Nice Clock, bad speaker

The nightlight feature works well, but it would be nice if it automatically shut off during the day. The speaker is unfortunately very disappointing. I replaced a Nest Mini with this and the sound quality is no where near the same.

Posted .Hi! Thanks for choosing the Lenovo Smart Clock Essential. You can setup a routine for day and night to turn off/on the nightlight. To get started please open up the Google Home app on your smart phone or tablet. Next select "routines". After that please select your Smart Clock Essential from the device list at the bottom of the screen. Next please select the mult-colored "+ " Sign to add a new custom routine. Then Add a starter with the time of day to start the routine. If it asks you to add a voice starter add it, but note that a voice command will not be required by you if you also have a time of start command set. Lastly add a custom action. Please type "Turn on nightlight" in the text box of the custom action. You have now created a custom routine to turn your nightlight on at a certain time. To turn the nightlight off you will need to crate a custom routine again using the above method but changing the routine action text to "Turn nightlight Off" at the specified time..... In regards to the speaker you can group the Lenovo Smart Cock with any Cast enabled speaker you may own. This will allow you to setup full room or whole house audio depending on the number of Castable smart speakers you have. If you have a speaker you prefer you can set this to be the default speaker of the Smart Clock Essential, for example, when streaming music. Great intro into smart home automation

I placed it in a central location so I can turn lights on and off, set timers while cooking and check outdoor temps on the way out the door all with the sound of my voice. Planning to get another one for my bedroom.

It is also nice to have a stand by voice activated reaponse when we need to lookup answers to anything. I would highly recomme d this to anuone familiar with Alexa or hey Google products.

It is just the right size. I had a little issue with google assistant diming the display, but it finally understood. I have had no issues once we understood each other.

The only thing I don’t like is the leading zero for 12-hour time (e.g., 09:35 AM) and figuring out the voice command to dim the clock digits took some time (“dim the clock to 10%” turns on the night light; “set the brightness to 10%” also turns on the night light; “dim the screen to 10%” isn’t understood, etc).

We appreciate your feedback as we are always looking for ways to improve our smart devices. You can dim the Display at any time by saying "Ok Google Display brightness 1-100%. You can also turn off the display by saying "Okay Google Display Brightness 0%. The Smart Clock Essential should also automictically adjust it's brightness to the lighting in the room. If your Smart Clock Essential is not behaving in this manner please power cycle the device by unplugging it for 1-2 minutes. Plugging it back in and allowing it to power on. If the issue remains please perform a factory reset by holding down the “Volume + and – ” buttons on top of your device for 8 Seconds. If the issue persists, please contact our customer support team at 866-426-0911
