    Almost, not quite.

The display and sound are both very good. The way the laptop is built the edge cuts into the wrists if you rest them on the computer. The computer is not heavy, and is light enough for travel, but oddly its battery lasts less than 2 hours. It does not have the power of a desktop replacement, nor does it have the battery capacity for travel.

    Great Potential

Item was great on paper sadly a huge disappointment. Here it why. 1080p ips display but looks washed out and it doesn't have Ips viewing angles plus terrible Color accuracy. Hard drive is good but as any other HD slow. Still no complaints about that. Terrible keyboard, feels worse than cheap, it bends when you press the keys (specially the WASD zone). I have a 200 chromebook that have better keyboard and screen color accuracy, so I don't see why this one have this huge flaws. Anyway I still think it's OK for the price but the thing that actually killed any hope for it was the memory. Seriously LENOVO it's a 2015 model! And why do I get 2 RAM slots filled with 4gb each and still have single channel performance RAM? Why why? Having this beast of an Apu as the A10 8700 you bottleneck it with only single channel RAM performance it's unforgivable! So be aware of this big flaw. And for the record battery life it's only about 2.5 hours on battery saver mode. Confirmed by 2 models. Oooh and all the stickers were misplaced looked like a child did it wherever Lenovo have their factories. Thanks for reading this. This is a honest review from a budget laptop buyer.

For the money I think this laptop is a no brainer. In just a few days of actual use, I have been able to back up my iPhone 6s and iPad Pro and tons of music, pics and vids, take care of banking, surf the web and stream movies (1080p), Skype and get Word documents done. So far, it's done a great job replacing my old 13' MacBook Pro. I think I'm just scratching the surface, actually as it's faster than advertised!

Il start by saying most reviews are from people who have bad experiences with the product. I have not had this very long but can tell right from the opening of the box this was going to be more solid than the g51 with amd a8 that i exchanged towards this. Speed wise they seem very similar, the true boost technology in the 500 gets the processor speed up to 3.2 ghz from 1.8, the g51 only boosted to 2.4 from 2.2. So the potential is there for this to be even faster. Screen clarity is fantastic much darker blacks and correct colors as compared to the blotchy screen on the g51 (not terrible, not the best) sound quality is amazing keyboard has a good feel. The brushed aluminum is a classy touch most cpus anymore are black unless you get a mac. The power button lights up, the g51 didnt. My only little ocd peeve is the lenovo logo isnt 100% straight under the screen im assuming most will be that way other than that pretty solid build. The screen is ever so slightly bendy when opening but i highly doubt it will cause future issues. I feel that with apple setting the bar so high for computers people assume they should all be that quality but this is a mid grade laptop that is fully capable from what i have seen and what tests i have done. If you want a gaming pc id recommend getting a true gaming pc this will play decent games well but is no alienware or some of the other high end asus or lenovo game rigs. All in all for 430 bucks the computer is very solid and well worth every penny for anyone looking for a laptop that has good power speed looks and audio.

I thought I found a new inexpensive laptop and yet I am still searching. I was not looking for much in terms of processing power as is such when your looking to purchase a sub $400 laptop yet I am still disappointed in the sluggish performance. From watching a youtube video while running a single program in the background turned it into a slideshow. The screen washes out unless you are perfectly aligned with it. Games from 2008 and earlier still chug along with horrendous fps unless set on low or medium settings. The battery will get you 2 and a half hours on a full charge. There are a few positives for individuals that need a basic laptop to check email or listen to music off of and plan to keep it plugged in. The speakers are excellent and the keyboard is spacious.

I wanted a cheap laptop that I could work on upgrades over time. This Lenovo fit the bill perfectly. Full HD screen is just slightly fuzzy. I upgraded the RAM from 8gb to 16gb fairly easily. Games play pretty weill with the onboard AMD graphics. I will be installing a Blu-ray drive and SSD hard drive soon. Only downside I saw so far is that the included Cyberlink DVD player software did not work. That didn't matter to me because I have media software to play Blu-rays

salesperson was very helpful in helping me pick out this laptop, told him what I needed it for, and didn't try to up sell me to a laptop I didn't need. Just needed something to surf the web, pay bills, and stream. This product delivers, more than enough. Just found it online for $50 cheaper, called and was granted a credit. Very happy with the product and the customer service.

At first the computer ran god awful slow until I removed the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus that was pre-loaded (sorry McAfee). I then installed Norton Security that's provided free with my Comcast account and the laptop ran much smoother after that. I also ran a defrag check of the hard drive with a TuneUp Utilities program which surprisingly, showed the hard drive heavily degragged. Once I ran a full degrag, that also helped it run much, much smoother. Very nice laptop overall, pretty pleased with it.

Purchased 1 day ago and returning

I read reviews prior to making this purchase. My husband and I have 3 retired laptops at home that we were still using just to get us by --a Dell laptop purchased 7 years ago, along with a 6+ year old HP and a ancient Gateway, all still worked but at the end of their battery life. Since we recently purchased an ipad air which we attach a keyboard to and my husband has a loaded work laptop. We would oly be using the laptop for browsing, printing documents, research and general personal use. The laptop had mixed reviews but I always keep in mind that usually unhappy customers are the majority of reviews. We decided to give it a try as it was the most appealing related to its memory and hard drive capacity and decent processor for the cost $407 w/tax. As soon as we arrived home we charged it and my husband set it up which was a breeze. Shortly after I was browsing the web, maybe had 2-3 windows open and I noticed how slow it was. We have the best internet speed and never had troubles on the retired laptops. I figured it was just a glitch since it may have still been updating. This afternoon I opened the laptop and there was 13% of the battery remaining only after using it for a few hours..very unhappy. While browsing and writting emails, the browser froze and I was unable to leave the screen. I decided to time it and continued for over 20 minutes until I finally restarted (this was in Google Chrome since the internet Edge was running slow also). We decided that we will be returning this tonight. Another note: I did ask the sales person if he had anyone return it due to being slow since many of the reviews mentioned it. He stated he hasn't had one customer return for that reason. Hmm..we will see what he says tonight.

Left handed use and not for gamers

The computer actually looks really nice and 8G ram for the price of this is a good deal; however, after 20-30 min of game play/watching videos. It will start pausing and than it will black out and turn back on and pause again. I have a 4 year old Lab-top that totally out performs this computer. I bought this computer original for my Digital classes but seeing how it performed already...returning it. The left side is where are the usb ports are at and power cord. The 2 usb ports are really close together. If, you have a usb cable and try connect something else. It really doesn't fit, unless you push it really hard. Which dealing with usb ports and anything computer wise. I highly don't recommend it. I hope this is useful to some of you.

Would be great if the screen didn't flex

Tested this computer at the store and when you move the screen you can see the panel flex in the lower corner about an inch above the hinge on the edge of the screen on each side. This effect happens when just moving the screen back and forth even gently. Not sure how long the screen will last like that otherwise seemed pretty awesome for what it is. Too Bad I would love to have gotten two for my kids.

Can't beat the power and speed for the price. Sharp look and Full HD (1920) screen. It's buzzing a little louder than the higher end laptops, but it's super responsive and I didn't have 800 bucks. Great buy!

Keyboard bends when you press any key, cheap looking. Boot time is about 2-3 minutes, even after I eliminated some of the bloatware and unneeded software. It froze after two hours of use and the fan is not silent at all, and works hard everytime I use it for any kind of task, even browsing the internet. The quality of the screen is cheap as well, colors are pale. Battery life is about 1.5-2 hours, not the best for sure.

I had this laptop for a awhile now. So far i have played World of Warcraft and skyrim on it without any problems. I picked this laptop for the Amd A10 and the 8gm of ram. One thing i was not expecting, i can use my Bluetooth headphones with this unit. While playing my games i also stream music at the same time with out any lag.

I needed to replace my laptop because of a couple issues. After doing some searching and researching, I decided on the Lenovo ideapad 500. Apparently I didn't research enough. I purchased it in Jan and looked forward to a nice laptop. But...it crashes, hangs up and is so slow. It will not buffer videos so I can watch even a short one with out it stopping and starting all the time. I would return it to Best Buy but do no know if I can still do that after two months. I am very very disappointed.
