Entry level / Beginner’s laptop 4/5
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you use up the space on the laptop you’ll need an external hard drive on the side for any downloading. For $130 brand new it’s great for a minimalist. Also SD slot I forgot to mention. Not much for bells and whistles and it’s Lenovo so bring your exceptions rock bottom. Great for kids or somebody new to technology. Ease of use is average (dail-up connection slow at times). Close all your tabs and don’t make it do any multitasking. Be patient. If not this is not the laptop for you, you’ll lose your patience walk away and return it. The case was under $40. Entry level laptop better than nothing at all.

It's great for a spare laptop and light to travel!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the price, or less than the cost of a week of groceries, this is a fine laptop. Please keep in mind the following: 1. It's not super fast! 2. If you don't have accounts with Office 365, you'll need to purchase one and 12 months isn't included in the download, just a one-month free trial. I have my own account, so this isn't an issue for me. 3. Don't bloat it with a bunch of Microsoft free games and apps. 4. I have my own Virus protection account with McAffee but if you don't have one already, you'll either use the one that Best Buy offers or get your own. I purchased this laptop so I can travel with it and my files are stored in the cloud with "Carbonite." Again, I have complete access to everything because of this convenience. It's light as a feather and I can bring it on an airplane without lugging around my Lenovo Ideapad Y700 that is a monster of a system. To check email and browse the Internet including Microsoft apps like Power Point, Word, Excel, etc... it's a must buy! I hope my review helps. I got it today for $129.00 plus 6% sales tax so my total purchase was $137.00 or so. I'm happy enough. M.

Needs debloating to stand a chance.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to like it. 4GB of RAM and 64GB emmc storage is the bare minimum a person should ever accept for a Windows laptop. Understand that Windows and updates will occupy a large part of the storage. And 4GB was fine with Windows 7, windows 10 and bloatware really make it struggle. I knew this taking a chance on this. Usually you can beef up the RAM or add a faster/bigger m.2 drive. This barebones laptop offers no upgrade path. Worse, the RAM is slow as is the storage. I would say people who don't have issue with this laptop have very minimal use for a computer. Sure ... you can turn it on and (slowly) check email. Or barebones web use. Maybe type a paper. But anything else will have you yanking hair out. First off... you HAVE to run a debloat script to stand half a chance. There are a few that will turn off all the garbage. Otherwise, if you look at task manager you'll see 100% CPU use nearly constantly. A healthy windows computer should maybe be at 17% at most when idle, preferably around 4%. Disable bloat and it becomes a little more responsive but still will bog quickly opening and using apps. Worst of all... my internet speed is over 200Mb/sec. This laptop in any instance was unable to achieve above 80Mb/sec. Usually it lanquished down around 15 to 20Mb. I've never seen such rotten internet performance. This was the same out of box and debloated. I can only conclude its CPU and RAM are so poor it simply can't process faster internet. I would never recommend this laptop even for a child who has few internet needs. It simply doesn't function like a proper 2020 device. Games or graphic anything ...absolutely forget it. Debloated it can barely function, but you may as well use an old laptop from 2002 or something, and actually one of those running windows 7 would be MUCH faster than this. Even for $100 ... you're better putting that toward a better device.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 1-14 laptop ships with a free 1-year subscription to Microsoft Office 365 (a $69.00 value). This model ships with a 300p webcam and microphone built in. The Lenovo IdeaPad 1-14 Laptop, model number 81VS0001US, ships with 5G, 802.11AC frequency WiFi which is up to 3X faster than standard 802.11N WiFi. If you are experiencing slower than expected performance, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686.

Realistic Expectations In Tow
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let's start this off fair.. I got this windows 10 laptop for under $140 on black Friday weekend price. Normally $100 + . Granted , yes, this is no powerhouse laptop... But I have been a firm Chromebook user since about 2016 for my laptop needs. I wont go into power computing needs.. But for even the $200 range, removing bloatware and S Mode, this little guy has enough kick to get the job done vs my Chromebook. I primarily just so some social and research on my laptops, and when I need to do some light photo editing. I was running a virtual Photoshop cs2 on my Chromebook/Linux and it always got the job done, despite some pain and patience. But I figured id give this guy a try for price despite that hate reviews... Glad I did. Im originally a dos/windows old school guy. And breaking from S mode, and throwing the free CS2 (oddly my most known PS experience), It did editing cuts above a CB running it virtual. Granted , this is no powerhouse, but it will get my jobs done. And its snappy for what it is. If you can grab a deal on this guy for 200ish. Go for it!

Will update- pending issue with my product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been meaning to contact Lenovo, but I have had multiple serious health abd other issues come up that have been consuming my time. I have always used Lenovo laptops and I have found them to be very reliable and easy to use. However, this brand new, but open box product was a lot of work to get set up, to find all the necessary updates that hadn't been installed yet, abd I had many issues with losing connection, and freezing screens etc, for the first month or so. Then I was finally up and running, and very pleased with the value and performance of the product. Unfortunately, a couple of months ago, I was using the laptop st my desk, and I walked away, leaving it as it was, and ended up going to bed. The next morning, the screen was ruined, inexplicably. Nothing happened to it, it was in the exact same position as I Left it in, abd novo else was in my house that night. Everything was fine, but the screen LCD was clearly fractured from the inside. It's almost like something short circuited and caused it. There was no "trauma" so to speak. I will gladly update this, if I finally get to contact Lenovo vabd have a resolution or a disappointing response. I have to do something asap, since it's almost a year ago that I purchased this. I hope I get the resolution I'm entitled to, abd fast, since I have been so happy with Lenovo laptops in the past. I don't want to give negative reviews, unless I have to.
