We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo IdeaPad S145-15 laptop. It is possible that restoring the computer back to original factory settings may fix the issue. Since you can not boot the computer, this system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the right side of the device, right near the headphone jack on the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Plug the device in. Let the battery charge for about 15 minutes. Push the reset button. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose "Restore To Factory Default". Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. If you don't have copies of the files, try to make one before you restore by selecting "Boot to desktop" and trying to back up your files. If the problem persists after the factory reset, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

    Good Base Computer

    Posted .

This is a pretty good base computer. Not fast by any means, but that's as much to do with Windows 10 as anything. The graphics are not great, but good enough. The main thing that would make this better is more RAM, but 4GB works OK. The bottom line is if you want a decent computer at a really low price to do just basic office things, this will work just fine.

    Decent, but slow

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Bought this for occasional use because old laptop couldn't handle Windows 10. PC is good for surfing, but is somewhat slow. Especially annoying is the over-sensitive touchpad. I am continuously shrinking the image sizes by accident. I have set sensitivity to least sensitive, but is still a problem. Compounded by the fact that when you reset the size, their is a noticeable lag before the image that is re-sized shows. So, you have to guess how much to change it, wait a second or tow and the reset it again -- multiple times before you can get it right. Very annoying. Also, Haven't figured out a way to increase screen brightness when running on battery. Probably just me, but screen is noticeably dimmer on battery than on AC. Plus battery life is pretty short. Given the price, I didn't expect a lot, but the touchscreen is such that I cannot recommend the product.

With regard to the touchpad, you can make adjustments to the touchpad in your system settings. You can get there by clicking on the magnifying glass at the bottom left of your Windows 10 screen. Type "touchpad" in the search window. Select "Mouse & touchpad settings" from the list of choices. You can make general adjustments to the touchpad there. You can also select "Additional mouse options" for more detailed adjustments to the touchpad sensitivity by increasing the delay of the touchpad. Concerning screen brightness when on battery, your current Power Management Setting is such that, when you are on battery, the screen dims to extend battery life. Here is a link to instructions for adjusting your Power Management settings for when the computer is on battery power:  https://windowsreport.com/prevent-laptop-screen-automatic-dimming/ Lenovo

I’m reviewing 5 years after purchasing because all the way up until my dog ruined this laptop, it was the best one I’ve ever owned. Ran super fast, never had storage issues, and allowed me to play literally any game on Steam I wanted without crashing!

absolutely horrible. slowest computer ever can hardly start up and run Chrome. Forget any kind of gaming and no application running at all. Can't even test the cpu cuz Cinebench crashes every time i try and run it. Screen looks crap too. 720p just doesn't work well on a screen this size. Cpu at 90%+ usage at all times even when nothing at all is running. Idk what other reviews are saying when they say this thing is fast, prob just bots to boost its stars.

Worst laptop ever. I noticed a line in the middle of the screen when I bought it home and I didn’t think anything of it. I should have known better and to return it because the screen went out a couple years later. It runs very slow after a year or so, even when there’s barely anything on it or taking up space.

    Poor Battery Life, Poor Screen

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this for occasional use, and didn’t expect fire-breathing performance. I don’t need it. For the record, I didn’t buy this at BestBuy; I got it from the office supply place with the big red sign. Pros: Setup was easy, there is virtually no junkware to get rid of. Warranty registration is a snap, and Lenovo is not emailing me with this or that offer. This has been my past experience with Lenovo; they are not pests. Cons: Battery life is dismal. i am lucky to get 90 minutes, and that is doing simple things like basic spreadsheets, browsing, and some word processing. The screen is dull and contrast is poor even for a budget class computer. While I am not doing photo or video editing, decent contrast wold be welcome. It just isn’t there, and I have seen ten year old mid-range computers with screens that blow this one away. Last: there is a flimsy feel to this computer.

The Lenovo IdeaPad S145-15 laptop, model number 81N3009BUS ships with a LCD w/LED Backlight (Anti-glare) screen, with a resolution of 1366 X 768 (HD) and a brightness level of 220 nits. The IdeaPad S145-15 laptop ships with a 2CELL_30WH_INTERNAL, Lithium Polymer Battery, with a battery life of up to 4 hours, depending on the work the device is performing. If you are only getting 90-minutes of battery life with moderate workload, First be sure Battery Saver is turned off. Here is a link to instructions for turning off Battery Saver Mode:  https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht117144. If Battery Saver is already off, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. Incompatible software will drain the battery at a faster rate. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo
