Set up was speedy, the SSD drive makes data transfer and start up exceptionally quick, the 8th generation Core i3 is nice. I’m going to max out the memory at 12 gb, so that will make it even quicker. I love the midnight blue color and the screen. Nice and light, too! I don’t see a downside except that the SSD is kind of small. But, I loaded up software and it’s not quite half full.

To maximize battery life, first adjust your battery saver settings. Next, to maximize battery life, be sure there are no unwanted programs running in the background, draining the battery. Here is a link to some tips for finding out what is draining your battery:

Funds were low but the needs were high. The core will run all my applications for my courses while the internal memory is more than enough (for my first year). I can always upgrade with an external drive for my second year (especially since I can get more funds later). The key was knowing what kinds of programs or apps I could do without, and knowing how much memory I could live with for my immediate needs. The price was just right while meeting my requirements.

Switched from Win10S to Win10 just in case we need to install something outside the Win app store. Works great for it's intended purpose. Already downloaded and installed FORScan to customize my Ford pickup. Had to pair a bluetooth adapter to connect to truck and had zero issues pairing or programming. Have also paired laptop to my TV with no issues. Only minor issue is that the laptop indicates a MUCH weaker wi-fi signal than my phone in the same locations. Appears that it will need to be kept relatively close to our router..

The screen and buttons are large enough that using them is comfortable. Love the color as well. I always stress out when purchasing a new laptop, but the staff made my purchase so easy and quick. They are very friendly and knowledgeable and they made me feel so comfortable. They made the transition from my old laptop to my new one very smooth.

I'm more disappointed in the apps that I'm trying to use on the computer. Webroot continues to load but never completes installing. Who knows why? I get lots of ads whenever I search for anything, but that's not the computers fault. The computer is fast. The keyboard is fine. The display on the screen is great.

Posted .Regarding your issue with installing Webroot virus protection, there is a 30-day trial of McAfee virus protection install on this computer. You do not need to use it and you can install any 3rd party virus protection you choose, once you uninstall McAfee. There can only be one virus protection software on the computer. I like the extended keypad for working with numbers. The size is awkward at times and it’s not so easy to store in a laptop bag. Overall serves purpose of meetings and online activities. Not so great for installing multiple large programs such as both Photoshop and Cricut. There isn’t a port for LAN, so WiFi is the only option.

I wish I had gotten one with 256 SSD rather than 128, but the price was a little more than I was willing to pay at the time. My IdeaPad is easy to travel with since it is thin and lightweight, plus it remains cool while on my lap which my old laptop did not. My only hangup is adjusting to Windows 10 from Windows 7 which has nothing to do with the computer, only the operator. :-)

With regard to learning your way around Windows 10, you may want to try YouTube.com (just type that address in your browser address window). There are hundreds for free instructional videos there about Windows 10. Just type Windows 10 Introduction in to the YouTube search window. You can watch free videos there that will show you the basics all the way up to tips and tricks videos and they're all free.
