A Good Buy for the Price!

Just my luck! I bought this last week for $20 more than it's on sale for this week, but I still got a bargain. It's a no-brainer for $129 for a person who needs a very portable, light-duty computer. This Lenovo is a big improvement over the 2-4GB units with on 32GB of storage on them. Don't even consider buying a computer with only 32 GB of storage. Just a few programs will leave you without enough space for those twice-a-year major Windows 10 upgrades. With 64GB, you can upgrade it to a newer version of Windows 10 without deleting almost everything you have on it. Mine came with Windows 10 1803 and I upgraded it to Windows 10 1903 as soon as I got it out of the box. Having Office 365 good for a year, already installed on it is a $70 value, so you're getting a computer for $60 when you think about it! The performance of this Lenovo 130S isn't half bad. Its newer Celeron processor, an N4000, is faster than a Celeron N3350, but slower than a Celeron N3450. It loads web pages fast enough and runs the included Microsoft Office 365 programs just fine. I use a mouse rather than the trackpad so I can't really comment on its quality. I stuck a 64GB micro-SD card in it to lessen the need to use the on-board storage. Also ...that makes it easy to transfer your work to a more expensive laptop or desktop you may have at home. Who is this Lenovo 130S good for? It's fine for a student to bring to class who doesn't want to spend a fortune on a laptop and still have something that usable. It's more versatile than a Chrome book, because you have Office 365 and can work "offline" on Word and all the other Office programs. It's also good for Seniors who need something small and simple for keeping track of club members. To be sure, you won't be gaming on this other than the simplest games, but for a large chunk of the population, it's a perfectly adequate machine at a bargain price!

Mom is 77, was using a Samsung Tab for the last few years and it was painfully slow. She isn't that tech savvy so I needed basic and not too big. This is perfect and works surprisingly well for what she needs...email, surfing, etc...It definitely surpasses my expectations and she loves it. Great deal, and getting it for 139 on sale was crazy!

I am impressed with the speed of this computer for the price. However, I was not knowledgeable on Windows S. Windows S allows only Microsoft APS. I could not install Mozzilla Firefox. I do have a one year free Microsoft Office, after one year pay for it. I normally use Apache Open Office which is free. There is a way to install regular Windows 10, but it will reduce the present operating speed.

    Windows 10S - useless

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

You've got to be kidding me. So now I can't install my own programs, without buying them from Windows. Half and hour and still nothing installed, so I can't even use it tomorrow, like I needed to. To turn off Windows 10S I have to sign up for a microsoft account, and I can only the edge webbrowser and bing! What a waste of my money. If I had know this I would not have purchased laptop. I'm sure the laptop is great, too bad I can't install any of my staff to see it. I need to loose how many hours to fix this?

    Exploding plug?!

Normally I avoid writing reviews but this one really "shocked" me. I bought this as a gift for Christmas for a family member. They showed me the computer and the charging port was melted where sparks had come out when the plug had exploded. The computer is now unable to charge because the charging port is damaged. Pathetic and sad.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 130S-11 laptop ships with Windows 10 S-Mode Operating System. Windows 10 S-Mode provides added security by only allowing APPs available ( and therefore certified by Microsoft) at the Microsoft Store. If you don't need the added security or you need to install APPs not available at the Microsoft Store, you can switch to standard Windows 10 Home 64-bit Operating System, at no additional cost. If you have switched out of S-Mode to Windows 10 Home, be sure the programs you are installing are compatible with Windows 10. Additionally, please keep in mind, this is an entry level, light use system with its Intel Celeron processor. It is not meant for multi-tasking or demanding programs. It is good for Microsoft Office and light internet browsing. Lenovo
