Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the IdeaPad 1's performance, ease of use, ample RAM and storage, lightweight design, and long battery life. Many appreciate its value for the price. However, customers are negative about the screen quality, citing issues such as washed-out colors and grainy resolution. The overall experience appears to be positive for most users despite this drawback.

This laptop is probably good if you use chrome with up to 5 or 6 taps open and one or two apps. But NOT GOOD at all for using Chat GPT especially for math or if you run some medium size code. The most terrible thing is the hinges. I have seen tons of people are having the same issue, most probably it is a manufacture defect. I bought this laptop in January this year but the hinges are totally broken already within 8 months, even though I was using it gently. I bought it becasue I was looking for a budget laptop and it was on sale. I am extremely dissapointed.

Overall works great, but one of the homes broke and we use it maybe once a week. This was not caused by usage. Most likely weak hardware.

The computer itself works fine, but one of the hinges broke in less than 3 months. Because of that, you can no longer close the screen, rendering the laptop essentially a desktop. While it is still under warranty, Best Buy won't assist and you have to go through Lenovo. In order to get it fixed you have to send it in to them and be without a computer for however long that takes. In doing some searching, this is a very common problem with Lenovos and something that would have made me not purchase had I realized. The price to have it fixed outside of Lenovo (so you aren't without a computer for weeks on end) was almost the same price as just purchasing the computer outright. I won't ever buy a Lenovo computer again.

To be honest, it appears this computer was sold as used or refurbished. There are random Gmail login user names on several websites. My wife uses Square and there were already 5 email accounts in the log in browser. Randomly, the computer booted with a fTPM error requesting Bitlocker credentials. Seems as though if this product were new it would have no details and boot with factory settings.

The PC would not extend the image to 2 external monitors unless I installed a Lenovo client, which I couldn't do because I would have to permanently take the PC out of s-mode. Not willing to do that, so I returned the laptop and got an HP that works just fine with my 2 monitors.

Hey DinaaP, we're sorry to hear that the battery life for your IdeaPad fell short for you. Regarding your issue with battery life – there are many variables that contribute to shorter battery life. Thankfully, many of those variables can be adjusted. By default, the system will tend to give more speed when needed, which can sacrifice battery life. If you want to squeeze out more battery life, we recommend users utilize the Lenovo Vantage application that is preinstalled to adjust settings related to power and battery performance (to access relevant settings, open Vantage > Device Settings > Power). Users can also take advantage of the keyboard shortcut, Fn + Q to toggle thermal modes and easily switch between prioritizing battery life or power, or even the best of both worlds. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us. Lenovo

      Hello Emily,

We are sorry to hear that you are not enjoying your viewing experience on your IdeaPad.

For context, this model IdeaPad features an FHD resolution display, with a TN panel display type, a display panel that generally has narrower viewing angles and lower color accuracy on average than other display types, such as IPS panel displays.

For viewers of this post, should you prefer an image with a wider viewing angle and higher color accuracy, we recommend searching for a device that best meets your preferences before you make a purchase to help ensure you find the right solution.

Please reach out to us should you need any help with your laptop, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us. Lenovo

Hi, HussainR, thank you for choosing Lenovo! Regarding connecting to two external monitors, you could do so via your IdeaPad 1's HDMI port, and by using a USB 3.0 adapter, convert to the video cable type needed to connect to your second monitor. We are glad to hear that your IdeaPad has been good otherwise, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and feedback with us. Lenovo

Hello RahilS, we are sorry to hear that you are not enjoying the viewing experience on your IdeaPad. For context, this model features an FHD resolution display, with a TN panel display type; a display panel that generally has narrower viewing angles and lower color accuracy on average than other, higher quality display types, such as IPS panel displays. Due to the IdeaPad 1 series being the most entry level IdeaPad series, more premium features like an IPS display are found higher in our product series, like the IdeaPad 3. We have noted your feedback, and it is good to hear that your IdeaPad otherwise satisfies with its specifications. Lenovo
