Great Laptop!

I uninstalled McAfee and the Trend Micro anti-virus offered for free with the purchase of the laptop. I installed Bitdefender and now it runs as fast as my work laptop! Some anti-virus software gets locked up with Windows and I think that is why so many people have had trouble with performance. I got this for $130 pre-Black Friday and could not be more pleased!

Setup with Cortana took less than 15mins and it runs as smooth as butter. My computer geek boyfriend installed a few things for me like CC Cleaner, Opera, Chrome, etc. We disabled S mode to be able to do this which wasn’t a hassle at all. I will be using this computer for remote learning during COVID-19 and my upcoming online college classes. I work with Google Docs, Slides, Drive, etc. so the storage capacity (64GB) is not an issue for me but it may be for some. This laptop has a beautiful design and is VERY lightweight. Very attracting and simple. I will recommend this affordable laptop to anyone during this time or even when this pandemic passes. I look forward to using this for a year or two.

We've only had it for a month and he has used it only for about 2 weeks but as far as that stands it works well, features are easy, and it replaced the Chromebook he had last year without much complaint.

This computer can continue running at its best by keeping the Windows 10 Operating System and all supporting BIOS files and drivers up to date. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Good for basic stuff

It is good for basic stuff and even streaming video. This was a replacement for the one I bought in December because the WiFi card stopped working. They gave me a replacement without hassle. This is the 4th one I bought for kids, and all the others work well.

Cool laptop for work or school

The battery life is short but what more can you expect from a budget computer. If you just want to surf the web get a chromebook if you just need a ok computer for not a lot of money it will serve its purpose.

Posted .The Lenovo IdeaPad 1 14 Laptop, model number 81VS0001US, ships with a 2CELL_35WH_INTERNAL, Lithium Polymer Battery, with a battery life of up to 8 hours, depending on the work the device is performing. If you are getting less than expected battery life, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. A great little surprise

I broke the Windows 10s to 10 Home, ran all the Windows Updates (plan on 8 hours with a fast connection), restarted half a dozen times. Downloaded Chrome as default browser. Half the enjoyment is to see this as a minimalist solution to needing a Windows environment when that is required. No touchscreen, both USB ports are close together on the same side, but it boots fast and Windows 10 seems solid enough now. I'm even finally learning to use it at last since it's more convenient now. Not a battleship laptop, but a nifty kayak for my needs.
