Posted .Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15 Laptop, model number 81WR000FUS. This model ships with a 720p (HD) webcam with manual Privacy Shutter and Dual Array Microphones. There is a clear plastic film protective covering over the lens of the webcam that should be removed during unpacking and setup. Be sure this clear tape is removed. If you have removed the protective covering and the Privacy Shutter is fully opened, but the broadcast video quality is still less than expected, check to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10 on the computer. Then update all BIOS files and drivers up to that latest version of Windows 10. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If the issue still continues after these updates, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help.

Hardware is good......

The software loaded onto it is unimaginably STUPID. I have had to 'try again' up to five times before any 'update' works. The tool bar is preloaded with completely useless garbage. And I have yet to be able to find a way to remove it. Bookmarks are saved in the order one saves them. They cannot be rearranged. Plugging in a thumb-drive results in....nothing. It took me almost an hour to find the device i just plugged in. I bought the Lenovo machine when an 'update' from Micro-sludge completely trashed the WIFI drivers on another machine. After two days of incompetent "help", I gave up, ordered this machine, and gained little if any ground. But, I successfully found a Utube video from a guy in Argentina (?) that was right-on! I received NOT ONE response from Micro-scum, the five other 'let us help you' sites were TOTALLY WRONG. And most want a credit card number to respond. Summary.....The machine is good. The software is obviously written by a bunch drug addicted teeny-slimers from some far eastern sweat shop and should never be on any computer. Have a good day.....

Windows 10 S-Mode provides added security by only allowing APPs available ( and therefore certified by Microsoft) at the Microsoft Store. If you don't need the added security or you need to install APPs not available at the Microsoft Store, you can switch to standard Windows 10 Home 64-bit Operating System, at no additional cost. I told the clerk all I really use is ex-cel and word. He then should suggested I have them install the Microsoft program since they have to copy all my stuff onto to the new one. It would have saved me frustration and sitting on hold for hours with a geek squad agent. He got me a program for free but I still didn’t help and I had to buy Microsoft office anyway. I’m not able to set up all the banking, credit card link on the desktop.
