Posted .We are pleased to hear that the Lenovo IdeaPad S145-15 laptop is working out so well for your wife. This is a mid-level, moderate use configuration, with its AMD A6-9225 processor. This Dual-Core processor has a base speed of 2.6GHz and a boost speed of up to 3.0GHz. This configuration has 4GB of RAM. It is good with Microsoft Office type programs, internet browsing and other moderate work. This model ships with Windows 10 S-Mode Operating System. Windows 10 S-Mode provides added security by only allowing APPs available ( and therefore certified by Microsoft) at the Microsoft Store. If you don't need the added security or you need to install APPs not available at the Microsoft Store, you can switch to standard Windows 10 Home 64-bit Operating System, at no additional cost.

The worst PC I have ever purchased.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned several laptops since 2000, and this is by far the worst. Admittedly, I tend to purchase a low end model. I would think, though, that in 2020 a low end model would work better than a low end model in 2015 and certainly 2000. First the touchpad is infuriating. Half the time when one left clicks it right clicks even if you clearly touch the lower left corner. Secondly, when attempting to scroll down it invariably scrolls up or zooms in and out. These issues render the touchpad useless. Secondly, the reviews suggesting this laptop is slow are accurate. Every laptop I have owned in the last 20 years has been much more responsive than this one. If one places the cursor it often takes five seconds for it to appear before allowing one to type. It will not allow one to open more than one program at a time before a not responding message appears. One issue is that Windows 10 makes a number of unnecessary programs startup and run constantly in the background such as Skype and Cortana even when they are not needed. Often these programs will in combination with just edge trigger a not responding message. Preventing Skype from running constantly has helped. If you are using this laptop to access the internet you may find it suitable. If you ever have the need to access the internet and Microsoft office or any other program at the same time you will find this laptop to be worthless.

Posted .We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo IdeaPad S145-15 laptop. There should be no lag in seeing the appearance of your cursor. Be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. Regarding unwanted programs automatically starting up during the boot up process, you can turn any unwanted programs off. Here is a link to instructions for doing this:  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026268/windows-10-change-startup-apps

Decent basic laptop
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nothing about this laptop is going to really "wow" you. As many previous reviews have stated, the length of time it can take for this thing to start up or wake up can be annoyingly slow. But, it's entirely sufficient for basic home computing tasks once it gets going. Gets the job done as a household PC. Unlike a few other reviewers, I dont have an issue with keyboard at all. It's big and functions pretty smoothly.

Not satisfied, returning after 2 days...
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed another computer as we have 3 students in the home, including myself. I checked searched online for best chrome book for college student and this came up. I'm not tech savvy, so I look for information from the "experts". We set this one up and the speed was so slow. I was wishfully thinking that after the 2nd day, it would work faster. Didn't happen. I tried to return it in less than a week from when I purchased, curbside, however I have had to hold on to it for almost 2 months and pay finance charges on my best buy account because I can't return it yet. Not happy, but I understand.

Posted .Once again, thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaPad S145-15 Laptop. You can keep your computer running at its best by keeping the Windows 10 Operating System and all supporting BIOS files and drivers up to date. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If you ever need additional help with your Lenovo computer, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help.

Okay for basic needs
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My sister in-law needed a basic laptop. Great laptop, great price
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is actually more than I expected. I bought 2 because it was a great deal AND hubby wanted one. I think that this laptop is fast and easy to maneuver. What I really like is that the touchpad is not overly sensitive, sometimes in other laptops, you sneeze and the cursor moves, slam a door, the same thing; but not this one. The touchpad was not overly sensitive, I did not change it at all, and I used both the mouse and the touchpad depending on what I was doing. The graphics on this laptop are crystal clear, the blue screen is really blue and nice, I did put my own backdrop on it. The sound was also very clear and sometimes too loud. The actual number keyboard attached on the side made it easy to do rapid numbers. Also, the computer allows for a password. I would recommend this for anyone, it was perfect for my schoolwork.

Marginally OK for a $300.00 computer.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Doubt that I would buy another one of these. Slow from the beginning and only got slower. Had to do a Safe Mode restart, then reload Windows within the first two weeks of use. Still slow, have to restart very often. I'm using less than 1GB of a 1Terabite hard drive, have to defragment twice a week. No gaming or streaming. I realize that it is an entry level computer, but it's worse than any other laptop I have ever owned. Sure wish I would have bought another Toshiba. The Toshibas I have owned for the last ten years or so only last three or four years, but at least they perform.

||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Laptop is slower than my ten year old computer. Purchased during the covid stay-at-home order, I set it up myself. With a recent visit from my daughter, I had her check it over to see if everything looks ok. Everything looks good and she said it is really difficult to use a computer that is so slow. I don't know what to do next since it has been 2 1/2 months since I purchased but due to the covid, I was unable try to get help or have anyone look at it
