Regarding your battery, some Lenovo models are equipped with power management programs that either extend the run time of the battery or extend the life of the battery. The partial battery percentage available relative to the full battery capacity (plugged in, not charging) indicates that this sort of setting may be enabled. Under this setting, the battery does not charge to 100% when connected to an AC adapter in order to preserve the battery’s life. This is my first and last Lenovo purchase. Screen illumination and quality has always been lacking. Will often drop WiFi signal. However the biggest issue...after 6 months of use the hinge connecting the screen to the keypad is breaking and the frame is now pulling away from the screen. Some quick research online showed this is a VERY common problem for the Lenovo laptop. Quick call to customer service revealed this common issue is not covered by my one year warranty. So very disappointed and frustrated by this product.

Posted .Hey LisaG, thanks for choosing Lenovo! Although, we're sorry to hear that the battery life has fallen short for you. There are many variables that contribute to shorter battery life. Thankfully, many of those variables can be adjusted. By default, the system will tend to give more speed when needed, which can sacrifice battery life. If you want to squeeze out more battery life, we recommend users utilize the Lenovo Vantage application that is preinstalled to adjust settings related to power and battery performance (to access relevant settings, open Vantage > Device Settings > Power). Users can also take advantage of the keyboard shortcut, Fn + Q to toggle thermal modes and easily switch between prioritizing battery life or power, or even the best of both words.

However, now it will not turn on! I have looked online for how to reset it, override the power system, etc but nothing is working. I am so over having these issues when all I’m trying to do is work!

Posted .Hi, Angie. We're sorry to hear that you ran into this issue with your IdeaPad. Since we're unsure of what troubleshooting steps specifically that you've taken, here's some to cover the bases. 1. First, ensure that the AC adapter or charger for this unit is plugged in and indicating it is charging the device by the LED next to the charging port being illuminated red (charging) or white/green (fully charged).
2. Once you have made sure the device is getting power throught the charger, yet it will not turn on, power off the computer, as this system is equipped with The Novo Button – a feature used to help users with a few options, including resetting your PC.
3. There is a small pin hole on the bottom right side of the device, first in line before the other ports on the right side. You will need a pin (a sim ejector tool or end of a paperclip should suffice) to push this reset button.
4. Push the reset button. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose to reset your computer. Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. Also, i don't feel the 16 gigs of ram at all, it sometimes freezes during very light work - I need it exclusively for internet access and some spreadsheets.
