Worst laptop ever, get an acer or asus

Boot times are unbelievable, she lags out and freezes up when I have more than one tab open in Chrome. I did a fresh install, thinking the boatyard was part of the issue, but even with a clean copy of windows with as many bells and whistles turned off as possible, I still can't use it for BASIC tasks. This isn't the first Lenovo, I had an excellent Lenovo gaming laptop for years, so I bought one of these refurbished, but it was taking hours to install windows, assuming something was wrong, I returned it for one that hadn't been used. It was a little slow, but not bad enough to return, it was for my secretary and she didn't use it for anything but word and chrome calendar/email. A month or so later she starts mentioning that its become sluggish, we keep trying to lighten our load on it, but finally I just bought another laptop for her. I picked up an acer and an asus laptop that have extremely similar, nearly identical specifications, they are phenomenal when compared grandma.

Posted .The Lenovo IdeaPad S145-15 laptop, model number 81N3009BUS, will boot from off to the Windows 10 Desktop in less than 40-seconds. This model ships with Windows 10 S-Mode Operating System. Windows 10 S-Mode provides added security by only allowing APPs available ( and therefore certified by Microsoft) at the Microsoft Store. If you don't need the added security or you need to install APPs not available at the Microsoft Store, you can switch to standard Windows 10 Home 64-bit Operating System, at no additional cost. Even if you have switched out of S-Mode, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. You can keep your computer running at its best by keeping the Windows 10 Operating System and all supporting BIOS files and drivers up to date. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. (he is vulnerable senior too) also, thought I was signing up for Geek Squad when I made purchase but the $89 turned out to be "damage coverage", not tech support, and needless to say, it has been nearly impossible to reach a live person at BestBuy. sigh. will keep trying. maybe when thing get back to New-Normal, I'll have better review.

Pretty Good Touchpad Computer

I normally use an Apple laptop for work and wanted something different for home. While I am quite proficient at Apple....I am having a more difficult time with Windows. I've mainly used the computer as a video monitor and a way to get my email while being able to use my work computer less. I will retire within the next two years and this is when Ireally plan on hitting the windows program a lot more. So, my review is ...It;s doing great for what I am asking it to do....but I'm wondering how well it will do when I move away from my work computer.

This computer was slow out of the box, I should have returned it immediately. Now that I have had it for a few months, the battery lasts for only one hour and it is slower than ever, basically unusable. I will never buy any Lenovo product again.
