He is pretty good with technology but struggled to set it up. He brought it to me (I am 40 and a huge tech user) and the thing gave me fits. The main problem was that this laptop is on S Mode. This means that you cannot download anything that you cannot buy in the Microsoft store. This was what kept us from being able to add Google Chrome and his purchased Norton Antivirus from a CD. You have to manually go in to turn that off so you can download anything. The laptop runs way too slow for being brand new. I wanted to return it, but he didn’t want to cause a fuss. Disappointing product!

This IdeaPad 1, is an entry level, light use system with a dual core AMD Athlon Silver processor, with a base speed of 2.3GHz and a boost speed of up to 3.2GHz, 4GB of RAM and a 128GB eMMC drive, for quick access to files and programs. This model ships with Windows 11 Home in S-Mode Operating System, a more secure, lighter version of the Windows 11 Operating System due to the computer’s entry level specifications. Windows 11 S-Mode provides added security by only allowing APPs available (and therefore certified by Microsoft) at the Microsoft Store. If you don't need the added security or need to install apps not available at the Microsoft Store, you can switch to standard Windows 11 Home 64-bit Operating System, at no additional cost.
