A recent software update removed the annoying leading zero on the time display: "07:10" now displays as "7:10". If you want a fantastic sounding smart speaker, this isn't what you want. This is a low cost/high value alarm clock (that sets itself), displays some weather basics, and includes the Google Assistant and smart home control.

It's so loud that it scares me awake. I just need to be awakened lightly, not like a tornado warning. I got this alarm so I didn't need to use my phone as an alarm and now I'm back to using my phone.

You can change the volume of your Alarm alert sound by going to settings within the Google Home APP you used on your phone or tablet for the initial setup of the Smart Clock Essential. While one of your preset alarms is sounding or if you setup a special test alarm to change alarm settings, while the alarm is sounding its alert, open your Google Home APP. Go to settings and look for Alarms and timers. Click on that and you will be able to adjust the volume manually of the alarm sound to your personal preference. If you continue to have issues, we recommend you contact lenovo Tech Support for Smart Devices at: 866-426-0911.

I use google to set music alarm as the clock's alarm only has one set tone. Other than that, not much to it. Works as expected. Do plan on taking time to set up when you get it because it has to be paired with your google account to work.

You can use your Google Home APP on the device use used to setup your Lenovo Smart Clock Essential with, to manually adjust the volume of your Smart Clock Essential. You can also use music from one of your streaming sources as an alarm.
