I personally don't own this laptop, but my friends bought two of them last Christmas during this same deal for their kids since they were so cheap. They were so bad that when it came time to e-learn due to Covid, they couldn't even handle Zoom. As soon as the mom swapped out one of the kids with her newer Mac laptop, no problems for that kid but the other still couldn't get on. So it wasn't an issue of Wifi or house hold internet performance. I'm in IT so I took it to see if there was any way of speeding it up. There isn't! No slots to upgrade RAM. No SATA port to upgrade the storage to a true SSD. And the real problem is the ancient low performance processor in this thing. And that's not upgradable either as it's soldered to the MB. This thing is simply garbage. I re-installed Windows for them just so it was all "clean" again and made sure it had all updates, but I hated every second I was working on it. If they still don't use it, I'm going to suggest reloading it with Linux to see if they can get a performance boost there. Linux can typically do more with less hardware. Other than that, stay away from this laptop.

The service at the location was so bad that I almost didn’t make the purchase but I’m glad I waited for someone to finally help me. The laptop doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the higher priced ones, however with it being at such a low price point, it made sense to get. Have had no problems with the laptop since buying it. The battery exceeded expectations on the length of charge.

I purchased this laptop 4 or 5 months ago (on a different account) and I really wish I didn't. Here are all of the problems this laptop has: 1. this laptop is fanless which normally is fine. But this one overheats WHILE WATCHING YOUTUBE and gets somewhat hot on the desktop if it is plugged in. I purchased a cooling pad which did solve the problem, but I recommend Lenovo makes a revision that has fans or better cooling. It is already slow and throttling makes it unusable. 2. This laptop is VERY slow. I understand that it is cheap but there are way better deals out there. takes about 6-8 seconds to OPEN MICRSOFT EDGE. chrome is incredibly slow and I recommend you use edge as it is much better. takes sometimes A WHOLE MINUTE to wake up from sleep mode (lock screen to desktop). 3. This laptop has absolutely ZERO upgradability. At least upgradable RAM would have been nice. and 64gb of storage with windows 10 is not enough. I also played Minecraft on it and it is somewhat playable with optifine, but it also takes ages to load. Would not recommend, the ideapad 3 is only 150$ more and has a i3 and if that's to much then the hp 14" AMD Athlon silver. Positives are that it has a nice design and the keyboard is very good.

Great price at 129 on sale, i bought this for my 5 year old to do IXL maths and learn to search the internet. Not for any multi tasking or video editing, not even for games. Na wao, this thing can not open a chrome web page without stuttering or taking time to think about it, my son was shouting, dad it's not working, I can't pick my answer. It was hanging. Okay, long story short am returning to get the 339 dell with a 250 ssd on sale now too. I know the idea pad is originally from ibm before lenovo bought them a while ago, but even the IXL basic maths, this was tooooooo slow Buyer beware

I bought this laptop today, and I’m returning it tomorrow. Even for this price point, and even though it’s “entry level,” this laptop is way too slow, doesn’t load at all, and crashes often. I’ve been trying to do very basic tasks like literally just check my email or create a Word doc - to no avail. I know you get what you pay for, but this is bad even for the low price.

If you are experiencing software crashing with Microsoft Word on the Lenovo IdeaPad 1-14 laptop, model number 81VS0001US, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

Look it's not the best thing in the world but it's a good starter, when you first get it be patient it'll take some time to warm up and once it does it works perfectly, I've been able to run csgo (runs on anything if we're being honest) but it's decent if you're trying to start digital art

Once again, thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 14 Laptop. You can keep your computer running at its best by keeping the Windows 10 Operating System and all supporting BIOS files and drivers up to date. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If you ever need additional help with your Lenovo computer, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help. Lenovo

I love these laptops. My wife bought two of these so our kids can do their schoolwork from home. At first I didn't like them because they run slow with Windows 10. They come with Windows 10S. It's like Windows 10, but you can only use apps from the Windows Store. This is very limiting, so I turned it off, but the laptop ran very slow when I ran multiple tasks. I dual boot with Ubuntu Linux 19.10 and it runs very fast. I can multitask now.

This is by far the worst laptop I've ever owned. It often refuses to power on the screen when I try to use it. The computer itself will power on but the screen stays dark. The computer constantly freezes when I have more than 2-3 tabs open in a browser. I completely regret this purchase. I wish I could return it. I've been able to use it only a small handful of times since I purchased it this summer. Usually revert back to using an iPad.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo IdeaPad 1-14 laptop. It is possible that a reset of the computer back to original factory setting may correct the problem. This system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the left side of the device, right near the SD card slot on the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Plug the device in. Let the battery charge for about 15 minutes. Push the reset button. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose "Restore To Factory Default". Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. If you don't have copies of the files, try to make one before you restore by selecting "Boot to desktop" and trying to back up your files. Once you have the computer restored, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. I know I shouldn't be expecting great performance from an under $300 laptop but this thing isn't even decent. It's very slow at doing everything. Booting up, opening an app, running an application. You'd be better off investing in a higher price computer with more power. The battery doesn't last either. Even if you have it set on saver mode from a 100 percent charge, it'll last you what feels like less than an hour. All these great reviews just focus on 1 good thing, which is either its easy to use, light weight, or something irrelevant like that. This computer is not worth the price. Stay away.

Bought this for my middle-schooler for the upcoming fall semester, but it is SO slow, laggy, and crashes constantly during Zoom sessions. Even opening up gmail--a very simple operation--takes forever. And I checked if it was my Internet connection, but it wasn't (the online speed tests confirmed that I had a very fast connection). My kid also likes to play Terraria (a game on Steam), which required me to switch from Windows S mode to regular Windows 10. Terraria unfortunately also crashed every 5-10 minutes. So, I'm returning this and would not recommend this laptop at all.

Office Subscription a pain to activate

The laptop included a 12 month subscription to Office 365 personal. I had read the questions and was prepared for the activation. When I went to activate, I ensured windows was installed and was updated. I watched the YouTube video. The video was not what I was seeing when I followed the video. The subscription was for 1 month free. I have called and talked to Lenovo, Microsoft and Best Buy and they continue to tell me to call the others. However, Lenovo offered to help for a fee of $69.95!! I have spent more than 3 hours on the phone or chatting with agents trying to figure this out. This should not be this hard to activate. Include a product key to eliminate the hassle.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your 1-year subscription to Microsoft Office 365. Since the 30-day trial has been activated, this may be blocking the activation of the 1-year subscription. Resetting the computer back to original factory settings, then re-try the activation instructions given in the video (understanding that the version of Windows 10 in the video, is an older version than the updated version you now have on your computer) and the 1-year subscription should activate.
