Very nice clock, but the automatic brightness function is catastrophically broken. Gets almost invisible at night - so what's the point of the clock if you can't see the time?

This is a cute and mostly a well-functioning clock with the added plus of Alexa built in. Setup is quick and easy, almost completely plug and play. With Alexa already there, it pretty much is ready to go quickly after it’s powered on. The only thing I had to do was to use the Alexa app to correct the time zone. The clock numerals are white on a black background and large enough to be seen at a reasonable distance. Other features on the screen are the day, a small current weather icon, and a microphone off icon. There is also one called “Temperature/Volume (dB) display.” That could be a nice feature; however, all it does is show numbers constantly changing. Should you increase or decrease volume, the constantly changing numbers show higher or lower groupings. I find that very annoying and waste of power, all be it small. To turn off this chain of numbers, the microphone must be turned off. That, of course, turns off the ability to speak to Alexa. Try as I may to follow the directions to set an alarm, I have not been successful. No worries, an alarm can be set by simply asking Alexa to do so, my preferred choice anyway. Listening to music is an OK experience. Sound quality is not what you will get from most Echo devices, though all things considered, it is rather good. Aside from the “Temperature/Volume (dB) display” issue, this Lenovo Smart Clock is a genuinely nice product. With that caveat, I would recommend it to a friend.

I own several units of the original Lenovo Smart Clock Essential and love them, so I was excited to learn there was a new version out. Unfortunately...my excitement turned to disappointment within the first 15 minutes of taking it out of the box. The hardware isn't the issue here - it's wonderfully designed and put together. The screen is bright and easy to read. The speaker sounds full, the mic picks up my voice from anywhere in the room clearly and consistently, and the red color is pretty slick. The problem lies with the fact that this clock is locked to Alexa. I could find no where in the settings to change it to Google Assistant, which is the platform all of my other devices use. That's on me for not reading the product description closely and carefully. It still performs all of the functions that I need - I can ask for the weather forecast, a quick question, set a timer or alarm...I just need to remember to ask the correct digital assistant. This is a worthy follow-up to the original Smart Clock Essential from a few years ago, I just wish Lenovo had made the decision to allow for different digital assistants instead of making a unique version of the hardware for each one. If you're all-in on Alexa in your home, you will absolutely love this device. Who knows, maybe it will turn my home into an Alexa home?

Speaker is low quality. Not like the Amazon product

My device wouldn't make it through set-up, I came to configure WiFi and nothing would show up. I have several Amazon Alexa devices, never had an issue. I've tried multiple devices to set it up (not really expecting a change) and no change. Big problem, Best Buy received my return and wants 5 days to process my refund... so not another purchase of anythng :(

Doesn’t really do anything that great. It lacks most Alexa features. Pretty much just a plain clock

Easy to setup and great price, just what we needed to update our bedroom clock.

This is a great smart clock for use in any room, bedroom, kitchen, family/living room, study, even bathroom. The screen is crisp and bright, with the numbers very easily seen from across the room. The screen also displays the humidity, microphone status, Alexa status, the day of the week, the outside temperature, alarm status, and the current weather. It has physical buttons across the top to set the alarm, change volume, or activate Alexa; there is also a physical switch on the back to mute the microphone. The outside of this smart clock is covered with speaker material and it has surprisingly good sound for its size. Even though its primary focus is with the built-in Alexa functionality, you can choose to stream music from various platforms--you're not limited to Amazon Music, but can also choose others such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music. You can also use the built-in Alexa to control smart home features such as lighting, door locks, plugs, thermostats, etc. You have to download the Alexa app on your tablet or smartphone in order to set this up, so you must have an Amazon account. From there, you can use it to interact via voice commands with your Amazon account to order things, just like an Amazon Echo product, and do the other usual things such as set timers, alarms, reminders, ask it questions, etc. The response time is pretty good, and it seems to understand voice commands well (so you don't have to repeat and/or shout commands). It's really helpful and handy to have in the house.
