From the moment I purchased it---brand new---the computer was just...slow. I had no clue slim, stylish laptops were being made so poorly these days. I bought the affordable, lightweight device [solely] so I could write while travelling. Somehow, I convinced myself that I wouldn't need to use it when I was back home and that I could turn wasting $200+ into a demonstration of patience and tolerance. I failed. Just like Lenovo.

Once again, thank you for choosing the entry-level Lenovo IdeaPad 1 14 Laptop. You can keep your computer running at its best by keeping the Windows 10 Operating System and all supporting BIOS files and drivers up to date. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If you ever need additional help with your Lenovo computer, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help. Lenovo

Recommend buying a mouse for this little Lenovo and save some aggravation. Works fine for Zoom meetings but had to switch out of S mode to make that work. Only use it for Facebook and Zoom. Picture quality is meh. I don’t trust it for online purchases or anything confidential like online banking since I had to disable the S mode security.

I purchase this laptop and was very sadden from the trouble I had ! I had change it out once and i had more different problems. 1. the wireless keeps on disconnecting on me! The box is check to reconnect , but that didn't help.. I had connected my other two laptops and had no problems staying connect. Every time I try to connect to Microsoft app it would tell me that was no connection. It seem like it disconnecting my wireless connection. I keep a look on it and notice it was disconnecting on my every 1 mins or less then that. Bestbuy sent me a virus app for 6 months but I wasn't able to install it because it doesn't support S mode , WORTHLESS ! At this point Im not sure what to do.. I try to call the Bestbuy in Brooklyn , Ohio but I can't get a hold of anybody too. I don't have a car so I have to walk 4 miles to return this defective laptop. BestBuy once was a dependable store to buy from. I use to have 100 present trust in them, but since the last 3 years, BestBuy had gone downhill! I'm not sure if its cause my the Stock Holders or management or what , its really sad to see a highly respectable store go downhill Im realy upset becasue know i Have to walk 4 miles one way and 4 miles back to return this, I really like this laptop. I knew it didn't have bill and whistles but at least it could do the basic things.. LIKE STAY CONNECTED ON WIFI ! or be able to surf the web without any issues.. I have nobody I can talk to about this problem and as I said i trying to call but nobody answers the telephone! So if you don't want to go threw the same thing I would just watch for something else that go's on sale .. I know this look like a good deal but remember it comes with problems and an headache. I don't know what to do.. I need a new laptop, but I can't afford the high end computers. Im lucky i can't afford food. I don't know what i should do. Do I exchange it again , or just return its? ugh.. so sad

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo IdeaPad 1 14 Laptop. This model ships with Windows 10 S-Mode Operating System. Windows 10 S-Mode provides added security by only allowing APPs available ( and therefore certified by Microsoft) at the Microsoft Store. If you don't need the added security or you need to install APPs not available at the Microsoft Store, you can switch to standard Windows 10 Home 64-bit Operating System, at no additional cost. Even if you have switched out of S-Mode, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo IdeaPad 1-14 laptop. Windows 10 should not crash. Be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10.
