To try to resolve this, try doing a hardware reset (visit the following link to learn how to do so: https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/3227606?hl=en&sjid=11168473644130281663-NA), which reboots the embedded controller that manages various system components. If this doesn't resolve your issue, you may need to factory reset your Chromebook, which you can learn more about towards the bottom of the webpage tied to the previously embedded link.
Good for basic research

My stepdaughter wanted a laptop for writing and homework. The fact that it's Chrome based and doesn't need a yearly subscription is also helpful. Now looking to get a couple more for the nieces.

My only complaint is the browser is not always as fast as I would hope being brand new. If you just need a Chromebook for browsing and small tasks, it’s a great option.

It was fine before but unfortunately after the last update it started doing this.

Frustrating Experience – Not Reliable for School W

The keys didn’t always respond, which made typing really frustrating. It also froze often, even during basic tasks like writing in Google Docs. The features are limited, and the performance just isn’t reliable for school use. It might work for very light browsing, but I wouldn’t recommend it for students who need to write or multitask regularly.

To start, we recommend ensuring the system is up to date, then trying to complete a hardware reset (visit the following link to learn how to do so: https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/3227606?hl=en&sjid=11168473644130281663-NA), which reboots the embedded controller that manages various system components.
If this doesn't resolve your issue, you may need to factory reset your Chromebook, which you can learn more about towards the bottom of the webpage tied to the previously embedded link. So long as your Chromebook is backed up and the data is tied to the same Google account you used to setup your Chromebook, you can restore your system from a backup point to prevent you having to go through the full setup process again or having to make setting adjustments and customizations again.
