While you do get an LED clock display there are compromises made to get to this price point. Compared to a traditional (1st gen) Google Mini, the Lenovo's speaker is muddled and its microphone is not nearly as sensitive. If I am laying in bed with the Lenovo right next to me on a night stand and looking up I say Hey G it doesn't respond but my kitchen device does instead. I have to be speaking directly to this device for it to discern it should be the one responding. It's very weak. I restored my old Gen 1 mini and put it back in the same spot and I could be 6 feet away not facing it and the mini responded instead of my kitchen device. I was really looking forward to a clock radio design paired to a Google assistant smart speaker. But over time I grew more and more frustrated with this device. I'm returning it to Lenovo for my money back. I'd suggest you not waste your money.

Because for the first year, while under warranty, it will work perfectly. Then magically, at the 54 week mark, the screen will crap out. Little lines will disappear and you won't know what time it is, if it is am or pm, what the temperature is-- it'll all be jacked up. Very aggravating.

Posted .By using the Google Assistant feature by saying Hey Google, The Lenovo Smart Clock Essential will verbally tell you the recipe you are looking for but the Smart Clock Essential can not display a recipe on its screen.
Cheap for a reason

Google assistant works, but I get no actual numbers on the clock face. Lenovo is impossible and no help. Best Buy didn't link this to my account so I'm spending all day trying to return this stupid thing. Don't buy this. Spend the money to get something that works and has decent customer support.

Frequently disconnects from wi-fi even though I have a Series 6 mesh wi-fi with a router and two satellites and the clock was within 20 feet of one of the satellites. I returned this item to Best Buy and bought the Echo Dot with the clock instead. The Echo plays continuously without any problems.

It's not even heavy enough to work as a decent doorstop. Basically I spent $60 on a clock that never worked.

You can adjust the alarm alert sound volume within the Google Home APP you used for the initial setup of this Smart Clock Essential. Open The Google Home APP for this Lenovo Smart Clock Essential. The first screen you see is the volume control for the audio content the Smart Clock Essential streams from your selected sources, like music from Pandora. To adjust the alarm alert sound, tap the Settings Gear icon at the top right of this screen. Now select Audio from the Settings Menu. Now select Alarms and Timers from this Audio Settings Menu. Here you will see a slider to adjust the alarm alert sound for each individual alarm you have saved to this Smart Clock Essential.
