So far amazing for the price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I just bought mine on 12/23/19. I've only had it for a few days but so far I'm blown away. It came down to this laptop or the Acer Helios 300 Predator. The Acer was on sale for $100.00 less but I had a 10% off coupon on a regularly priced item which offset the cost so I went with the Y540 as it was available in store. Either one of these laptops for the money is a great option and the Y540 has exceeded my expectations. The laptop is much smaller and lighter than my previous Asus gaming laptop, but can play any game I've thrown at it on ultra or very high settings with silky smooth framerates. I used the intel extreme tuning utility to undervolt it by 125 milivolts which cut down the heat dramatically and increased the framerates. For information on undervolting laptops just youtube it as there are a ton of videos on the subject. The Acer comes standard out of the box undervolted but it's very easy to do on the Lenovo, even for a non tech guy like myself. The 144hz screen is a game changer coming from a standard 60hz screen. Both this and the Acer laptop feature the 144hz display. The GeForce 1660ti is a beast and should handle most titles at high to ultra settings for years to come. In short, if you are having any reservations about this laptop because the low price may reflect performance, just buy it already. It's great. Or get the Acer. Either way, happy gaming!

Posted .Thank you for choosing the Lenovo Legion Y540-17 Gaming Laptop. No need to worry about heat with the Legion Y540. Thanks to Legion Coldfront, heat—the nemesis of gaming performance—is a thing of the past. Coldfront brings the latest features a dual-channel thermal system can provide, including: individual CPU and GPU cooling, for cooler system temperatures; four thermal vents, for improved airflow; dedicated heat syncs, for cooler keyboard temperatures; and 70 individual fan blades per channel, to reduce system noise.

Don’t purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The computer’s performance is admirable but after several years, the charging port (the part in the computer) stopped working and it’s now out of warranty and the Best Buy protection plan has expired. It would take hundreds of dollars to fix and it’s not worth it. Such a small thing could easily be remediated and I feel short changed by the manufacturer and Best Buy. The built in camera is also placed horribly. It’s at the base of the screen instead of the top, making it all but useless for video calls.

Very Depressing Considering How Much I Paid
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Its been a couple years since I used my legion because unfortunately it broke within 3 years of ownership. I bought the laptop in 2020 and it was amazing at first. All my games ran so smoothly. I loved it. By 2023, I started having issues with the charging port. It became "loose" and wouldn't stay charging. I had to keep it in a certain position just to keep it charging before it eventually just stopped charging all together. For how much I paid, I expected it to last longer. And I know I'm not the only one who experienced this issue either. I'll never buy a Lenovo computer again.

Charging Port is defective!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great at first but the charging port is inferior. It has to be in a certain position to charge.
