Microphone does not work

The microphone does not work! When I called best buy I was told they only have a 2 week grace period for returns or exchanges. I did not test it until 3 weeks after purchase when on zoom all they could hear when I spoke was static. I purchased this computer specifically for trainings and or educational purposes from home and need to be able to access zoom. Now I will have to purchase a headset as well.

Posted .We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with the onboard microphone within your Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17 Laptop, model number 81WF004CUS. First be sure your microphone is not on mute. Tap the HotKey in the F1 position on your keyboard to be sure the microphone is off mute. Then use the HotKey in the F3 position on your keyboard to increase the microphone volume. You can test your microphone offline by using the Windows 10 Audio Recorder APP installed on this computer. Here is a link to instructions for accessing the Windows 10 Audio Recorder: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/how-to-use-voice-recorder-6fbb53d5-0539-abda-a9a4-0bcb84a778e7. If you are able to playback the audio you recorded and hear it, be sure your microphone is off mute before you use it again. Also if you are using an online video conferencing APP be sure you are off mute within the video conferencing APP settings as well. If the issue continues, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support before you purchase a headset, as the problem may also effect the headset functionality as well, call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686.

We were told we could pick it up on Wed the 11th and it wasnt there. "itll be the next day" they said. And told the same thing on friday, saturday and sunday. So we CANCELLED THE ORDER SINCE IT WAS FOR OUR DAUGHTERS BIRTHDAY AND GOT ONE SOMEWHERE ELSE. Funny thing though. at the store they said call the 1-888 number to verify its in. when we did that they said GO TO THE STORE TO FIND OUT IF ITS THERE. Several young employees are BEYOND rude and dis respectful. IF I ever need to go to a best buy it will be worth it to drive an hour out of the way.

Windows 10 S-Mode provides added security by only allowing APPs available ( and therefore certified by Microsoft) at the Microsoft Store. If you don't need the added security or you need to install APPs not available at the Microsoft Store, you can switch to standard Windows 10 Home 64-bit Operating System, at no additional cost.

Concerning issues with your Microsoft Edge Web Browser, check for updates for the Edge Browser - In the browser, go to Settings and more > Help and feedback > About Microsoft Edge (edge://settings/help). If the About page shows Microsoft Edge is up to date., you don't need to do anything. If the About page shows An update is available. Select Download and install to proceed.

Posted .The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17 Laptop, model number 81WF004CUS will boot from off to the Windows 10 Desktop screen in less than 40-seconds. If you are getting slower boot times, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686.

Two lemons in a row

Best Buy replaced it with a new computer. The new replacement Lenovo computer had a hard time even booting, When it did boot the computer would freeze when I tried to run a program. Again Best Buy fixed the problem with a new computer, this time a HP laptop that ran great right out of the box. I say stick to the HP computers.
