Has Basic Essentials

Connect to wi-fi, and the clock time syncs itself based on your location, and it gives you the outside temperature, and day of the week. It even has a "night light" on the back side, which you can turn on by either pushing on the (-) volume button, or by telling Google to turn the night light on. The microphone slots are located in the face of the clock, and they are very sensitive. The sound is what you would expect from a hotel-grade alarm clock, with no real bass, but clear sound. Because it's a Google based device, you can Google-cast to if you get the little Google-cast icon on whatever device you are casting from. Lastly, it has a USB port in the back for charging your phone/laptop. The clock fits in the palm of my average-sized hand. I do recommend it if you happen to be looking for a smart speaker because the clock and temperature are useful features.

Cool gadget for playing music.

Posted .We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with the alarm alert sound for your son's Lenovo Smart Clock Essential. You can increase the volume of the alarm alert sound through the Google Home APP you used to setup this Smart Clock Essential only. The volume controls on the Smart Clock only effect the volume output of the Smart Clock not the alarm alert sound. This way you can set the volume of the alarm alert at a different level than that of the other Google Assistant type responses the Smart Clock delivers. To change the alarm alert sound, with the Smart Clock Essential Powered on, select the Smart Clock Essential from within your Google Home APP. Tap the Settings Gear icon at the top right of the screen. Select Audio from the list of Settings available. Within the Audio Setting, select Alarms and Timers. Use the slider there to adjust the alarm alert sound volume. You may want to use a Voice Command to create an alarm for 1-minute in the future so you can hear the alarm alert sound while you are adjusting the volume. Clock would not complete final config at setup

Disappointed

Don’t waste your $$

He said it’s the most frustrating thing ever to set up; still not set up and no longer able to return according to BB. My son has set up everything from computers to apple devices to Alexa’s, never had an issue. This product is not intuitive and worthless. I would give it 0 stars if that was possible.

Display dies after less than 9 months.

Must be connected to see time, wld not connect

Decided to give it a try & it failed to fully connect even after connecting to my high speed Wi-Fi. I tried multiple times to connect it. The device is useless if it does not display the time. Also it seems ridiculous to be required to share my location just to view the time. No thanks. I’m returning it.

You will need to use the Google Home APP for the initial setup of this Lenovo Smart Clock Essential. The time displayed by the Smart Clock Essential is internet-based time. Internet Time is based on a new Meridian (as opposed to the Greenwich Meridian). This new Meridian goes through Swatch's office in Biel, Switzerland and is called the BMT Meridian. Permission for the Smart Clock Essential to use your/the device location is needed to establish the correct time zone to display on your Smart Clock Essential. Once the Smart Clock Essential is setup, you can use the manual on/off microphone switch on the back of the Smart Clock Essential to turn off the Google Assistant Function. Non-functional out of the box.

The clock would not connect to the app and Lenovo support didn't offer and assistance. It wouldn't ever even show the time. I use the Home app for a number of other devices and they all continue to work without issue. The screen is not showing any numbers, so this broken clock isn't even right twice a day...

Short lived satisfaction

Until one line of the LED numbers stopped illuminating and now my Morning entails a guess at whether it is 5:00 or 6:00. Extremely unhappy with this issue and I am past the return window.

Very small, must shout to activate smart assistant

The temperature reading is not actually from an internal thermometer but the temperature provided from the internet based on your location. The thing I hate most about this is that you literally have to be within a meter for it to pick up the Google Assistant' wake word. Otherwise you'd have to scream at it from within 3 meters..

Please ensure you have removed the plastic film that is on the screen to protect the unit during shipping. If this is on it will be difficult for the microphone to pick up your voice. If the issue persists, it is possible setting up voice match and raising the "okay google" sensitivity will help with this. to setup voice match please open the Google Home app.
At the top right, tap your account.
Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap another account or Add another account.
Tap Assistant settings Voice Match Add devices.
Make sure any devices you want to link your voice to are checked.
Tap Next I agree.
Follow the in-app steps.
To adjust the sensitivity of the mic please open the Google Home app .
At the bottom, tap Home .
Select your speaker or Smart Display.

If your device is misbehaving we recommend to please power cycle the device by unplugging it for 1-2 minutes. Plugging it back in, and allowing it to power on. If the issue remains please perform a factory reset by holding down the “Volume + and – ” buttons on top of your device for 8 Seconds. Not good

It is basically unresponsive to voice. I have to speak loudly 4" from the speaker. Even then the minis in other rooms pick up my voice.....and it doesn't. I am returning it today. I bought 2, 1 for me and 1 for my parents. trying to decide whether I open up the second one and maybe give that one a try maybe I just got a bad one I don't know.

Sorta simple to figure out and set the alarm schedule if your somewhat tech savvy. Today, 10/21/22 the speaker has blown and at the highest volume does not sound loud. I had to investigate because I wasn’t waking up for work. Guess what… no returns past the 14 days!!! Trash
