Didn't realise that, unlike the i5s, the i3 was not touch screen, and, that coupled with the 8gb memory (compared to the 12gb for the i5s), meant that it was not worth the $50 price difference ($77 with the $27 open-box discount). In summary, on its own, it was worth the money, but, given the availability/pricing of the i5s, then, the i3s were a non-starter.

This is perfect for her. She also loves it and I think she will get a lot of it for at least 3 years. The only think thing I don't like is that S mode but all computers have that now so it is not any ones fault. My son was able to remove that off the computer. It was a great price as well. I bought for the black Friday special.

Windows 10 S-Mode provides added security by only allowing APPs available ( and therefore certified by Microsoft) at the Microsoft Store. If you don't need the added security or you need to install APPs not available at the Microsoft Store, you can switch to standard Windows 10 Home 64-bit Operating System, at no additional cost. We are pleased to hear that the IdeaPad 3 15 is working out so well for your grand daughter.
