Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Was looking for a budget laptop & came across this Lenovo 100s. Got it on sale so it did not break the bank. The 3 strikes against this laptop are: 1) Celeron chip 2) 2GB or ram and 3) 64 Gb Flash memory or I thought so.... Quite frankly the laptop has surprised me. I thought it would be slow and lag but youtube videos seems smooth with no stuttering and surfing the net, I see no difference as compared to my desktop PC. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that the keyboard feels flimzy when typing, other than that it's super light weight and has a sturdy exterior and the hinges seem strong and won't break off like my old HP laptop. The battery life is something like 20 hrs, wow! What you won't find on this laptop is an ethernet port and a DVD/CD drive. Overall good value for the price.

Motherboard keeps dying!

However, I purchased four of these Ideapads for my classroom out of pocket, and the motherboards on them keep dying. They would work one class period and then not work the next. They have been in and out of the geek squad for repairs constantly for the past few months. I am sure it's not related to how are using them but how poorly they are put together. Granted, I did buy them all at the same store so they could've had a bad batch but it is still frustrating that my students don't have them when we need them!

Better than Chrombook, light, 6 hours battery
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was lucky to get this opened box laptop at same price as 11" but got bigger screen 14" and eMMC to 64GB. only one problem was Windows office had been activated by previous owner, but Geeks gave me a new code to activate, thank you. Not fast, and you can't do multiple work for this one, but perfect for 1st fully Windows 10 laptop for my kid. light and thin and can do real work.

Fast boot, long battery life, no fans, 1 Year office, plenty of storage for programs. For the price it would be hard to beat. If you want something faster with more memory, storage, processing power, be prepared to spend at least triple the amount.

I knew what lack of power I was getting into and since all I was going to do with it was to read emails I was ok with that. I also wanted to have my MakeZine (Make: Magazine) collection off-line so I wanted to use a MicroSD card to expand the permanent storage. I choose Lenovo based on the quality of the ThinkPad line and past history with the brand. This one is a total dud. The computer had a warp in it from one side to the other that was around 1/2" deep. The computer would flex so much that I did not trust it to make it during the warranty period. Had to return it. Bummer.

My battery doesn't charge all the way and I have tried everything with no luck. This machine is slow even to just do basic things such as facebook and gmail. You definitely get what you pay for! Now, since the warranty has expired, I can't even get a hold of a customer support rep for Lenovo that can help me with this. Frustrated much?

With regard to this device operating slowly. Be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programing errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. Finally, you can call Lenovo Tech Support at 877-453-6686.
