I had to make an emergency purchase for work. I started the laptop up and it went through the usual updates. It took a couple of hours. The first week it was fine. Got the job done. Then an update happened. I hadn't even used the internet on this laptop at this point. Just Powerpoint for a presentation. After the update, it takes about 45 minutes to get up and running. Again, I haven't even downloaded anything to this to slow it down. Just last night, the battery was dead. So, I charged it and it turned on. It loaded and loaded and then everything finally was up and running. I tried to get on Facebook and it took 20 minutes just to load a 3-minute video... Take my advice, do not purchase this. Complete waste of time. It can't even run the simplest of tasks. It also got extremely hot while it was loading.

You get what you pay for

I needed this as the pandemic pushed us to work at home a few times a week. I needed something was easily accessible and cheap. However, you get what you pay for. I don’t recommend it for 8 hour shifts. It’s best for light work and e-nails. The processor isn’t strong enough and it’s super slow unless you use Microsoft Edge.

Posted .We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your entry-level IdeaPad 1 14 Laptop, model number 81VS009GUS. This model ships with a 64GB eMMC solid state hard drive. Even id you have switched out of S-Mode, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686.

Great bang for the buck for a basic, reliable unit

Way too slow for basic work

Within a few weeks I had to take them right back because they were insanely slow. Both of my kids were frustrated. I was frustrated. It would take minutes for even a simple page to load. I thought because they were just doing online school we didn't need much power but it was the slowest computer I've ever seen. I was online with Geek Squad for 4 hours one day trouble shooting it to make sure there were no viruses, we didn't have extraneous apps, etc. and even then they didn't work. With 6 weeks left of school, we took them both back and got two HPs for around $500. I know it's a get what you paid for situation but I just wasn't expecting even basic computing to be so difficult. Save yourself the heartache and get pay a little more for something way better.
