing so major, and have not been able to use it since then. Errors every week!! This morning I was on the phone with BestBuy for about 40min and NO HELP. They ask to me to contact Lenovo!! I didn't buy this from Lenovo , why do you want me to call Lenovo... Best Buy!!! I ONLY ASKED FOR STORE CREDIT SO I CAN BUY SOMETHING BETTER BUT THE ANSWER WAS A BIG NO!! VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS WHOLE EXPERIENCE.

Purchased this small form factor desktop today to bridge the time for my business until my laptop gets returned from repair. Love the small box, bluetooth, hdmi output, wifi, dvd drive...it's a pretty good deal on paper despite the sluggish and underpowered processor. After configuring and installing basic printer, webcam, and browser software, it crashed 3 times in a loop, then windows 10 would not load and it is pretty much dead. I am returning this tomorrow.

Horrible computer. ran extremely slow while it still worked, which was only 3 months. Finally it would not even turn on. Customer service dropped the ball on repairing it saying (after 2 weeks) they did not know when parts would come in. Finally after no computer for 3 weeks a case manager promise a new one after getting my visa number to ensure I would ship the old one back. A month later still no computer.

    Do not buy this computer

The one time I don't read all the reviews before buying! This computer is junk! I was swayed by the cheap price. Was buying for my 83 year old mom and figured she didn't need anything fancy. She doesn't but she does need something that lasts longer then 7 months! I mean come on, shes 83 if she can make it another year her computer should be able to! She called me the other night saying it wouldn't turn on so I went over and first thing I check the power cord. The things got a brick powercord like a laptop with a weird connector on it so I couldn't just replace with another. So I jiggle it and it comes on. I tell her go ahead and use it and I'll order one just in case. It of course went out again the next day so I run the new cord over as soon as I got it and plug it up and.... nothing. Pretty sure at this point it's the motherboard. So easiest thing was to pop the hard drive and toss it in a box I had at home. Lenovo...... never again.

I was really excited about these computers. I bought two of them to use for my business. Great price and decent brand. Boy howdy was I wrong. Both computers stopped working within a month of each other. Same CPU fan error message that others have reported. Same terrible, awful, shameful customer service that others have reported. It appears to me that Lenovo could care less about it's customers and making right their wrongs. Like others, I'm still waiting on a resolution from Lenovo. Do not buy this computer and I wouldn't argue is someone said don't buy another Lenovo product. Why? Lenovo doesn't care about you.

Didn't need this little guy to do much, just surf the web and print a few documents. It didn't last four months and Lenovo support was no help. I have to constantly fight it to turn on and always get a CPU fan error when it does boot. If I can get it to turn on I have to constantly watch out that it doesn't go to sleep cause it will not turn back on. Contacted Lenovo and they said they where going to send a technician to repair or inspect the computer but never heard a word back from them.

Total garbage from the worst company I've ever done business with. After trying for 5 months to cure numerous problems via phone, Lenovo instructed me to return it for warranty work but I had to pay shipping. Six weeks, five phone calls and 3 email exchanges later, Lenovo still has my money and my PC. I've filed a complaint with the North Carolina consumer division in an attempt to somehow resolve this problem, but I'm not hopeful. Before you look at Lenovo PC's think: "Danger Will Robinson. Danger. Danger!,"

We purchased our first Lenovo computer in June , but exchanged it after a week because it was soooo slow. The second computer was just as slow so we blamed the internet connection. It crashed after 90 days. Fortunately the manager at Best Buy gave us store credit toward another brand. Definitely worth putting a little extra money into a better computer.
